Here at Baseball Tonight, we think the key to this deal was picking up the 6th pick in the draft. Call me crazy, but Aaron Rowand is little more than a defensive option who can hit lefties. That No. 6 pick could be a top-notch reliever or a big-time hitter or top-tier prospect. Rowand, eh, a 31-year-old outfielder who can hit a little and doesn't walk.

Damn, sounds like we got snookered again. I'll figure this shit out someday.

I wouldn't go that far. With a little luck, both teams will benefit from this trade. Is there a reason to "win" trades? I just don't want to "lose" them.

To be sure, the 6th pick in the draft will be critical to determine the winner and loser in this deal. BUT - if one looks at the Wahoos drafting prowess, or lack thereof, one is reminded that the young Wahoo hasn't had the success that might be needed here to turn the deal in his favor. Fausto Carmona, Travis Buck, Augie Ojeda and Josh Phelps are all recent examples of picks made by the young brave before the 6th round in last year's draft. Clearly he will have to pick up the pace to make the deal in his favor.
