We knocked out 10 vs. Goofs, winning 9. A step ahead of Demerit Man once again.
At The Magic Kingdom:
4/3 - Goofs 4, Tweeners 0. W - Graveman, S - Stephenson, L - MadBum. HR and 3 RBI for Bell. Thereafter, overconfident Goofs begin phoning it in.
4/4 - Tweeners 2-1 (13 inn). Mancini drove in both runs with doubles in the 6th & 13th. W - Tuivailala, S - Minor, L - Stephenson.
4/5 - Tweeners 8-3. W - Montgomery, L - Newcomb. Homers for Pillar and Parra, 4 RBI for Smoak.
4/6 - Tweeners 4-1. 2-hitter CG for Nova, who allowed only a Duda dinger. L - Wheeler. HR and 2 more RBI for Smoak.
At The Hooverdome:
5/21 - Tweeners 18-2. Another CG win for Nova. L - Rodriguez. Tweeners hitters who failed to drive in any runs were fined in kangaroo court.
5/22 - Tweeners 6-1. W - Morton, L - Graveman. Homers by Smoak and Schebler, and by Herrera for the Goofs only run.
5/23 - Tweeners 7-5. W - Anderson, S - Petit, L - Cobb. Goofs actually jumped out to a 4 run lead, but Tweeners strike for 2 in the 3rd and 5 in the 5th. Homers for Suarez, Choo, Cozart, Springer, and Schebler (3-run shot).
Back to Orlando:
7/2 - Tweeners 9-7. Goofs led early, but the had to score 3 in the 9th to make it look respectable. W - Hernandez, S - Minor, L - Rodriguez. Jorge Polanco's 2-out, 3-run, pinch-hit double in the 8th was yuge.
7/3 - Tweeners 8-0. In something akin to the Twilight Zone, another CG victory for Ivan Nova, this a 5 hit shutout. L - Graveman. It was actually a competitive contest until Tweeners plated 5 in the 9th. Springer homered.
7/4 - Tweeners 5-0. Following the Nova humiliation, Goofs again fail to score. A 3-hitter for MadBum. Alex Cobb was the loser. When questioned about his counterpart after the
game, Cobb was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Bumgarner brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game! At least the Independence Day post-game fireworks lived up to the hype.
