2011 NASOMA Mock Draft - Pre-Card Edition

No school today because of the ice... I am really tired of hearing about the Super Bowl... And there are still no cards. So here's something...

1. Mavs - Bryce Harper (uncarded) - Assuming the Mavs are rebuilding, this pick is a can of corn. Harper is probably the most hyped prospect to come along. Apparently for good reason.

2. Zaps - Joaquin Benoit - The league's best team adds the draft's best reliever.

3. Warpigs - Shawn Marcum - Arguably the best starting pitcher in the draft. Would make a good companion to Cliff Lee and Trevor Cahill.

4. Inmates - Brett Myers - The other guy who may be the best starting pitcher in the draft. Sadly for Myers, becoming an Inmate shortens his shelf life.

5. Fungoes - Ike Davis - Berkman is moving to the St. Louis outfield and is getting old anyway. Davis could man 1b for the Fungoes for a long, long time.

6. SuperGoofs - Jaime Garcia - A lefty starter, but a good one.

7. SuperGoofs - Jhoulys Chacin - Another young pitcher, and this one is right-handed and can start or relieve.

8. Nads - Aubrey Huff - The best full-time hitter in the draft. Would play LF for the Nads and bat right in the middle of the order.

9. Killer Bees - Domonick Brown - The highest ranked prospect of those with cards. The Bees need outfield help, and Brown will take Werth's place in RF for the Phillies.

10. Tweeners - Jose Tabata - I don't know if this is a fitting pick or not - at 22 he is already a good glove in LF... He has speed and a little power... What I DO know is that I can HEAR the Tweeners calling out his name. Shhh! Listen! Can you hear it??? I can.

11. Fungoes - Danny Espinosa - Only 100 AB, and not a great card for right now, but probably the next big thing at shortstop.

12. Buckeyes - Billy Wagner - The best lefty reliever by far. He could save 60 games for the Buckeyes.

13. Drillers - Evan Meek - Meek is a steal here. Good thing, too. The Drillers biggest worry in this draft is getting the option of taking Wagner, who he drafted last year as an uncarded player and then cut.

14. Buckeyes - John Buck - Good enough to bat clean up vs LHP; enough AB to play almost every day at catcher. He's got tons of power and is only 30.

15. Rhinos - Tim Stauffer - The Rhinos need pitching, and Stauffer gives them 83 innings of quality start/relief.

16. Zaps - Mike Trout (uncarded) - Disappointed that Harper went so quickly, the Zaps grab Trout, who is also uncarded and actually ranked ahead of Harper in most prospect ratings.
