Zaps 9 – Inmates 6: Joey Bats hit the first pitch of the game into the belfry of the neighboring Catholic Church, and things only got worse for the Inmates. Pineda allowed eight runs in the inning before zipping his trousers, leaving the Beakless Chicken Gang in an 8-0 hole before even getting to bat. The Inmates fought back, but shell-shocked is no way to begin a series. Kluber picked up the W, pitching six not particularly effective innings.
Inmates 4 – Zaps 3 (11 innings): Adam Jones hit a two-out solo homer in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra-innings, and then doubled home Rizzo with the winning run in the bottom of the 11th to cheat the visiting Pastas out of a victory.
Inmates 11 – Zaps 2: JD Martinez and Jason Castro both hit grand slams, Rizzo and Jones hit solo shots, and the Inmates blasted Greinke and the Zaps in a game where not much went wrong for the Inmates and not much went right for the Carb Crew.
Zaps 7 – Inmates 5: A see-saw match, with the Zaps jumping out to an early 4-0 lead against McHugh. The Inmates scratch back to take a 5-4 lead on a three-run HR by Ramos, only to have Machado hit a two-run tater in the 9th to ice the game for the bad guys.
Zaps 4 – Inmates 1: All runs scored on homers – McCutchen (2-run shot), Goldie and Rendon for the Zaps; Martinez for the Inmates.
