Inmates 6, Weevils 4

Inmates 6 – Weevils 4 (via netplay)

Hard-fought back-and-forth series.

Inmates 6 – Weevils 4 (10 innings - BabyArm Park): Let’s see, 4-1 lead, last of the 9th, the Inmates have Green on the hill. No worries, right? Uh-huh. A Dickerson three-run homer later and the game goes into extra-innings. Rizzo hit a two-run shot in the 10th that held up for the win, but the rest of the series was about the same way.

Weevils 5 – LDMF 0 (BabyArm Park): Scherzer and company dominated the LDMF, allowing just three hits, as the Weevil pitching staff owned the game. Simmons and McCutcheon tatered for the Weevils.

Weevils 3 – LDMF 2 (Baptist Bowl): Scherzer fanned 14 in seven innings, totally shutting down the continued presence of the LDMF on three hits. Goldschmidt homered for the winners. Scherzer sucks.

Inmates 5 – Weevils 1 (Baptist Bowl): Cespedes and Santana both homered in the 8th to break up a 1-1 tie for the Inmate victory. The Weevils managed just two hits off of Quintana through six before the bullpen closed things down.

Weevils 7 – Inmates 5 (12 innings – Baptist Bowl): Chad Green, continuing his self-immolating ways, allowed a 9th inning game-tying homer to Hoskins (his second of the game) to allow the Weevils to take the game into extra innings. The Inmate offense totally shut down, while Goldschmidt crushed a two-run spud off of Morrow in the 12th for the game-winner.

Inmates 12 – Weevils 2 (BabyArm Park): A two-run tater by Goldschmidt in the 1st was all Salazar allowed as the Inmate bats pounded Scherzer for the only lopsided win of the day. Salazar struck out 17 in a complete game effort; Shaw homered twice for the Inmates. Scherzer deserved this.

Weevils 5 – Inmates 3 (BabyArm Park): Madson allowed two runs on three hits, including a homer, as the Weevils came from behind to kick the Beakless Chicken Gang. Giles earned the save; Greinke the win.

Inmates 9 – Weevils 7 (BabyArm Park): Another seesaw game, with the winning run scoring for the Inmates in a five-run 7th (after the Weevils had scored four in the 6th). The Inmate bullpen stopped most of the bleeding after Morrow allowed his second homer of the series (he allowed 0 during the 2017 season).

Inmates 12 – Weevils 9 (Baptist Bowl): The teams combined for seven homers on the day, including a pinch grand salami by Olson in the Weevil 7th to close the Inmate lead to 9-8. Hoskins hit a pair of homers, Bregman hit a pair of homers and drove home five runs, and the wild and wooly series continued. Wood took the win despite allowing eight hits in 5 2/3.

Inmates 2 – Weevils 1 (Baptist Bowl): Kluber K’d 13 Inmates, but a two-run single by Altuve in the 3rd stood up for the Beakless Chicken Gang. The Weevils made it interesting in the 9th vs Green but Hoskins fanned to end the game.

Wahoos 2, Warpigs 2

Via Netplay...

All games at The BallPork.

Game 1 - Wahoos win 8-2. Severino gets blasted for 7 runs in 3 innings. Homers by K.Seager, Gallo, Wieters, and Pedroia for the Hoos. Judge hits one for the Warpigs. Mengden gets the win.

Game 2 - Warpigs win 7-4. Four more homers by the Hoos (all solo shots) by N.Williams, K.Davis, Ozuna, and K.Seager (again). Judge hits another for the Pigs. But the star of the game was little used David Freese. Making a rare start vs a RHP, Freese went 3-3 with 2 homers and a walk. Jacob deGrom went a quick 7 for the win, with the bullpen just barely avoiding implosion for the last two.

Game 3 - Wahoos win 8-6. The Wahoos hit ANOTHER four homers (Rupp, K.Seager (fuck him) and N.Williams, who hit 2). The 8-1 early lead resulted in the Warpigs pulling some guys for rest. And, of course, THEN we have a 5-run inning to make it interesting. Jacob deGrom, who entered as an AB-saving DH, led the way, going 2-2 with an RBI. But thanks to some crappy hitting with runners on, the rally fell short.

