Game 1 - In a good matchup it was the NADS 5, the DRILLERS 2. Doug Fister delivered a fine performance allowing 7 hits and no walks in 8 innings.

Game 2 - Jay Bruce went deep and had 3 RBI as the DRILLERS bested

the NADS 4 to 1. 

Game 3 - Tyler Colvin had 3 base hits as the NADS beat the DRILLERS 

6 to 4.

 

Game 4 - NADS were battered 9 to 3 by the DRILLERS.

Game 5 - Alex Cobb completed the game without help from the bullpen and Paul Konerko hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the DRILLERS defeated the NADS 7 to 1

 

Zaps 3, Nads 2

Game 1 - Center fielder Andrew McCutchen had 4 hits as the VIVAZAPASTAS bested the NADS in 11 innings 6 to 3.

Game 2 - In a two run game the TRISTAN VIVAZAPASTAS got by the DAVE NADS by the score of 4 to 2. The critical plate appearance was by Dayan Viciedo who silenced the stadium when he rifled a three-run blast.

Game 3 - VIVAZAPASTAS got by the NADS by the score of 5 to 2. Zack Greinke(5-1) got the win allowing 1 run in 6 innings.

Game 4 –NADS defeated the TRISTAN VIVAZAPASTAS by a score of 8 to 7. The win was credited to Collmenter(3-5) who went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs.

Game 5 -Wade Miley was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the NADS defeated the VIVAZAPASTAS by the score of 8 to

4. 

Snake Deals

The Sidewinders sent Craig Stammen to the Killer Bees for Michael Bourn.

Then the Sidewinders traded Carlos Beltran to the Wahoos for the Rhino 2nd and the Buckeye 5th.

Zaps have lost 10 in a row. Quick played them so I can blame Hal. I'm done at home.

    Game 1-Second baseman Robinson Cano smacked 2 homeruns at PNC Park as the JOSE RHINOS beat the slumping TRISTAN VIVAZAPASTAS in 10 innings 5 to 4. The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings. JOSE won the hard fought contest in the 10th inning. B.J. Upton doubled. Joey Votto stepped into the batter's box and he delivered a one-base hit. After another out, Alex Gordon stepped in and he grounded into a double play. JOSE finished with 15 hits while TRISTAN ended up with 11. The victory was credited to Darren O'Day(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no runs. Kenley Jansen was credited with his 3rd save. Bobby Parnell(4-4) was the losing pitcher in relief.

Game 2- Ryan Braun smashed 2 homeruns at PNC Park where the JOSE RHINOS beat the struggling TRISTAN VIVAZAPASTAS 11 to 3. Braun was unconscious out there. While TRISTAN pitching was serving softballs up there for him to hit, the TRISTAN fans were serving up some hardball barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel for the fire. He delivered a solo blast in the 4th inning, hit a single in the 6th inning and blasted a Grand Slam homerun in the 8th inning. JOSE banged out 12 hits on the afternoon. Joe Kelly(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 3 runs. The losing pitcher was Jaime Garcia(5-5).

Game 3-The JOSE RHINOS put 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 8th inning and nipped the reeling TRISTAN VIVAZAPASTAS 9 to 8 at PNC Park in a hard fought contest. Octavio Dotel(2-1) got the win with a nice relief outing. He surrendered only 1 hit and 1 walk in 2 and 2/3 innings dropping his ERA from 4.50 to 3.68. Dotel got relief help from Kenley Jansen who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 4th save. Travis Blackley(4-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and no walks in 2 innings.

Game 4-Josh Beckett had a strong outing at PNC Park where the JOSE RHINOS beat the floundering TRISTAN VIVAZAPASTAS 5 to 1. Beckett(1-1) pitched a solid game. He didn't give up much, just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.50 to 3.00. JOSE had 8 hits for the afternoon. Zack Greinke(13-8) absorbed the loss. He pitched 7 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 walks. 'I've been working on a few things in my delivery, and I think I'm hitting a good groove.' Beckett said after the game. 'I'm ready to start another game tomorrow!'

