Game One-In a close game the DV’s got by the Zaps by the score of 8 to
6. The home team was unable to recover after the bad guys went ahead in
the top of the 4th inning plating 2 runs on 4 base hits. Randal Grichuk
led off the inning for the DV’s when he lined a one-base hit. After an
out was recorded, Yasmany Tomas stepped in and he lined a base-hit.
Ketel Marte then lined a single scoring a base-hit run. After another
out, Xander Bogaerts came up and he ripped a one-base hit scoring the
final run of the inning. The Zaps threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short. Kyle Hendricks(7-5) went 8 innings allowing 4 runs for
the win. Hendricks was helped out by Jeremy Jeffress who recorded his
18th save. Francisco Liriano(11-6) took the loss. He gave up 2 runs and
8 hits in 7 innings.
Game Two- 45,880 fans watched an exciting game at John Olerud Park. The
Zaps topped the Dv’s by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3. The good guys
had 3 runs cross the plate in the 6th inning when they had 3 base
hits. The highlight belonged to Andrew McCutchen who made the crowd
happy when he tripled scoring two baserunners. The DV’s had a chance to
come back in the 9th but they came up short. The winning pitcher was
Zack Greinke(13-3) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Greinke was helped
out by Ken Giles who recorded his 2nd save. Bartolo Colon(5-5) was the
losing pitcher in relief.
Game Three-Right fielder Jose Bautista had 4 hits as the Zaps topped the
DV’s by a score of 11 to 4 at John Olerud Park. Corey Kluber(7-6)
pitched a fine game. He went 7 innings surrendering 7 hits
and 3 walks. The home team had 18 hits for the afternoon while the
visitors had 7. Nathan Eovaldi(2-8) ended up with the loss. He was
touched for 13 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
Game Four-Francisco Liriano whiffed 11 batters as the Zaps bested the
DV’s 5 to 2 at John Olerud Park. Liriano(12-6) gave the home team a
solid outing. He went 6 and 1/3 innings surrendering 5 hits and 2
walks. Overall the Zaps out-hit the DV’s 9 to 6. Liriano got help from
Brad Ziegler who was credited with his 15th save. Stephen Strasburg(5-6)
was the loser.
Game Five-In a game at John Olerud Park the Zaps got by the DV’s by the
score of 8 to 5. In the bottom of the 4th inning the home team scored 7
runs with the help of 6 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Corey
Dickerson who brought the crowd to their feet when he doubled with all
three baserunners touching home. For
the game Zaps out-hit the DV’s 16 to 8. The victory went to Zack
Greinke(14-3) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs. Brett Cecil recorded
his 2nd save. Andrew Cashner(3-3) was given the loss. He got hit pretty
hard, allowing 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
