DVS 3-2 at NADS

6/13-it was the DiamondVision 4, the Nads 2 Stephen Strasburg(2-1) pitched a 

solid game.  He went 7 innings and gave up 3 hits and 4 walks.

DVs finished with 10 hits while the NADS ended up with 4. 

Game 2- Tulsa DiamondVision beat the Nads by the count of 6 to 4. The DVs 

started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the

first when they scored 5 runs on 3 hits.  That early run support was enough

for Kyle Hendricks(2-1) and Tulsa. 

Game 3 -DVs won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs

utilizing 3 base hits.  Brian McCann led off and started the attack as he

doubled.  Ozzie Albies stepped into the batter's box and he tripled plating a

run.  Moreland then lined a single scoring the final run of the inning.

Tulsa had 11 hits for the night while Chicago had 8. 

Game 4- Second baseman Brian Dozier rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI 

as the Nads beat the DiamondVision in 12 innings 6 to 5.

Game 5 -Jhoulys Chacin had an impressive outing as the Nads bested the 

DiamondVision 1 to 0 at The Ball Sack. Tulsa surrendered what proved to be

the only run of the contest when Chicago scored in the bottom of the 7th inning. 

Chicago had 7 hits overall, while Tulsa had 2.

Nads 3, Goofs 2

GOOFS 2-3 at NADS

6/9 - The Chicago Nads nipped the Disney SuperGoofs 5 to 4 at The Ball Sack in a

hard fought contest. Marcus Stroman(2-3) was solid in the win.  He surrendered

only 5 hits and no walks in 7 innings.  Stroman struckout 8. Disney threatened in

the 9th but came up short. 

6/10 - The Chicago Nads edged the Disney SuperGoofs in 10 innings at The Ball

 Sack by the score of 3 to 2. Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine

 innings.  Chicago came out the victor in the 10th inning.

6/11 The Disney SuperGoofs defeated the Chicago Nads by a score of 4 to 1 at The

Ball Sack. Kendall Graveman(1-0) earned his pay with a solid performance for

Disney.  He went 7 innings and surrended up 4 hits and 2 walks.

8/16 - Nads offense put up 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 5th inning and got

by the Disney SuperGoofs by the score of 9 to 6.

8/17 - Eduardo Rodriguez dominated striking out 11 Chicago batters at The Ball Sack

as the Disney SuperGoofs staged a comeback win over the Chicago Nads by the

count of 7 to 5

May 3 - Buckeyes 5 Goofs 0 - Gio and 2 relievers combine for a 1 hitter

May 4 - Buckeyes 15 Goofs 3 - Scooter Gennett drives in 5 with 2 homers. Freddy Galvis of all people goes 4 for 4.

June 13 - Buckeyes 5 Goofs 1 - Margot's 3 run homer is the main offense. Bridwell and 2 relievers combine on a 3 hitter

June 14 - Buckeyes 4 Goofs 0 - Gio and 2 relievers shut out Goofs again

June 15 - Buckeyes 7 Goofs 1 - Buckeyes get 7 in the first and that holds up.

DVs 2, Warpigs 1

Game 1 - DVs win 10-9 in 12 innings. The DVs hit 6 FHRs, two by Granderson, who rolled in the 3-column every at bat of every game (ISYN). All six DV FHRs were 1-13 chances. He rolled single digit numbers on all six rolls. #NotBitter.

Game 2 - DVs win 5-1 in 8 1/2 innings. The DVs hit 3 more Fhomers. A bit of a downward trend for the home team, but it made little difference. How do you get 2-hit and STILL have 7 caught stealings in the game?!? All were 1-18 or better. #NotDespondent

Game 3 - Warpigs win 3-1. Stanton Fhomered in the 1st, then the whole DV team retired to the beach on the Tulsa coast, allowing the game to be finished by vendors and ushers, who still almost pulled off the sweep. The Pigs tied it in the 7th and scored 2 more in the 9th off of Viagra Fan of the Game Dick Short, who just didn't have enough to pull it off. The Pigs hit into 11 DPs in this game alone - a new record for a 9-inning game. #NotDrunk #Yet

DVs 2, Sidewinders 2

DVs continue to play well above their station in life by splitting 2 at home and 2 at the Snakepit. 3 of the 4 games were extra inning affairs, with the DiamondVision winning 2 of them against the vaunted Sidewinder bullpen.

Sending Files

It has been brought to my attention that not everybody sends game files and box scores the same way. And hey, if what you do works, don't change it. But if you need help, here's how I do it...

1. After finishing your series, go ahead a close the game. Sending files is better and easier if you DON'T go thru the game.
2. The first thing I do is make a zipped folder on the desktop. To make a zipped folder, right click on the desktop and select New/Compressed (zipped) Folder. It may be different on your computer. Call your folder something like Bees at Pigs.
3. Then I open Windows Explorer, and click on Local Disk (C:), and double click on CDROMBB. Make sure you can still see your zipped folder on the desktop off to the side.

