Fungoes 4, Wahoos 1

Fungoes and Wahoos finished up their season series today.  Fungoes win 4 out of 5, all netplay all at Wahoos.  The wind was definitely blowing out!

July 9:
Fungoes collect 23 hits and overcome 7 Wahoo HRs winning it 17-12.  Trout, Sal Perez and Hosmer all homer for the Fungoes, while Davis, Crawford and Seager homer for the Wahoos.  Gallo and Cain "go yard" twice each for the Hoos.  Sal Perez collects 5 hits including 4 doubles!  Trout and Perez each drive in 4.  Ian Kennedy got the win allowing 7 runs in 7 innings. Marco Estrada suffered the loss. He was unable to control the Waxahachie offense and allowed 17 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings. 'Perez led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,' Kennedy said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'

July 10:
Matt Harvey vs Jake Arrieta! Not the pitcher's duel we might have witnessed a few years back as these two both get shelled! Marcell Ozuna smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the SGP Wahoos won a heart-stopping victory over the Waxahachie Fungoes, 15 to 14. The game was won by SGP with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. After two were out Ozuna clubbed a solo home run making SGP the winners and sending the 19,548 fans home happy. SGP bats exploded in the 5th inning with 6 runs on 5 hits. It was roller coaster of a game as the lead changed hands 6 times. The victory went to Zach Britton who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Will Harris was tagged with the loss in relief.

August 24:
What an evening for the Waxahachie Fungoes! They shellacked the SGP Wahoos pitching for 16 runs while Lance McCullers, with relief help surrendered 2 runs to SGP. Mike Trout enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He doubled bringing home two baserunners in the 2nd inning and hit a bases-empty home run in the 6th inning. Waxahachie bats were hot in the 2nd inning when they had 8 runs on 7 hits. For the game Waxahachie out-hit SGP 19 to 9. Mike Foltynewicz absorbed the loss. He surrended 4 homeruns in his 6 innings.

August 25:
Daniel Murphy blasted a home run and had 3 RBI at The Reservation as the Waxahachie Fungoes topped the SGP Wahoos by the lopsided score of 13 to 3.The SGP fans didn't appreciate the big day Murphy had. He lined a base-hit in the 1st inning, doubled bringing in a run in the 3rd inning and smashed a two-run homer in the 7th inning. Brett Gardner banged out 5 hits for the Fungoes on the night. Waxahachie kept the scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 5 hits. Waxahachie had 21 hits for the night while SGP had 6. The win was credited to Ian Kennedy who went 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Kyle Gibson was given the loss. He allowed 4 homeruns in 7 innings of work. Gardner, Perez, Murphy and Betts all Homered for the Fungi.

August 26:
Fungoes erased a 5-3 deficit with an 8 run 5th inning and never looked back winning it 12-5.

In the 5 game series the Fungoes scored 72 runs while collecting 96 hits. 19 of those hits were HRs. Fungo team batting average went from .247 to .273 on the season while hitting the Wahoo pitching at a .384 clip. Fungoes are now 24-21 on the season.