Game 5-Alex Gordon hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI and Edwin Jackson had a complete game at PNC Park where the JOSE RHINOS beat the floundering TRISTAN VIVAZAPASTAS by the score of 7 to 1. JOSE drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning scoring one runner using 2 hits. JOSE managed 16 hits in their victory. Jackson(4-4) allowed 1 run on the game. Jaime Garcia(5-6) suffered the loss. He was touched for 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Playoff Picture Almost Cleared Up

The Mavs clinched the MFD title today and the #2 seed (and a first round bye) for the post season. The Warpigs (BUD Champs) have sewn up the #1 seed, and the SuperGoofs (AWD Champs) have the #4 seed. The Inmates will probably be the #3 seed and earn the HWD title, but at present has a magic number of 5 over the Rhinos.

There are 3 teams battling for the 2 Wild Card spots. No one has clinched yet, but the Buckeyes and Zaps have a lead over the Rhinos.

FUNGOES 6 – LDMF 0 (WTF): Harvey handcuffs the LDMF for the second one-hitter tossed at the Inmates by Fungoe pitchers this year. An 8^th inning single by Drew prevents the no-no. Billingsley pitched a CG loss.

 

FUNGOES 7 – INMATES 6 (11 innings – WTF): With two outs in the bottom of the 9^th and a 6-5 lead, Bastard-O serves up a BP tater to tie the game. Grilli serves up the game-winning tater in the 11^th.

 

INMATES 6 – FUNGOES 5 (10 innings – WTF): Fungoes score two in the bottom of the 9^th to send the game into extra innings. Late inning Inmate defender Drew makes two errors. Parra base-running heroics win the game for the Inmates in the 10^th.  With two outs, Pierzynski walked. Parra came in to pinch-run, and promptly stole second, then third with the throw going into left field allowing Parra to score.

 

INMATES 4 – FUNGOES 2 (Baptist Bowl): CG win for Floyd. A two-run tater in the 9^th accounts for the only two Fungoe scores.

 

INMATES 6 – FUNGOES 5 (14 innings – Baptist Bowl): Norris is pulled in the 1^st with the bases loaded and no outs. Both teams hit solo homers in the 12^th; Inmates win in 14^th on a single/2-base error followed by a hit with everyone in. Inmates use 9 pitchers.

 

INMATES 6 – FUNGOES 2 (DH game 1 – Baptist Bowl): A Beltre two-run tater in the 4^th puts the Inmates ahead for good. Stults gets 3-inning save.

 

INMATES 6 – FUNGOES 2 (DH game 2 – Baptist Bowl): Forsythe and Teixeira both homer off of Kershaw in the 6^th, while Santana gives the bullpen a break with a CG win.

First of all, next to your team name at the top of the chart, there is a number in parenthesis. That number represents how many Reserve Spots you own. Then, at the bottom of your roster, there are a series of numbers highlighted in yellow. These are your own draft picks that you still own. The numbers are 1-12. If a number is missing, that means you no longer own that pick. Below that, highlighted in some purple-ish color are the picks you have acquired from other teams.

INMATES 2 – FUNGOES 0 (WTF): The Inmates return the shutout favor, holding the Fungi to five hits.  Forsythe makes yet another error.

 

INMATES 5 – FUNGOES 3 (WTF): Billingsley allows a three-run tater in the 1^st, then the Fungoes quit scoring. A Parra 2-run double in the 8^th ices the game for the Inmates.

 

INMATES 2 – FUNGOES 1 (WTF): Forsythe kicks another chance, allowing the only run off of Inmate pitching. Parra once again gets the game winner, yhis time a tater in the 3^rd.

 

FUNGOES 7 – INMATES 4 (Baptist Bowl): Fungoe lumber blasts the Inmates. Jones hits a pair of homers, but not much else happens positively for the Inmates.

Details from the Extra Reserve Contest

The Warpigs won with 920 losses, finishing 5 losses ahead of the Killer Bees and 6 ahead of the Zaps. The final few weeks were nip and tuck between the three teams, but the Pigs pulled ahead thanks to the hot streak of Cleveland and the suck streak of the White Sox. The Warpigs pulled this off despite having as one of their teams the Boston Red Sox, who tied with the Cardinals for the best record in baseball.

Extra Reserve Pick Contest

The Indians' win on the last day of the season not only assured them of the top Wild Card spot in the American League, it also clinched the Extra Reserve Pick Contest for the Warpigs. I'll submit a detailed account after today's games are completed.

Mavs 5, Killer Bees 0

It was a brutal series.  The KB's just couldn't get hits.  For the year, the Bees got 21 runs in the ten games against the Mavs.

