Fungoes 6, Inmates 4

From The HEAD INMATE...

Face-to-face games in Cedar Hill on Friday:

Inmates 6 – Fungoes 1 Vazquez shuts down the Fungoids; Ankiel hits 3-run homer. Inmates dominate.

Fungoes 13 – Inmates 8 Ugliness abounds. Fungoe 8-run 7th seals the deal. Inmates commit three errors and bullpen self-incinerates.

Inmates 5 – Fungoes 0 Wolf tosses 3-hit shutout and Guillen hits 3-run homer.

Fungoes 3 – Inmates 2 (12) Game 1 of the Herman Wheeler Doubleheader is close, well-played, and totally out of character for both teams. Inmates out hit Fungoes 14-7, but can’t hit in the clutch.

Fungoes 11 – Inmates 2 Game 2 is everything Game 1 wasn’t: ugly, poorly played, and not even close. Villanueva allows 9 unearned runs, including a grand slam. Inmates commit three more errors. The only bright thing for the Inmates is the game ended. Fungoes sweep DH.

Fungoes 9 – Inmates 8 Inmates commit 4 errors, the game-winner is unearned, and Saturday morning softball leagues have nothing on this game.

Inmates 2 – Fungoes 1 Santana out-duels Mussina in a classic match-up of team aces.

Inmates 4 – Fungoes 1 Vazquez takes a shutout into the 9th and Daniel Murphy hits a 2-run spud as Fungoe hitters fail to hit for the second straight game.

Fungoes 3 – Inmates 0 Mussina tosses another gem while Inmate defense has 2 more errors.

Fungoes 5 – Inmates 4 Santana gives up a grand slam and gets injured, making the 3 taters hit by the Inmates a moot point.

Inmates now 25-49.