Game 4 - Warpigs win 4-3. Let me just tell you, Kyle Seager is a bitch. He homered for the 4th straight game, going 3-5 off of Danny Duffy, who (supposedly) allows NOTHING to left-handed batters. Tell that to Seager, though, who was just showing little brother how it's done. Little brother did nothing except striking out three times, grounding into a double play, and continuously letting ground balls roll past him untouched. Somehow, though, the Warpigs, thanks to a 2-run shot from Yelich, evened up the series. Duffy got the win; Doolittle the save.

Bohl Weevils 6, Warpigs 4

via Netplay.

May 5 @ BabyArm Park - Weevils win 6-2. Anthony Rendon and Corey Dickerson both homered to back the pitching of Cory Kluber.

May 6 @ BabyArm Park - Weevils win 6-5 in 11 innings. The Weevils scored 4 first inning runs, but the Pigs battled back to take a 5-4 lead. One out away from evening the series, Corey Seager made a 2-base error to tie the game. The Weevils won it in the bottom of the 10th.

May 7 @ BabyArm Park - Weevils win 5-4. This time it was the Warpigs with an early 4-run inning and the Weevils battling back. The home team took the lead for good in the bottom of the 8th with back to back solo shots from Goldschmidt and Machado. The Pigs had a chance to tie it in the top of the 9th, but missed a 1-15 double.

June 7 @ The BallPork - Weevils win 7-1. A change of scenery, but not a change of results. Dylan Bundy was masterful for 6 shutout innings. Only a rare Joe Mauer homer in the 8th kept the Pigs from being shut out.

June 8 @ The BallPork - Weevils win 3-0. Nothing kept the Pigs from being shut out this game. Cole Hamels allowed only 1 hit in 6 innings (although he did walk 7). The Weevils have won 5 straight. All is not well in Hooterville.

July 11 @ BabyArm Park - Warpigs win 12-2. Some frustrations were tended to. Mauer and Realmuto each had 3 hits and Ezekial Carrera went 2-2 with a homer. Rich Hill went 5.1 for the win.

July 12 @ BabyArm Park - Weevils win 4-1. The Pigs led 1-0 in the 8th when Rhys Hoskins pinch hit a grand slam for the home team.

August 27 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 4-3. The Pigs scored 4 in the first off of Hamels. The Weevils countered with a 3-spot in the 2nd... and neither team scored again. Pedro Strop was the surprising choice for the save. In the 9th inning, Matt Olson had a bat in his hands in the dugout, and Sean Doolittle was warm in the Pigpen, but neither made an appearance.

August 28 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 7-3. Aaron Judge, who had as quiet a series as is possible, doubled home the go ahead run in the 7th. Mauer and Seager each had 3 hits and Tommy Pham homered for the Pigs.

August 29 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 2-1. The game was scoreless at the 7th inning stretch, but Corey Seager hit a 2-run double and the Pigpen somehow managed to hang on.

Buckeyes 3, Tweeners 2

Buckeyes take 3 of 5 at Tweeners via the miracle of Net Play. Only 1 frozen incident. Not bad for Hal.

5/8 Buckeyes 17 Tweeners 2 - Buckeyes score 7 in the first and never look back. Led 17-1 after 5. Montgomery gives up 17 runs but thankfully only 15 were earned.
5/9 Tweeners 7 Buckeyes 4 - Tweeners jump out to 4-0 lead after 2 and never look back. MadBum pitches well
5/10 Buckeyes 6 Tweeners 5 (12 innings) - Buckeyes get one in the 11th only to have Tweeners tie it back up. Altherr hits a homer in 12th to win it

8/4 Buckeyes 8 Tweeners 4 - Hernandez homers and Sanchez drives in 4.
8/5 Tweeners 6 Buckeyes 4 - Freddy Galvis e 7 makes the key error in 7th leading to 5 run Tweener rally

Inmates 8 - Fungoes 1 - Tweeners 4

Inmates 6 – Fungoes 1/Tweeners 4 – Inmates 2

Cards and dice:

Inmates 5 – Fungoes 2 (Baptist Bowl): A three-run homer by D. Santana in the 8th broke open a 2-2 pitcher’s duel.