 

Game One:  Three Mav pitchers combine to throw a six hit shutout.  The KB’s left eight on and hit into two LoMaxes.  Doumit and Moss drove in the runs for the Mavs who could only get four hits but all were for extra bases.  Homer Allowed Bailey wins the Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game award picking up his 16^th win in the process.  3-0 Mavs.  The Mavs 16^th shutout this year.

Game Two:  Vogelsong wins his 16^th.  Brandon Moss is the Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game hitting a double and a homer driving in two of the Mavs four runs.  The Mavs hit into three double plays, had a player caught stealing and two runners thrown out at the plate as they continue to run the bases with reckless abandon.  Mavs 4-2.

Game Three:  Despite leaving twelve on base which is hard given how often we get thrown out running them, the Mavs win 6-2.  Country Breakfast wins the Betty’s Brothel’s Blow of the Game award with a big three run homer in the first that proved to be all the Mavs needed.

Game Four:  The KB’s missed a HR 1-6 fly B with two out in the ninth off Aaron Crow’s card.  A tainted save if there ever was one.  Michael Bourn led off with a home run and the Mavs faithful headed to the beer stand figuring it was time for the KB’s to start hitting finally but it didn’t happen.  The homer was one of three KB hits for the game.  Chico’s Bail Bond’s Player of the Game goes to Homer Allowed Bailey who held the KB’s to three hits in six innings.  Mavs win 2-1.

Game Five:  Another tough offensive game for the KB’s as they manage only two hits.  Chase Headley wins the Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game with two home runs and four RBI’s.

The Wahoos trade Jayson Werth, a 5th round pick, and a 7th round pick to the Killer Bees for Justin Verlander and a 3rd.

May 5 at Hooville:

 

Center fielder Jon Jay had 4 hits at PNC Park as the WAHOOS beat the FUNGOES by the count of 3 to 1.

The Wahoo offense came through in the first inning scoring 2 runners on 3 hits.  The early run support proved sufficient
for Mark Buehrle.  That was all the run support Buehrle required.  Neither team managed to score after the 3rd inning. 

Buehrle was helped out by Erasmo Ramirez who recorded his 2nd save.  Rick Porcello(5-13) took the loss.  He gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings.

In a close game the WAHOOS got by the FUNGOES by the score of 5 to 3.  Jeff Samardzija delivered a fine performance in picking up the win.  He went 6 and
2/3 innings surrendering 5 hits and 3 walks dropping his ERA from 3.90 to 3.44.  Samardzija got help from Wade Davis who earned his 1st save.  Clayton
Kershaw(12-11) was tagged with the loss.  He pitched 6 innings giving up 7 hits and 4 walks.

 

May 7 at Hoostonville:

 

Left fielder Ryan Ludwick smacked a grand slam as the WAHOOS swept the overmatched FUNGOES, 18 to 6.

Wahoo bats were hot in the 4th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits, the 5th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4
hits and the 8th inning scoring 5 runs.  Wahoo batter had 20 hits overall, while Fungoes had 14. 

The winning pitcher was Anibal Sanchez who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Jordan Lyles(7-7) was given the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.  "Basically we suck" lamented the WTF skipper.

 

June 17 at WTF:

 

Clayton Kershaw(13-11) and Mark Buehrle treated the Fungo fans to a fine pitching duel at Pac Bell Park.  The Fungoes eventually emerged as victors over the Wahoos

by the score of 2 to 1.  Kershaw allowed only 3 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts.  Jonathan Papelbon preserved the game for Kershaw, recording his his 25th save.

 

June 18 st WTF:

 

Josh Reddick hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the Wahoos beat the Fungoes by a score of 11 to 4.  Reddick enjoyed a fine day at the plate.  He stroked

a one-base hit in the 2nd inning, tripled bringing in two baserunners in the 4th inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 6th inning.  The victory went to Kevin Correia

who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing no runs. Jordan Lyles(7-8) took the loss.  He was unable to control the Wahoo  offense and allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.

 

July 29 at Wahoolaunchingpad:

 

Delmon Young knocked 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at PNC Park where the FUNGOES beat the WAHOOS by the score of 10 to 4.

Young was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense.  He stroked a base-hit in the 2nd inning, hit a
bases-empty home run in the 4th inning, clubbed a solo home run in the 5th inning, lashed a single in the 7th inning and slapped a one-base hit in the
9th inning.  Offensively, Fungo offense was a juggernaut.  The Fungoes scored in 6 separate innings.  The win was credited to Clayton Kershaw(14-11) who went 6 innings allowing 1 run. Jeff Samardzija absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 9 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. 

