DVs 3, Buckeyes 2

DVs and Buckeyes hooked up for a 5 game set at the DV dome that saw all but one game stay close while having multiple swings and lead changes.

Game 1 – Cuddyer smacks a 2 run homer in the 8th off Ryan (also known as Aaron) Cook to spur a 4-3 Buckeye win. DVs miss back to back BP 1-15 game winning home run chances in the bottom of the 9th as Michael Saunders and Aramis Ramirez whimper helplessly in the fetal position while being pelted with sunflower seeds thrown by mocking fans.

Game 2 – Yonder Alonso returns the favor with a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 8th to spur a 5-3 DV win.

Game 3 – RA Dickey coasts with a solid outing as the Buckeyes roll to a 6-2 win

Game 4 – DVs get out to a comfortable 6-1 lead, then turn it over to the bullpen (with Cook giving up 2 homers in an inning) that almost coughs up the game as they cling to a 7-5 win.

Game 5 – Paul Maholm spins a gem, lowering his ERA to 8.01 ( he allowed 5 runs over 7 innings) and moving his record to 3-1 as the DVs come back from a 5 run deficit to win 8-5. The aforementioned Cook gets dog cussed before the game and rises to the occasion- recording all 6 of his outs via strikeout.

Warpigs 4, Fungoes 2

Cards and dice...

Gm1 @ WTF Field - Warpigs win 5-3. Justin Ruggiano hit a 2-run triple in the 1st, and Edwin Encarnacion followed with a 2-run homer. Then Cliff Lee and the Pigs hung on. Fernando Rodney picked up his 13th save.

Gm2 @ WTF Field - Warpigs win 9-1. Both teams had 8 hits, but the Warpigs also walked 9 times. David Freese hit a 3-run homer. Jordan Zimmermann went the distance.

Gm3 @ WTF Field - Warpigs win 6-3. The Pigs sweep the doubleheader and the series. Freese was the star again, scoring 4 times. Adam Wainwright lost his shutout bid on a 8th inning, 3-run homer by Clint Barmes. Rodney got save #14.

Gm4 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 6-5. Another 3-run 8th by the Fungoes tied the game, but Yoenis Cespedes won it with a walk-off homer in the 9th.

Gm5 @ The BallPork - Fungoes win 5-3. The Fungoes finally got things turned around, hitting 2 homers in the 4th inning off of Wainwright.

Gm6 @ The BallPork - Fungoes win 7-3. The Fungi pounded 4 homers off of Cliff Lee, and David Price made them stand up.

Tweeners 4, Buckeyes 1

The Buckeyes' sluggers did not find The Hooverdome to their liking, scoring only 9 runs in 5 games. Perhaps the Tweeners' pitchers can take a bit of credit, posting a 1.80 ERA for the series.

6/22 – Corey Hart returned to face his former mates for the first time, going 2 for 4 with a homer and a double, but Shane Victorino had 2 base hits and Zack Cozart homered at The Hooverdome as the NORM TWEENERS beat the GLENN Buckeyes by the count of 3 to 1.

Tommy Milone(5-5) gave NORM a solid outing. He surrendered 5 hits and no
walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. Sergio Romo was perfect in the ninth giving him
his 13th save on the season.

The loss was charged to Cole Hamels(2-2). He pitched 5 innings allowing 4
hits and 1 walk.

6/23 – Michael Morse and Adam LaRoche each jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI as the NORM TWEENERS bested the GLENN Buckeyes 8 to 2 at The Hooverdome.

Felix Hernandez(6-5) pitched a solid game. He went 7 innings allowing 5 hits
and 1 walk lowering his ERA from 3.97 to 3.75. NORM finished with 13 hits
while GLENN ended up with 6.

Lucas Harrell(2-6) was the losing pitcher. He was not very effective,
surrendering 4 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.

9/3 - Madison Bumgarner whiffed 10 batters and Mark Reynolds slammed a homerun as the NORM TWEENERS bested the GLENN Buckeyes 3 to 0 at The Hooverdome.

Bumgarner(9-3) came through with a virtuoso performance against the GLENN
hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 5 hits and 1 walk in 8
innings lowering his ERA from 3.84 to 3.53. NORM had 7 hits for the night.

Sergio Romo earned his 14th save. The loss was charged to Edinson
Volquez(0-4). Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Bumgarner - except
GLENN. GLENN's manager lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping
our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher -
makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the
visitors!'

9/4 – Supported by homeruns from Jones, Hart, and Youkilis, R.A. Dickey pitched a complete game as the GLENN Buckeyes beat the NORM TWEENERS by a score of 5 to 1.

GLENN took the lead off Chris Tillman in the first inning plating one
baserunner. Emilio Bonifacio tripled. Chris Nelson followed next and he
would ground out. GLENN had 9 hits for the night.

Dickey(7-1) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Tillman(1-2) ended
up with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 6 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings.
9/5 - The NORM TWEENERS bested the GLENN Buckeyes by a 4 to 1 score at The Hooverdome.

NORM drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning when
they scored 3 runs on 3 hits, including a 2-run homer by LaRoche. That early run support was enough for Gio Gonzalez(5-2) and NORM. NORM out-hit GLENN for the game, 7 hits to 4.

Sergio Romo recorded the save, his 15th. Cole Hamels(2-3) was the loser. He
surrendered 3 runs and 5 hits in 6 innings.

Game 1 - Wahoos win 8-2. I've never seen so many 4-column rolls in my life. Jeff Samardzija is the recipient, getting 16 strikeouts in the complete game win.

Game 2 - Warpigs win 6-2. A return home to the BallPork changed the fortunes for the Pigs, although it did require a come from behind effort. Jordan Zimmermann got the win and Fielder, Encarnacion, and Yadier homered.

Game 3 - Warpigs win 3-2. The Pigs scored 2 in the 8th - starting the inning with an error on the pitcher. The Pigs survived back to back doubles in the 9th to hang on for the win.

FFTs 6 – Inmates 4 (Baptist Bowl): The FFTs favorite batting practice pitcher, Santana, takes it up the wazoo once again. Pooholes hits two taters, Swisher spuds once, and the Inmates can manage only 10 singles and a double.