Inmates 12 – Fungoes 1 (Baptist Bowl): The Fungi scored in the 1st to take a short-lived lead, and then all hell broke loose. Nunez hit a pair of taters, Segura drove in four runs with a pair of doubles, and Manaea tossed a complete game six-hitter to totally destroy the visitors from WTF.

Fungoes 5 – Inmates 0 (Baptist Bowl): The Inmates put away their bats, getting blanked by Kennedy (!?!) and the Fungoe bullpen. The near-return of the LDMF was low-lighted in the 9th, when the Dickless Chicken Gang had three consecutive singles with one out and still couldn’t manage to score.

Inmates 12 – Fungoes 7 (Baptist Bowl): The Fungi jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the 2nd when Davies allowed a pair of three-run homers. With Kershaw on the mound it didn’t bode well for the Inmate chances, but Rizzo and Bregman tatered in the bottom half of the inning to make the game close. Fast-forward to the 8th, when the Inmates scored five to break a 7-7 tie capped by Rizzo’s second spud of the game.

Inmates 5 – Fungoes 1 (WTF): Ho-hum. Not much remarkable here. The Fungoes managed only five hits, made two errors, and generally didn’t help themselves out. Martinez hit a two-run homer for the Inmates.

Inmates 4 – Fungoes 1 (WTF):  Ho-hum, part 2. The Fungoes managed only four hits, made two errors, and generally didn’t help themselves out. Martinez hit a solo homer for the Inmates.

Inmates 6 – Fungoes 5 (WTF): A closer game than the last few, but the Fungoes came up short. A Rosario grand-slam in the 7th iced the game for the Beakless Chicken Gang.

Via Netplay:

Tweeners 4 – Inmates 2 (Hooverdome): Davies allowed three homers, including a Cozart blast on the first pitch of the bottom of the 1st that landed somewhere in western Tennessee. The game wasn’t as close as the score indicated, as a two-run homer by Segura in the Inmate 9th only avoided a shutout.

Tweeners 5 – Inmates 4 (Hooverdome): The Tweeners continued to make life difficult for the Inmates, as the clutchless denizens of the Baptist Bowl had 8 hits before finally scoring in the 6th to take a 2-1 lead. Flash-forward to the last inning: A two-run homer by Cespedes in the 9th closed the Tweener lead to 5-4, which was how the game ended.

Inmates 7 – Tweeners 2 (Hooverdome): Ray fanned 12 in 6 1/3 innings, but the Inmates managed to win anyway. Ramos hit a three-run homer, while the Inmate bullpen pitched a perfect 7th, 8th, and 9th.

Tweeners 2 – Inmates 1 (Baptist Bowl): A classic pitcher’s duel. Martinez tatered in the Inmate 3rd for a 1-0 lead that lasted into the 8th, when the Tweeners scored a pair off of Bradley. Minor and Smith combined in the 9th to ice the game.

Inmates 9 – Tweeners 6 (Baptist Bowl): Wild game #1, with the Tweeners fighting back from a 6-1 deficit to tie the game in the 6th. A three-run Inmate 7th off of Minor sealed the win, causing spontaneous performances of the “Eye Gouge” in Beakless Chicken Land.

Tweeners 10 – Inmates 8 (Baptist Bowl): Wild game #2. Davies was unable to hold a 7-1 lead, allowing four Tweener homers – Parra had a three homer game! – as the wind was blowing out at the Baptist Bowl. The Inmates managed to have two baserunners on in the last of the 9th with Rizzo at the plate but the rally died. Of note: The Tweeners hit nine homers in the series. Seven were off of Davies. On the day, Davies allowed ten homers in four starts.

Tweeners 1, DVs 1

DVs split the final 2 @ Tweeners.  Tweeners take the season series 6-4. How embarrassing.

8/20 - Tweeners 2, DVs 1.  Chase Anderson wins the pitchers' duel vs. Teheran.  Minor gets a 5-out save,  Mancini and Schoop drove in the runs.  HR for A. Jones.

8/21 - DVs 11, Tweeners 3.  It really wasn't that close.  DVs 15 hits included a double, 2 triples, and 5 homers.  W - Strasburg, L - Ray.