 

July 30 at Wahoohitpark:

 

Clint Barmes connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI at PNC Park where the Fungoes beat the Wahoovians 11 to 3.

The Fungoes took the lead off Anibal Sanchez in the first inning scoring one runner. Mike Trout took charge himself, delivering a solo home run.  The Fungoes
offense man-handled the GARTH pitching staff as they scored in 7 of the 9 innings.  Kris Medlen(10-6) went 6 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Sanchez was
given the loss.  He gave up 6 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.

 

August 29 at WTF:

 

Clayton Kershaw dominated striking out 10 batters and Ryan Zimmerman had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Pac Bell Park where the Fungoes beat the Wahoos

by the score of 4 to 1.  Kershaw(15-11) simply was too much for the Wahoo batters.  He allowed only 3 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.  Both teams ended up with

7 hits on the night.  Jonathan Papelbon gained credit for his 26th save.  Jeff Samardzija was the loser.  Despite losing, he struckout 11 batters in 8 innings.

The Wahovian manager was upset after the game.  'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said.  'Maybe they ought to start
calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'

 

August 30 at WTF:

 

The Fungoes win it by a 6 to 2 score at Pac Bell Park.  Nelson Cruz helped send the fans home Juiced er, um, I mean, happy.  He doubled scoring two
baserunners in the 1st inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 3rd inning.  Neither team managed to score after the 3rd
inning.    The victory was credited to Jordan Lyles(8-8) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. Anibal Sanchez was charged with the loss. 

 

August 31 at WTF:

 

Matt Wieters hit 2 doubles at Pac Bell Park as the Fungoes beat the Wahoos in 10 innings 4 to 3.  The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. 

In the 10th, Ryan Zimmerman slapped a one-base hit.  Clint Barmes came to the plate and laid down a sacrifice bunt.  One out later, Matt Carpenter came to bat

and would ground a single through the drawn in infield giving the Fungoes the victory and sending the 25 home-town fans home happy.  The Fungoes managed 8 hits

in their victory.   Jonathan Papelbon(4-3) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 2 and 2/3 innings. Jake Arrieta suffered the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and
1 hit in 2 and 1/3 innings.

5/11/13 Snakes win 6-4. Chapman tried to blow the lead surrendering 3 runs in the 8th but Kimbrel slams the door.

 

5/12/13 Snakes get 13 hits off Burnett(12were singles). A Cabrera homers for DD only run in the 7th off Chapman. Morrow pitched 6 scoreless and Chapman gets the 3 inning save. Snakes win 4-1

 

8/3/13 Drillers take 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 8th. Wright homers to tie it and doubles in winning run in the bottom of the 9th.Catherine wears her David Wight shirt to bed after clicking the mouse for his game tying and winning hits.

 

8/4/13 Peavy bests Burnett 6-3. Morneau homers and Parker  Posey has 2 RBI without benefit of a hit.

Tweeners 2, Killer Bees 2

4 at the Hooverdome to finish our home schedule.  Only 3 left at the Bees Nest and we can mercifully lay this season to rest.  Still a chance to lose 90 games and get a decent draft spot.

9/12 – Bees 8, Tweeners 6.  Bees take an early 4-1 lead, Tweeners go ahead 6-4 on a Rosario grand slam, but then Milone and Hanrahan (L, BS) surrender 4 in the 7th.  Rafael Soriano pitches 5 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.

9/13 – Tweeners 4, Bees 1.  Iwakuma and friends shut down the Bees, Romo logs his 32nd save.  In game #157, Pablo Sandoval blasts his 5th home run of the season.  I guess it's a bit late for him to heat up and lead us to glory.

9/14 – Tweeners 11, Bees 0.  Chris Tillman's card hits the floor after 6 scoreless innings, and the bullpen completes the shutout.  Homers for Rosario and Reynolds and 2 errors by Freddie Freeman lead the Tweeners attack.

9/15 – Bees 5, Tweeners 2.  On Fan Appreciation Day, we designated Yasmani Grandal as the catcher, Victor Martinez as acting manager, and literally pulled names out of a hat to create a lineup and batting order.  The result was decent defense (other than Mark Reynolds at 3B), but the questionable offense began with Jose Tabata the DH leading off.  Ervin Santana had little trouble earning the complete game victory.

