At The Grove:
4/1 - FFTs 9, Tweeners 8. Best game of the set. Home team appeared to be in control, scoring in 6 of the first 7 innings, but Tweeners score 2 in the 8th and 1 in the 9th, on Schebler's 2nd homer of the game, to force extra innings. A 2-run Smoak bomb in the 10th is not enough, as FFTs get homers in the bottom half by former Tweener Mark Reynolds and Molina, the latter a 2-run walkoff. W - Stripling, L - Petit. Tweeners win the HR battle 5-4, but were hurt by the X-chart (2 Schoop errors, 1 by Cozart, and a hit past Smoak on what would have been an inning-ending DP).
4/2 - Tweeners 8, FFTs 5. Ivan Nova was shaky early, but managed to go 7 for the win. S - Petit, L - Leake. 2 more Smoak bombs (5 rbi).
In the Hooverdome:
5/16 - FFTs 4, Tweeners 2. Mike Montgomery should have left the dome and headed to the track to bet the 4-7 exacta and daily double. He surrendered 4 runs in 7 innings, allowing 4 hits while striking out 7 and walking 7, and every fucking walk was on a 4-7 roll. W - Leake, S - Neris. Grandal padded his stats with 2 solo homers.
5/17 - FFTs 19, Tweeners 2. Visitors score 6 in the 8th and 6 in the 9th just to piss us off. Nova couldn't even hang on for the sacrificial CG, carried off on a stretcher after 8.1. Ten different FFTs drove in runs. CG victory for Lynn.
5/18 - FFTs 4, Tweeners 1. Pitchers' duel goes to the 9th tied at 1, when genius George Brett transfers the ball from Charlie Morton to the arson squad. Dallas scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning plating 3 runs on
4 base hits. Steven Souza Jr kicked off the action when he was hit by a
pitch. Souza Jr took second on a stolen base. Yasiel Puig then laced a
single. Josh Reddick followed and he tripled driving in two more
baserunners. Michael Taylor dug into the batters box next, but he struck
out. Dejong kept things alive and laced a base-hit scoring the final run of
the inning. Dallas and Logan County each finished the afternoon with 9 hits.
The win was credited to Tommy Kahnle(3-2) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Kahnle got relief help from Jake McGee who gained credit for his 2nd save.
Yusmeiro Petit(1-2) was the loser in relief.
Not able to get much going
in recent weeks, Logan County is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of
18-29, worst in the division.
