Standings Update 6/1/08

As we head into summer, the Killer Bees have the best overall record in the league. They lead the AWD and have a 9 game lead over the Sidewinders. NASOMA's second best record belongs to the DVs, although they are only 3 games ahead of the Drillers in the NERDD. The Rhinos haven't been heard from in awhile, but they still narrowly lead the Wahoos in the BUD. An even closer race is going on in the MFD, where the Inmates lead the Buckeyes by a half game and the Nads by 2.

Speaking of the Nads... they haven't played a game in over two months. They're still in good shape with 74 games played, but I expect to see some Nad action this month. They have lain dormant in their Nad Scrotum for much too long.

The Warpigs, Mavs, Fungoes, and FFTs are in a battle for the worst record. Sadly, the only thing waiting at the end of the season is the rights to draft Cliff Lee.

Below are the standings at the end of May. June and July have a higher number of required games to be played, so get on the ball! And remember to not only report the results to Pigman Publishing and your opponent, but also get those stats or game files sent to your opponent as well. Don't be like the Snakeman!!!

And if you are missing results from somebody, alert the Demerit Police (and the team with the results, of course). Once my Pig stats are updated, I'll post some of them in the comments section. Please do the same if you want. It's nice to read about who's hot and who's not.

A few notes on DV stats throug 70+ games: Holliday is hitting .376/18/64 while Mags is .351/13/41. His RBI's have been held down due to his spot in the leadoff and #2 spot, but Mike Lowell has picked up the slack lower in the order with .313/16/62. Utley shares the team lead in homers with 18, and we have six players on pace to hit 30, and Ryan Ludwick has hit 13 in 154 ABs. Team average is .305.
Pitching is a different story - team ERA of 4.80 with 89 homers, led by Kazmir and Maine giving up 17 each in approx. 100 innings, and Steve "Panty" Shields yielding 9 in 35 innings. In spite of that, Kaz has a 10-5 record in 19 starts, Jenks leads the way with 10 saves. Bright spot for the staff is the 1.77 ratio of K's to BB's as it tends to mitigate the effect of the long ball.

Thru 50 games, the Pigs suck. Pujols is hitting 242/301/404 and that's coming off a recent hot streak. Pujols and Pronk lead the team with 8 HRs. VMart leads in RBI with 29. On the positive side, Granderson is on pace to break the team record in triples. The team is hitting 248. We've been outscored 301-203 and outhomered 71-54.

As for the pitching, the team ERA is 5.66. Jake Westbrook, thru 9 starts, has allowed 71 hits, 10 homers, and 53 runs (44 earned) in only 48 innings. He is 0-7. Thru the first 47 games, we had only 1 complete game. Now we have 4. Thanks Fungoes!