Goofs Clinch (Sorta)

The Magic Number for the Goofs was 3, and the Goofs won 4 games today... so why did their Magic Number change to 18? Well, you see, the Magic Number isn't so magical when the teams involved have such a discrepancy in the number of games played. The Goofs have indeed clinched the division over the Tweeners, but mathematically speaking, both the Snakes and Bees have not been eliminated. Anyway, the Goofs celebrated on the field and in the clubhouse, saying for the record, "Are you kidding me? The Sidewinders suck. And the Bees suck harder. We've clinched, baby. Print it. The Goofs are headed for their first playoffs."

Game 1 Buckeyes 11 Goofs 10 - 5 homers in the game. C Hart's 2 run triple in 7th put the Buckeyes in the lead for good.

Game 2 Buckeyes 7 Goofs 4 - C Hart is on all 4 times and declared the Goof nemesis. Reed Johnson's PH 2 run single in 6th is big blow.

Game 3 Goofs 5 Buckeyes 1 - Lewis shuts down Buckeyes and Hunter's grand slam is the difference.

Extra Reserve Pick Contest

I don't know how often you check the standings for our contest, but there's quite a pennant chase going on. The Zaps had a fairly big lead, but have been reeled in by both the Killer Bees and the Warpigs. Through games of last night, the Bees are now in the lead by ONE game over both the Pigs and the Zaps.

The 3 clubs have 7 of their 10 teams in common. It's those other 3 that will determine the winner. The Bees have KC, Cleveland, and the White Sox. The Pigs have the White Sox, Boston, and SD. The Zaps have SD, Cleveland, and Milwaukee.

If it comes down to a tie breaker, the Bees would win over both teams. The Zaps would lose a tie breaker to either team.

The Snakes and Rhinos are tied for 4th place, but they're 12 games back. I don't think there's enough time for them to enter the race.

Here's to picking losers!

April 28:

 

WTF fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.  Clayton Kershaw(12-10) finally bested his Sidewinder opposite, Jake Peavy, by the
score of 2 to 1.  Kershaw pitched well.  He went 7 innings and surrended up 5 hits and 1 walk.  VINCE had a chance in the 9th but they came
up short.  Jonathan Papelbon was credited with his 22nd save.  Peavy suffered the loss.  When questioned about the loss, VINCE's manager said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there tonight.  Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this time.  Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the smiles.'

 

April 29:

 

Derek Holland, making his first start of the season, didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning at Pac Bell Park where the Fungoes beat the Snakes, 1 to 0.

Holland was very good in the win.  He gave up just 2 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings reducing his ERA from 3.73 to 3.42.  The left-handed Holland
lost his no-hit bid when Derek Jeter singled with two outs in the 6th inning.  The Snakes went down without a fight in the 9th.  Jonathan Papelbon earned the save, his 23rd. 

Chris Sale was given the loss.  He surrendered just 3 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings. 

 

April 30:

 

Jonathan Lucroy had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Snakes defeated the Fungoes by the score of 5 to 2 at Pac Bell Park. Johnny Cueto pitched well for the Sidewinders in their victory. 

He went 7 innings surrendering 4 hits and 1 walk lowering his ERA from 5.23 to 4.55.  After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.   Craig Kimbrel was credited with his

2nd save.  Brad Lincoln was given the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 13 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

 

July 22:

 

Carlos Beltran slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Sidewinders defeated the Fungoes by the score of 9 to 3 at Pac Bell Park. The game started off with the Snakes taking the lead

in the first plating one baserunner on 2 base hits.  The Snakes had 11 hits overall, while the Fungoes had 8.  Johnny Cueto allowed 3 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Craig Kimbrel gained credit for his 3rd save.  The loss was charged to Kris Medlen.  For VINCE the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been struggling in
their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record.  With the loss, the Fungoes have a record of 6-4 lately, 64-68 overall.

 

July 23:

 

The FUNGOES nipped the SIDEWINDERS 8 to 7 at Pac Bell Park in a hard fought contest.  The Fungoes jumped in front in the 6th inning scoring a single run utilizing
3 base hits.  VINCE had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  Glen Perkins allowed 1 run in 2 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Jonathan Papelbon preserved the game for Perkins, recording his his 24th save.  Tim Collins was hit with the loss in relief.  He pitched 1
and 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and no walks.