DVs 3, Nads 2

DVs go 3-2 in hosting the Nads.
G 1 DVs 11-5
G2 DVs 8-5

G4 DVs 10-1
G5 Nads 5-1 (Chacin tossed a gem)

Rhinos 4, Fungoes 3

Game stories to come.

Fungoes 6, Drillers 4

Fungoes and Drillers played 10 games via net play on Friday in, what turned out to be, a marathon of restarts and freezes stretching game play out to about 14 hours (off and on play).  Fungoes updated windows in the morning and spent the rest of the day trying to un-update!!  Here are those results:

Game 1 at WTF (April 1 Opening Day):
Straily vs Walker ends in a 6-1 Fungo opening day victory.  Trout Homers and Doubles in the Fungo win while Straily, Wil Harris and David Robertson combine for the shutout.  Robertson claims the save by pitching out of a bases loaded jam in the 8th, and an easy 9th inning.

Game 2 at WTF (April 2):
Fungoes shut out the Drillers again winning it 1-0.  Kershaw, Hader and Robertson combine for the shutout while Robertson picks up another save for the home team.  Lucroy drives in the only run on the day.  Senzatella picks up the hard luck loss for the Drillers.

Game 3 At OU Field (May 16):
Drillers shut out the Fungoes and win this one big, 10-0.  Keuchel, Lyons, Nicasio and Infante combine on the 2 hit shutout.  Conforto, Abreu and Gonzalez all homer and drive in 3 (each) for the Drillers.

Game 4 at OU Field (May 17):
This one is all tied up after 9 innings and the Fungoes push across a run in the 10th and win it 4-3.  Kershaw and Fullmer are the starters but they are long gone when this one was decided.  Dom Leone gets the win while Nicasio is handed the loss.  Will Harris picks up the save.  Eric Hosmer gets the game winner with a bases loaded 1-out single in the 10th inning.  Drillers miss 3 BP homer chances (1-10) in this one.  That will be a trend today at OU.

Game 5 at OU Field (May 18):
Drillers win this one 8-2 with Berrios winning it while Marquez takes the loss.  Conforto and Abreu both hit homers for the Drillers.  Chisenhall drives in 3 for the Drillers.

Game 6 at WTF (June 25):
Drillers score 3 first inning runs and go on to win it 4-3.  Lyons gets the win in relief while Dan Straily takes the loss for the Home team.  Knebel picks up the save.  Eric Thames drives in 3 for the Drillers.

Game 7 at WTF (June 26):
Drillers score first with a single run in the first inning.  Fungoes answer with 2 in the bottum half of the first.  That would be all the scoring as the Fungoes hold on to win it 2-1.  Senzatella absorbs another tough luck loss while German Marquez wins it for the Fungoes.  Robertson picks up the save.  Trout drives in the runs for the Fungi.

Game 8 at WTF (June 27):
Drillers cruise to a 10-2 lead.  Fungoes make it close with a 6 run 8th but the Drillers answer with a 4 run 9th inning to win it 14-8.  Andrus, Cano and Thames all Homer for the Drill crew while Trout goes deep for the Home team.  Tallion gets the win.  Kennedy takes the loss.

Game 9 at OU Field (August 22):
Fungoes break open a tie score with three 9th inning runs.  Lindor smacks a 2 run HR to push the final score to 6-3.  Tepera earns the loss while O'Day gets the win for the fungi.  Robertson gets the save.  Matt Carpenter also homers for the Fungoes while Chisenhall goes deep for the Drillers.

Game 10 at OU Field (August 23):
Fungoes race out to a 6-2 lead with a 5 run 5th inning, wining it 8-5. Marquez gets the win while Walker takes the loss.   Lindor, Hosmer and Betts all go yard in the 5th inning for the Fungoes.  Cano and Conforto both homer for the Drillers.

Fungoes win 6 of 10 improving to 30-25 on the season.

