Fungoes 4, Rhinos 3

Fungoes win 4 of 7 vs Rhinos.  
All games net play

July 20 at the Reserve:
Dan Straily went 6 strong innings at The Rhino Reserve where the Waxahachie
Fungoes beat the McDale Rhinos in 10 innings by the score of 1 to 0.This one was a scoreless tie after nine.  Finally, Waxahachie pulled the gameout in the 10th inning.  Salvador Perez drew a walk.  Mondesi pinch ran and stolesecond base.  Mondesi was a wild man on the base paths as he quickly stole third base. 
Francisco Lindor came up and he worked the squeeze play to perfectionscoring the run.  Waxahachie had only 3 hits for the game. The victory went to Dominic Leone(2-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing noruns. Leone got help from David Robertson who was credited with his 26thsave.  Chris Devenski(2-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
 
July 21 at the Reserve:
Left fielder Cody Bellinger went yard as the McDale Rhinos beat the Waxahachie

Fungoes by a score of 3 to 1.

Waxahachie found themselves trailing quickly as the McDale bats came through

in the first inning plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits.  McDale

had only 5 hits for the night. 

The victory was credited to Kevin Gausman, who went 6 and 2/3 innings,

allowing 1 run. Tanner Roark recorded the save, his 7th.  Joe Musgrove(2-5)

was tagged with the loss.  

July 22 at the Reserve:
At The Rhino Reserve the Waxahachie Fungoes offense put up 6 runs on the
scoreboard in the 4th inning and outscored the McDale Rhinos in 12 innings 10
to 7.
Both teams had scored 7 runs after nine full innings.  Waxahachie came out the
victor in the 12th inning.  After an out was recorded, Eric Hosmer opened up
the rally as he smacked a single.  Mike Trout next to the plate and he banged
out a single.  Mookie Betts then hit a deep fly bringing in a run.  Salvador
Perez came up and he popped a two-run clout over the fence.  McDale out-hit
Waxahachie 14 to 11, but Waxahachie ended up with more runs.
Pedro Baez(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no
runs. Baez got help from David Robertson who earned his 27th save.  Tanner
Roark took the loss in relief. 

September 6 at WTF:
Kevin Gausman had an impressive outing and Wil Myers hit 2 doubles and had 2
RBI at WTF Field where the McDale Rhinos beat the Waxahachie Fungoes 9 to

1.  
Waxahachie fell behind quickly as the McDale offense came through in the first

inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits.  That early run support was

enough for Gausman(5-4) and McDale.  McDale had a total of 8 hits for the

game. 

The losing pitcher was Clayton Kershaw(6-5).  'I thought it was my best

performance in a long time,' said Gausman. 'I had good command early in the

game. I had my control and composure and everything went well.'

September 7 at WTF:
The Waxahachie Fungoes and the McDale Rhinos locked up in an exciting one-run

game at WTF Field.  The final score was the Waxahachie Fungoes 2, the McDale

Rhinos 1 in 10 innings.

Both teams had scored 1 run after nine full innings.  Waxahachie won it in

the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Gregory Polanco ripped a solo

home run giving Waxahachie the win as 47,393 happy fans joyfully celebrated.

McDale had 6 hits in the game while Waxahachie had 2, but Waxahachie had the

more timely hits. 

Josh Hader(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no

runs. Arodys Vizcaino(0-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He pitched 1

inning and surrendered 1 hit and no walks.

September 8 at WTF:
Matt Carpenter hit 2 doubles as the Waxahachie Fungoes beat the McDale Rhinos

by a score of 4 to 3.

McDale lost it in the 8th inning when Waxahachie did all their damage scoring

4 runners on 3 hits.  The key at-bat was by Mookie Betts who elicited a roar

from the hometown fans when he electrified the crowd with a Grand Slam home

run.  McDale had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

Pedro Baez(3-1) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Tanner

Roark was hit with the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 1 hit

in 1/3 of an inning. 


September 9 at WTF:
In a one-sided affiar at WTF Field the final score was the McDale Rhinos 8,
the Waxahachie Fungoes 2.
Willson Contreras enjoyed a fine evening at the plate.  He belted a three-run
homer in the 2nd inning and doubled scoring a run in the 5th inning.  For the
game McDale out-hit Waxahachie 10 to 4.
The victory was credited to Aaron Nola(7-3) who went 8 innings, allowing 2
runs. The losing pitcher was Matt Harvey(1-2).  He allowed 8 runs and 10 hits
in 9 innings. 

Fungoes are now 43-43.