Warpigs 4, Buckeyes 1

The bones were a-rollin' at the Pigsty, but it was a quiet day for the Buckeye bats.

7/20 - @ Buckeyeville - Warpigs win 5-3. Steven Strasburg (12-6) made up for his last start by holding down the Buckeyes and getting the Warpigs to 100 wins. Yoenis Cespedes homered and tripled. Edwin Encarnacion also homered for the Pigs. Fernando Rodney got his 45th save.

7/21 - @ Buckeyeville - Warpigs win 13-5. The Pigs hit 5 homers, 3 of them coming from the cleanup spot in the lineup by 3 different players (Ruggiano, Jaso, Prado). Encarnacion and Yadier Molina also homered. Cliff Lee (14-9) went 8 for victory.

8/18 - @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 14-3. The Pigs (15 hits) kept hitting and the Buckeyes (2 errors) kept playing sloppy defense. Prince Fielder hit a 3-run homer in the 1st, and Cespedes homered twice. Jordan Zimmermann (15-7) went 5 innings and Darren Oliver threw 4 innings for his 2nd save of the year.

8/19 - @ The BallPork - Buckeyes win 4-1 in 10 innings. Rickie Weeks had a 3-run pinch hit homer off of Rodney to get the Buckeyes back in the win column. Oliver (1-3) took the loss. Jeff Karstens pitched well for the Buckeyes. The Warpigs were held to 6 hits - all singles.

8/20 - @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 5-1. Cliff Lee (15-9) tossed a complete game, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 11. Encarnacion hit another homer for the Pigs.

The 5 starting pitchers for the Warpigs walked exactly 2 batters in the 5 games, and those were both by Zimmermann in game 3.

Mavs 7, Wahoos 3

Game One :  The Mavs hang on to win one of what must be many slugfests at the Wahoos 10-8.  The Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game goes to Billy Butler who hit two triples and got to third on a three base error by Josh Reddick.  It’s the most Butler has run since seventh grade PE.  Country Breakfast indeed.

Game Two:  The Wahoos bounce back for the split as the Mavs leave the bases loaded in the 9^th and lose 4-3.  Josh Reddick wins the Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game award going 2-3 with a homer and two RBI’s

Game Three:  A Kyle Seager homer ended Bailey’s shutout.  Nonetheless Homer Allowed Bailey wins the Pearl Beer Pitcher of the Game award.  Mavs win going away 7-1 as Eovaldi lost the plate and walked in a run and the roof caved in when five runs scored in the sixth.

Game Four:  The Mavs leave seven on base but the Wahoos hit into four DP’s.  It is hard to say who feels more cheated as the Mavs win 7-6.  Vogelsong gets the Elvira’s Escort Service Cheap Win of the Game as he picks up a victory despite allowing 6 earned runs. 

Game Five:  In a match up of slant rhymes Bailey took on Buehrle.  Alas as so often happens in this park it was a slugfest.  The Mavs got Morales with as the tying run with two out in the ninth.  The Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game goes to Chris Davis who homered twice.  The Betty’s Brothel Blow of the Game came from Brandon Moss who pinch hit a three run in the seventh to put the Mavs ahead.  10-8 Mavs.

Game Six:  Just plain a blow out.  16-2 Mavs.  Harper is the Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game going 4-6 with two home runs.  It could have been worse.  The Mavs left 10 on.

Game Seven:  in a game that could only happen in this park, Gallardo gives up 7 in the first and four home runs total and hangs on for the win.  15-9.  Nine home runs between the two teams.  But Doumit is the Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game going 5-5 driving in five runs and finishing a triple short of the cycle.

Game Eight:  The Wahoos pounded the Mavs bullpen and blew a close game open to win going away 9-4.  Gose hits a homer and goes 3 for 6 to win the Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game in a close one over Doumit who went 4-4 and is now 9 for his last nine official plate appearances.

Game Nine:  The Mavs lose a heartbreaker as Tom Wilhelmsen’s error results in a blown save.  Wahoos win 4-2.  Chris Carter wins the Betty’s Brothel Blow of the Game with a three run straight out homer on 3-6 as a pinch hitter in the ninth.

Game Ten:  Samardjiza strikes out 14 but takes the loss as the Mavs bullpen finally comes through.  Elvis is the Chico’s Bail Bonds Player of the Game going 3 for 4 and turning a key double play.

