Warpigs 3, Buckeyes 0

The Buckeye season is coming to a close very early... but maybe not early enough.

All games were played at Shriveled Testicle Park

Game 1 - Warpigs win 8-2. In a 1st inning almost identical to the first game two days ago, 8 straight Pigs reach base via single or walk. After the 6-run 1st inning, the two teams played even the rest of the way. Lance Lynn (8-2) went 5, and Aaron Loup and Anthony Varvaro mopped up against the all-lefty Buckeye lineup, allowing only 1 walk over the 4 innings.

Game 2 - Warpigs win 7-3. The Pigs scored 2 runs in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th innings. Garrett Richards (5-3) wasn't sharp, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs (2 earned) in 5 innings, but Loup and Varvaro cruised through the final 4 innings again.

Game 3 - Warpigs win 13-2. The 4th of July fireworks started late. The game was only 5-2 going to the 8th, but the Pigs scored 4 in the 8th and another 4 in the 9th. The 4 runs in the 9th were all unearned due to a boot by Jason Castro (c-e3) to start the inning and a 2-out, 3-base error by Leonys Martin. Adam Wainwright (12-2) left after 5, and Varvaro and Loup finished up again. The unlikely star of the game was Cory Spangenberg. He spent this series giving Victor Martinez a break and hoping to find some of those BP homers in the 1-20 park. He didn't do much the first four games, and he didn't hit a homer the whole series, but he revealed a hidden talent in this last game. He singled 4 times and stole 2nd all 4 times. I didn't even realize until after the 2nd one that he gets his lead on 2-12.