FFTs 4, Tweeners 1

At The Grove:

4/1 - FFTs 9, Tweeners 8.  Best game of the set.  Home team appeared to be in control, scoring in 6 of the first 7 innings, but Tweeners score 2 in the 8th and 1 in the 9th, on Schebler's 2nd homer of the game, to force extra innings.   A 2-run Smoak bomb in the 10th is not enough, as FFTs get homers in the bottom half by former Tweener Mark Reynolds and Molina, the latter a 2-run walkoff.  W - Stripling, L - Petit.  Tweeners win the HR battle 5-4, but were hurt by the X-chart (2 Schoop errors, 1 by Cozart, and a hit past Smoak on what would have been an inning-ending DP).

4/2 - Tweeners 8, FFTs 5.  Ivan Nova was shaky early, but managed to go 7 for the win.  S - Petit, L - Leake.  2 more Smoak bombs (5 rbi).

In the Hooverdome:

5/16 - FFTs 4, Tweeners 2.  Mike Montgomery should have left the dome and headed to the track to bet the 4-7 exacta and daily double.  He surrendered 4 runs in 7 innings, allowing 4 hits while striking out 7 and walking 7, and every fucking walk was on a 4-7 roll.  W - Leake, S - Neris.  Grandal padded his stats with 2 solo homers.

5/17 - FFTs 19, Tweeners 2.  Visitors score 6 in the 8th and 6 in the 9th just to piss us off.  Nova couldn't even hang on for the sacrificial CG, carried off on a stretcher after 8.1.  Ten different FFTs drove in runs.  CG victory for Lynn.

5/18 - FFTs 4, Tweeners 1.  Pitchers' duel goes to the 9th tied at 1, when genius George Brett transfers the ball from Charlie Morton to the arson squad.  Dallas scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning plating 3 runs on
4 base hits. Steven Souza Jr kicked off the action when he was hit by a
pitch. Souza Jr took second on a stolen base. Yasiel Puig then laced a
single. Josh Reddick followed and he tripled driving in two more
baserunners. Michael Taylor dug into the batters box next, but he struck
out. Dejong kept things alive and laced a base-hit scoring the final run of
the inning. Dallas and Logan County each finished the afternoon with 9 hits.

The win was credited to Tommy Kahnle(3-2) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Kahnle got relief help from Jake McGee who gained credit for his 2nd save.
Yusmeiro Petit(1-2) was the loser in relief.

Not able to get much going
in recent weeks, Logan County is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of
18-29, worst in the division.

Demerit Update

For real this time. No fooling.

The Wahoos, Bees, and Inmates all get the first demerits of the year for failing to reach 40 games by the end of April.

Tweeners 2, DVs 1

Tweeners take 2 of 3 – first one was close as Chase Anderson went into the ninth and the Tweeners win 6-5. Game 2 had the Tweeners ahead all the way in  5-2 win behind Blake Snell. The finale had a Stanton grand slam in the 4th to pretty much put the game away in a 9-1 snoozer.

Fungoes 4, Wahoos 1

Fungoes and Wahoos finished up their season series today.  Fungoes win 4 out of 5, all netplay all at Wahoos.  The wind was definitely blowing out!

July 9:
Fungoes collect 23 hits and overcome 7 Wahoo HRs winning it 17-12.  Trout, Sal Perez and Hosmer all homer for the Fungoes, while Davis, Crawford and Seager homer for the Wahoos.  Gallo and Cain "go yard" twice each for the Hoos.  Sal Perez collects 5 hits including 4 doubles!  Trout and Perez each drive in 4.  Ian Kennedy got the win allowing 7 runs in 7 innings. Marco Estrada suffered the loss. He was unable to control the Waxahachie offense and allowed 17 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings. 'Perez led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,' Kennedy said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'

July 10:
Matt Harvey vs Jake Arrieta! Not the pitcher's duel we might have witnessed a few years back as these two both get shelled! Marcell Ozuna smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the SGP Wahoos won a heart-stopping victory over the Waxahachie Fungoes, 15 to 14. The game was won by SGP with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. After two were out Ozuna clubbed a solo home run making SGP the winners and sending the 19,548 fans home happy. SGP bats exploded in the 5th inning with 6 runs on 5 hits. It was roller coaster of a game as the lead changed hands 6 times. The victory went to Zach Britton who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Will Harris was tagged with the loss in relief.

