Demerits

Here are the current consequences for demerits:

Consequences
(these start in 2009)
0-2 demerits: no consequence
3 demerits: you are limited to a max of 20 players at the March cut down.
4 demerits: you are limited to a max of 18 players
5 demerits: 16 players
6 demerits: 14 players
7 demerits: 12 players
8 or more demerits: 10 players max

We had talked about altering it a bit. How about this:

Consequences (these start in 2009)
0-2 demerits: no consequence
3-4 demerits: you are limited to a max of 20 players at the March cut down.
5-6 demerits: you are limited to a max of 18 players
7-8 demerits: 16 players
9-14 demerits: 14 players
15 or more demerits: 12 players max

How about this:
0-3 demerits: no consequence.
4-6 demerits: limited to 22 players at the March cut.
7-9 demerits: limited to 20 players at the March cut.
10+ demerits: limited to 18 players at the March cut.

Should still give plenty of incitive to get the games played.

This is something on my mind...

This year the Rhinos were heavily penalized for leaving games on his laptop and not sending results. He didn't know how and had to be prodded before he found help.

Had he been more proactive in getting the help, that would have greatly reduced the amount of demerits he had. All he had to do was ask somebody.

I don't want to see people penalized. I love the fact that, for the most part, there has been more communication in NASOMA this season than there has been in years.

So how about when/if somebody has an issue -- whether personally with somebody or with something going on the league -- get it out on the table and solve it. Whether it's asking for help or for a CM from somebody or being the one to step out and end a disagreement with a leaguemate.

We need to remember that what 1 person does can have a direct effect on the lives of 15 other people.

Fungoes definitely agree that there has been great communication this year, and that is a welcome change. I have really enjoyed the game updates too along with the manager commentary, and the standings page is excellent....all good stuff. The website is a must, it is a great place to get your NASOMA high on!

As for getting a demerit for allowing someone to play games on your pc and then getting nailed for 7 or 8 demerits...ouch. If someone changes residency during the season and it takes a while to get the internet up and running, well then that may need to be talked about.

Now with all that said, I definitely think we do need this new system Garth. It may not sound like it, but I am for it, just not in the present form. I believe that Rick has given us a good compromise. I was just looking for a way to minimize the penalties so, no one either; (1) is forced to trade away everything and loses a season, or (2) considers leaving the league over it.

I don't usually speak out about most issues because I don't want to antagonize anyone....I guess I'm just trying to say that we have a great thing here with our NASOMA family, lets keep it going!

I didn't mean to make it sound like I don't want to do the demerits.

I was just saying that whatever the penalties are really aren't the big thing. It's the idea of everybody participating and doing this because they want to.

The issue about the Rhino laptop is absurd! If two teams are going to borrow someone else's laptop to play games NOT involving the owner of said laptop, it's up to them to scrape the files off. If you don't have a way of doing this, get out the dice and roll them and leave the laptop alone!

Punishing a team for someone else's stupidity/laziness is unacceptable.

I hate it when dd makes a point that has me thinking, "you know, he's probably right"