The Zaps got hosed big-time vs the Inmates via CM. Not much went right, and the Inmates almost always took advantage…

Inmates 4 – Zaps 0 (Baptist Bowl): Gavin Floyd (!) tosses a 4-hitter, Jones, Beltre and Cargo tater, and Miggy lives in the “2” column.

Inmates 5 – Zaps 4 (Baptist Bowl): A Gomes error in the bottom of the 9^th  with the bases loaded and two outs allows in the walk-off run. Miggy, Martin and Hill homer for the Zaps in a wasted effort.

Inmates 4 – Zaps 1 (ZapDome): Beachy Ks 9 in five innings. Hill homers again to avoid the shutout.

Inmates 2 – Zaps 1 (10 innings) (ZapDome): A great pitching duel between Billingsley and Scherzer. A 2-base error by Joyce in the 10^th allows the winning run to score in the second game thrown away by the Zaps.  A league investigation is ongoing into allegations of the Zaps emulating the 1919 Black Sox.

Inmates 4 – Zaps 3 (ZapDome): A Cargo 2-run single is the margin of victory. Pierzynski and Drew homer.

Zaps 6 – Inmates 0 (Baptist Bowl): The Zaps scored three in the 1^st, and Johnson and League combined on a 6-hitter. Zap baserunners stole four bases.

Zaps 4 – Inmates 1 (Baptist Bowl): LDMF drought continues as Niese tosses a CG 3-hitter.

Inmates 8 – Zaps 6 (Baptist Bowl): Teixeira, Rios and Jones all homered in the second, and Jones hit a two-run tater in the 9^th for the walk-off win. Miggy homers again for the Zaps.

Inmates 7 – Zaps 6 (ZapDome): Zaps can’t overcome three Teixeira homers. Jones, Espinosa and Marte also homer for a total of six solo shots and one 2-run blast (Jones). Bautista and Joyce also got into the barrage-fest.

Inmates 9 – Zaps 5 (ZapDome): An 8-run Inmate 8^th innings put the game away. To compound the ugliness, Zap pitchers hit Jones and Cargo back-to-back, Cargo with the bases loaded.

Sidewinders 2, Tweeners 1

Dice and cards in The Hooverdome.  Snakes' equipment manager forgot to bring dice, and the 20 sider we leant them will be fined and suspended for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.  Tweeners and Sidewinders predictably finish the season at 7-7 and out of the playoff picture.
9/9 – Stanley 5, Logan Co. 0.  Matt Moore sprinkled 11 Ks amid 7 hits and 6 walks to record the shutout.  Every Tweener that went to bat struck out at least once.  Hisashi Iwakuma fanned 10 while taking one for the team in the CG loss.
9/10 – Stanley 6, Logan Co. 3.  Marco Scutaro conspired with the borrowed 20-sider to sabotage his mates.  2 errors for Scutaro, and all of the Snakes' 11 hits came on 2B(X) chances (or so it seemed).  Homers for Maybin and LaRoche, but only one other hit for the Tweeners.  Brandon Morrow the winner, Felix falls to 12-17.
9/11 – Logan Co. 3, Stanley 1.  Madison Bumgarner (18-11) outpitches Jake Peavy.  3 doubles in 3 trips for Mark Reynolds.  Sergio Romo records his 31st save.

4/27 - @ Buckeyeville - Warpigs win 7-1. Cliff Lee (13-9) dominates the Buckeyes, and David Freese hits a 3-run homer off of Lucas Harrell to knot the series at a game apiece.

6/6 - @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 11-5. Harrell on the mound again for the Buckeyes, and he gives up 10 runs in the first 3 innings. Adam Wainwright (19-3) gets the win. Prince Fielder and Yadier Molina homer for the Pigs.

6/7 - @ The BallPork - Buckeyes win 7-6. J.J. Putz and Darren Oliver both give up homers in relief, blowing an early lead.

7/19 - @ Buckeyeville - Warpigs win 9-5. The Warpigs hit 4 homers and had 19 hits. Wainwright (20-3) got his 20th win despite his bullpen again giving up multiple long balls. The hitting star was Brandon Crawford, who doubled and homered.

The series loss drops the Buckeyes into a tie with the Zaps for 2nd in the MFD, 4 games in back of the Mavs. The Warpigs are now 99-49.