August 24:
What an evening for the Waxahachie Fungoes! They shellacked the SGP Wahoos pitching for 16 runs while Lance McCullers, with relief help surrendered 2 runs to SGP. Mike Trout enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He doubled bringing home two baserunners in the 2nd inning and hit a bases-empty home run in the 6th inning. Waxahachie bats were hot in the 2nd inning when they had 8 runs on 7 hits. For the game Waxahachie out-hit SGP 19 to 9. Mike Foltynewicz absorbed the loss. He surrended 4 homeruns in his 6 innings.

August 25:
Daniel Murphy blasted a home run and had 3 RBI at The Reservation as the Waxahachie Fungoes topped the SGP Wahoos by the lopsided score of 13 to 3.The SGP fans didn't appreciate the big day Murphy had. He lined a base-hit in the 1st inning, doubled bringing in a run in the 3rd inning and smashed a two-run homer in the 7th inning. Brett Gardner banged out 5 hits for the Fungoes on the night. Waxahachie kept the scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 5 hits. Waxahachie had 21 hits for the night while SGP had 6. The win was credited to Ian Kennedy who went 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Kyle Gibson was given the loss. He allowed 4 homeruns in 7 innings of work. Gardner, Perez, Murphy and Betts all Homered for the Fungi.

August 26:
Fungoes erased a 5-3 deficit with an 8 run 5th inning and never looked back winning it 12-5.

In the 5 game series the Fungoes scored 72 runs while collecting 96 hits. 19 of those hits were HRs. Fungo team batting average went from .247 to .273 on the season while hitting the Wahoo pitching at a .384 clip. Fungoes are now 24-21 on the season.

Warpigs 5, Rhinos 0

It was not a happy Cinco de Mayo for the Rinoceronte against the Guerra de Cerdo.

Game 1 @ The Rhino Reserve - Warpigs win 4-3. In retrospect, this game was the offensive extravaganza of the series. The Rhinos scored single runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings, the latter coming on a BP homer (1-5) by Cody Bellinger. The Pigs' Corey Seager doubled home a run in the 4th to close the gap, and then Aaron Judge homered to lead off the 6th to tie the game at 2. The Pigs followed with 2 more runs in the 6th - both unearned - to take a 4-2 lead. Kris Bryant tried to make up for his error in the top of the inning by homering in the bottom of the inning, but both bullpens settled down with 3 shutout innings each. Luis Severino (6-2) went 6.1 for the win. Adam Warren got the final out for his 4th save.

Game 2 @ The Rhino Reserve - Warpigs win 2-1. Tommy Pham's 2-out single brought in the winning run in the top of the 7th. Raisel Iglesias (6-0) got the win in relief. Steve Cishek came on to get his 10th save.

Game 3 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 1-0 in 16 fucking innings. Thanks to Luis Castillo and Jacob deGrom, neither team (obviously) could generate any offense. The two teams' cleanup-hitting first basemen (Votto and Mauer) combined to go 0-for-13. The Pigs did have some chances. J.T. Realmuto tripled with 2 outs in the 7th. In the 8th, the Pigs loaded the bases with 1 out, but a 3-6-3 grounder ended the inning. Even more frustrating was the bottom of the 9th. Adrian Beltre led off with a walk. Seager was next and lofted a flyball to the sure-handed Jake Marisnick in cf (1e5), but he dropped the ball for a 2-base error. But, of course, the next 4 batters went K, LO, HBP, K. Seager finally ended the game with a 16th inning HR. Iglesias (7-0) gets another win in relief.

Game 4 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 4-0. There was still a lid on the basket for the Rhinos, getting only 4 hits. Joe Mauer hit a solo homer in the 6th to break up another scoreless battle. The fact that Mauer has W-power weighed on the mind of the Rhino manager, and when he loomed on deck in the next inning, with runners at 2nd & 3rd and Aaron Judge up with 2-outs, the intentional walk that had already happened twice in the series was eschewed. The fear of Mauer's awesome power (and maybe his clutch hits and lefty bat) resulted in pitches thrown to the Judge, who deposited one of them onto the roof of the Western Metal Supply Company. Severino (7-2) went 7 innings for the win, with Warren getting save #5.

