Drillers 4, Inmates 1

Drillers go 4-1 vs Inmates in a CM click off.

April 7: David Bush held the Inmates to 3 hits at Wrigley Field where the Drillers beat the Inmates by the score of 5 to 1. Drillers scored 3 runs in the 4th inning with the help of 5 hits. They ended up being the winning runs. Drillers totaled 11 hits on the afternoon. Bush(6-3) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Brett Myers(0-2)absorbed the loss. He allowed 5 runs and 10 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings.

April 8: Kevin Slowey went 9 strong innings at Wrigley Field as the Drillers came back dramatically to top the Inmates by the score of 3 to 2. Drillers had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs using 3 hits. Jacoby Ellsbury led off the inning for OU when he stroked a single. Ellsbury was safe at second on a stolen base. Two outs later Ryan Ludwick stepped up to the plate and he doubled. Travis Metcalf followed and he cracked a two-run shot (his 5th of the season). Both teams finished the game with 5 hits. Slowey(10-2) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Jorge Campillo(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was unable to retire a batter allowing 1 hit and no walks. 'What a game!,' Slowey said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't believe it!'

June 30:James Shields delivered 7 solid innings as the Drillers beat the Inmates by a score of 5 to 1. Inmates never recovered after OU took the lead in the 3rd inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. That was all the offense they were to need. OU had 8 hits for the game and the Inmates had 4. The victory went to Shields(4-10) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run. Shields was helped out by Hong-Chih Kuo who recorded his 5th save. The loss was charged to Johan Santana(0-1).

July 1: David Bush came through with a solid 6 innings at Wrigley Field as the OU Drillers won in their last at-bat beating the STEVE INMATES by the count of 2 to 1. The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Nick Johnson smacked a single. Travis Metcalf came next and he was hit by a pitch. Evan Longoria then stroked a single making OU the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. OU had only 6 hits for the game. The win was credited to Hong-Chih Kuo(2-2) who went 3 innings allowing 1 run.Jorge Campillo(0-2) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and no walks in 1 and 2/3 innings.

July 2: David Murphy had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Wrigley Field as the Inmates beat the OU Drillers by the count of 3 to 2. Brett Myers(1-2) delivered a fine performance for the Inmates. He allowed 4 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings. Inmates out-hit Drillers for the game, 10 hits to 6. Jorge Campillo was credited with his 1st save. Kevin Slowey(10-3) suffered the loss. 'Thankfully we got ourselves a win', Myers said. 'It's great to be back on the winning side of things.'