Zaps 3, Rhinos 2

Rhinos go 2-3 vs the Zaps.

Zack Greinke finally bested his Rhino counterpart C.C. Sabathia.

 

The Rhinos were shutout and unable to reciprocate when the Zaps went ahead in the 5th inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits both of which homers.  The Zaps had only 5 hits for the afternoon but made them count. 

 

4/2  Rhinos 7 Zaps 0

 

Tim Hudson with support from the bullpen shut down the Zaps. Hudson gave a fine effort for the Rhinos, surrendering 5 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.  The Rhinos ended up with 10 hits for the game while the Zaps had 5. Josh Johnson took the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings.

 

4/3  Zaps 10 Rhinos 5

In a one-sided affair as the Zaps scored 5 runs in the decisive 6th inning with the help of 5 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Jose Bautista who doubled with two outs to bring home the last 2 runs of the inning.

 

6/25  Rhinos 2 Zaps 1

The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings.  Finally, the Rhinos pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  Mastroianni drew a walk.  After an out was recorded, Avila came up and he drew another walk.  Cano struck out , Ryan Braun was up next and he singled. Votto stepped into the box and slapped a base-hit resulting in a an extra inning win for the Rhinos.

 

6/26  Zaps 6 Rhinos 4

Zack Greinke delivered a fine performance going 7 innings and allowing 9 hits and 3 walks.

Nads 3, Wahoos 2

Game 1
Samardzija pitches well enough to win, 6-5. Kyle Seager hit 2 homers including the game winner in the sixth. Nate Jones struck out 6 in 2.2 innings of relief for the save.

Game 2
Standard 14-10 game as the Nads hang on to win in the 9th. 17 of 18 starting players in the game had hits. Adrian Gonzalez had 6 RBIs. Kyle Seager hit another homer.

Game 3
Nads win, 14-10. Nads gathered 25 hits. All the Nads had at least 2 hits.

Game 4
After taking it in the ass last game, starting pitcher Nate Eovaldi pitched much better and led the Wahoos to a 6-5 win. Ianetta and Werth each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

Game 5
Marcum and Blevins dominated the Wahoos, 3-2. Nothing else special.

Goofs overcame some computer glitches on the Buckeye PC to knock out some games.

Game 3 - Goofs 7 Zaps 5 - HR's from Choo, Ike, and Josh power Goofs to win.

Game 4 - Zaps 3 Goofs 0 - Niese throws CG 4 hitter.

Game 5 - Goofs 5 Zaps 0 - Yu, Atchison and Tazawa combine for 6 hitter. Yu has 11 K's

Game 1 Tweeners 4 Goofs 3 - Iwakuma CG 5 hitter. Rasario key 2 run homer.

Game 2 Goofs 5 Tweeners 3 - Guzman and Frandsen each drive in a pair.

Game 3 Tweeners 6 Goofs 1 - King Felix with a CG 6 hitter.

DVs 1, Fungoes 1

DVs and Fungoes played their last two at the DV park and split the series.

Fungoes win game 1, 4-2 behind a nice pitching performance by Lyles.

DVs win game 2, 2-1 as they beat their 2014 “ace to be” Porcello.

Inmates 4, Tweeners 2

Via netplay – the first three at the Baptist Bowl, the last three at the HooverDome.

 

TWEENERS 5 – INMATES 1: Tweeners get to Floyd hard and fast, scoring three in the first. Only a Teixeira homer kept the LDMF from being shutout.

 

INMATES 4 – TWEENERS 3 (10 Innings): A see-saw battle. Jones hits walk-off tater with two outs in the bottom of the 10^th.

 

INMATES 6 – TWEENERS 2: Santana and five relievers hang on for the win. A Beltre 3-run shot opens things up in the 6^th.

 

Inmates 4 – Tweeners 3: Another see-saw game, given to the Inmates in the 8^th. Cargo singles and moves to second on an error. One out later Teixeira walks and steals 2^nd (!) with the throw going into center. Forsyth followed with a run-scoring single.

 

Tweeners 4 – Inmates 3: Scrotumo burns the Inmates with a 2-run single in the last of the 9^th with two outs.

 

Inmates 3 – Tweeners 2: Inmates get solo homers by Pierzynski, Rios, and Espinosa (1-2 chance), but try to give the game away with errors by Drew and Cargo. Boggs holds on for the save.