Game 5 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 5-1. It took 29.1 innings for the Rhinos to score at the BallPork, and even that run was unearned, coming on a passed ball. Jake Odorizzi had a perfect game thru 4, but chose the 5th inning to allow his only hit and his only 2 walks... and that tired him. COME ON!!! So yeah, he exited with a 4-1 lead in the 5th inning... none too happy. Iglesias (8-0) was awarded the win.

The Rhinos scored 1 unearned run in 34 innings at the BallPork. In the 5 game series (52 innings) , the Rhinos only scored 5 runs (4 earned) on 29 hits. They hit .165. The Pigs weren't much better with the bats, hitting .205, although they did draw 29 walks and got hit by the pitch 7 times (4 by Pham). Despite rolling in his column in half of his ABs, Realmuto's triple in game 3 was his only hit in 19 tries. Bellinger was 2-21 with no walks for the Rhinos.

DVs 5, Goofs 0

Not a pretty series as the DVs sweep all 5 from the Goofs.
A few high(low) lights:
  • DVs outscore the Goofs 34-18, while hitting .306 and clubbing 10 home runs (however only 2 from Giancarlo Stanton, who now has 37 homers through 74 games)
  • DVs record a 3.60 ERA, well below their season average of 4.65
  • Goofs suffer through a 6.53 ERA, which was only held down by Lucas Sims (?), 15 IP of 3.00 ERA. Jordan Zimmerman logs an eye watering  162.00 ERA before he is unceremoniously pulled 1/3 of an inning into his start.
  • Whit Merrifield was the only Goof with 6 or more hits – and 3 of his 6 were home runs. Otherwise the Goofs hit .238, which was compounded by the 30 men left on base over the 5 games

Fungoes 4, Wahoos 1

Fungoes and Wahoos played 5 netplay games this evening.
Here are the results:
April 25 at WTF
Fungoes jump on Arrieta with 4 in the first and cruise to a 7-0 win.  Dan Straily and Trevor Hildenberger combine on the shutout.  Arrieta takes the loss.  Fungoes collected 10 hits while the Wahoos were held to 4.

April 26 at WTF:
Fungoes win this one 4-0 as Lance McCullers and the Fungo pen shut out the Wahoos for the second consecutive day.  Foltynewicz (who would spell their name like this??  Inmates, how the hell do you say Zciwenytlof???) takes the loss for the SGP-ers while David Robertson collects the save for the Fungoes.  Brett Gardner hit one deep for the Fungoes.

April 27 at WTF:
Wahoos finally break in that new scoreboard with a single run in the first inning.  This one turns into a battle with the Fungoes winning it 6-4.  Kershaw collects the win for the Fungi while Kyle Gibson takes the loss.  Another save for David Robertson as he collects number 12 on the season.  Kyle Seager homers for the Wahoos while Sal Perez goes deep for the Fungoes.

July 24 at WTF:
Wahoos again score first with one run in the first inning.  This back and forth game goes the Fungoes way when they plate 5 in the 7th inning to win it 6-3.  Foltynitzicxsz takes another loss for the Wahoos while Hildenberger (yep Hulkaburger) picks up a win in relief of Ian Kennedy for the Fungoes.  David Robertson picks up save number 13.  Trout goes "yard" for the Fungoes.

July 25 at WTF:
Wahoos take an early 4-0 lead.  Fungoes score 4 in the 3rd inning to tie it up.  Wahoos score 2 in the 5th and then hold on for the win, winning it 6-5.  Kyle Gibson gets the win for the Wahoos while German Marquez gets the loss.  Mark Melancon picks up the save for the Wahoos.  Seager and Fisher both homer for the Hoos while Trout and Daniel Murphy homer for the Fungoes.

Fungoes hitters battered the Wahoo pitching at a .329 clip while Fungo pitching had a 2.20 ERA during the 5 game series.  Fungoes have evened their record up at 20-20 on the season.

Sidewinders 3, DVs 0

Sidewinders swept the homestanding DVs the final 3 games as each team showed their true colors- Snakes great bullpen, true bashers and the DVs shaky starters and limited bullpen options. Final scores were 4-2, 12-6 and 10-4.
