Game One-
The Fungoes blew open a scoreless tie with a five-run outburst in the
4th, and took control with three more in the 5th. Six runs in the 8th
capped the whitewash of the home team in a 15-4 romp. Murphy went 4 for
4 and Trout launched two taters.
Game Two-The Fungoes exploded for four runs in the 4th to take a 5-1
lead. The Zaps countered with four runs in the 7th. A Tomlinson triple
capped a two-run rally by the visitors in the top of the 9th, and Harris
made it stand by getting Goldie to hit a 2-out groundout with runners at
the corners.
Game Three-Kershaw and the Fungoe pen outdueled Greinke to win 3-2.
Trout’s two-out two-run tater in the top of the sixth proved the
difference as Harris nailed down his second save in as many games.
Game Four-The Zaps got one on with two outs in the bottom of the first,
and then used three hits and a walk to jump on Price early. After adding
another run in the 2nd Scherzer was able to limit the Fungoes bats to 2
runs, and the home town bullpen sealed the deal for a 4-2 win.
Game Five-The Fungoes jumped out to a 3-0 when they scored two in the
top of the third. The Zaps answered with one run in three of the next
four innings to tie it. In the top of the 8th Trout singled, Zimmerman
singled him to third, and Carpenter hit a sac fly to put the bad guys
ahead. Robertson and Harris nailed down the save in a 4-3 Fungoe win.