4. To get to the game files, double click on the Export folder. The items in there may be listed alphabetically, but it works better if they're listed in the order of when each file was created, so click once on Date Modified. (If doing so put older files at the top, click again so the most recent ones are up there.)
5. Click on the last one listed, and while holding the Shift key, click again on the first one listed from your series (they're time-stamped). That should highlight every game file from your series. Drag those into your zipped folder. I always hold the Ctrl button while dragging to ensure I am saving a copy for me. I don't even know if that is really necessary, but I do it out of habit.
6. If you want to send box scores (and maybe PACs), you'll find those in the Print folder (2018NA). They'll also be in the HTML folder if you have set up that *option in the game itself. Drag those into the zipped folder the same way.
7. Attach the zipped folder to an email and send it.

*The option to save files as HTMLs is in the game. With the game open, click Options/Miscellaneous and then click the 4th box where it says Also Save Print Files as HTML. Do it once, and you're good.

DVs 3, Sidewinders 0

DVs sweep 3 game series from the Snakes at his park.

Game 1- Teheran lowers his ERA all the way down to 7.32 by taking a shutout into the 9^th in a game the DVs win 10-2.

Game 2 – DVs win 7-5 as Snakes threaten in the late innings but somehow the shaky DV bullpen lucks through with a win

Game 3 – DVs prevail 2-1 in 11 innings after the Sidewinders tie it in the 9^th, but Mitch Moreland (hitting all of .174) homers in the 11^th and the DVs hold on.

DV management is considering shuttering the season from here since this will basically be the team’s highlight reel.

Warpigs 5, Tweeners 0

The Pigs were the Nad-substitute today, and the Tweeners weren't happy about it. Apparently he had a taste for Nads.

June 18 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 4-3. Adrian Beltre hit a 1st inning, 2-run homer off of MadBum to give the Pigs the early advantage. The Tweeners fought back, however, taking the lead on 2 unearned runs in the 7th after Luis Severino booted one. But Aaron Judge tied it in the bottom half of the 7th with his 21st home run. Then in the 8th, after J.T. Realmuto doubled, Christian Yelich singled him in with 2 outs for the eventual winning run. Raisel Iglesias (4-0) pitched the 8th inning for the win, but it was an exciting one. Trey Mancini led off with a triple. After an intentional walk and an unintentional walk loaded the bases with no outs, Iglesias got Nolan Arenado to ground into a 5-2-3 DP. After yet another intentional walk, Kevin Millar struck out to end the inning for the frustrated Tweeners. Sean Doolittle struck out three in the 9th for his 4th save. MadBum took the loss, and Jonathan Schoop homered for the Tweeners.

June 19 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 6-0. Jake Odorizzi (5-1) went 7.1 innings for the shutout win. Ryan Buchter and Pedro Strop finished up for him, with Strop getting his 1st save of the year. It was a fairly cheap save. He entered in the 8th with 2 men on and the Pigs leading 4-0. He struck out Justin Smoak to end the inning. After D.J. Lemahieu opened it up with a 2-run double in the bottom half of the inning, Strop cruised thru the 9th for the save. Realmuto reached base 4 times and scored 3 runs.

August 1 @ The Hoover Dome - Warpigs win 11-2. This one was over early. Judge, Realmuto, Joe Mauer, and Tommy Pham all homered for the Pigs, and Adam Wainwright (3-1) threw a complete game. Gerardo Parra and Scott Schebler homered for the home team. Ivan Nova took the loss.

August 2 @ The Hoover Dome - Warpigs win 12-8. Luis Severino started for the Warpigs, but gave up 4 runs without getting a single out. The Pigpen isn't really set up to pitch 9 innings, but they were equal to the task. The stars of the game, though, were on offense. Corey Seager led the comeback, going 4-5 with a homer, a double, and 4 RBI. Tommy Pham and Adrian Beltre each had 3 hits. In addition to Seager's long ball, Pham, Judge, and Roberto Perez went yard. For the Tweeners, Trey Mancini went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a homer. Raisel Iglesias (5-0) earned the win.

August 3 @ The Hoover Dome - Warpigs win 11-4. The Pigs completed the sweep, hammering Blake Snell and company for four more homers by Judge, Pham, Beltre, and Perez - all repeat offenders. Designated hitter Adam Wainwright (yep) went 2-3 with a triple. Jacob deGrom (5-1) was the happy recipient of the barrage. Trey Mancini, who was on fire the whole series, hit 2 more homers for the Tweeners. All four Tweener runs in this game were solo homers.

May 3 at The Grove in Dallas:

FFTs got to Ian Kennedy early and built a 3-0 lead.  Fungoes closed the gap to 3-2 with single runs in the 5th and 7th.  That's as

close as the Fungoes would get in this one as the FFTs win it 5-3.  Drew Pomeranz collects the win while Jake McGee picks up

the save.  Kennedy absorbs the loss for the Fungi.  Dejong went deep for the FFTs.  Fungoes were held (and this will become a trend) to 4 hits.

May 4 at The Grove in Dallas:  

Fungoes break out to a 2-0 lead in this one when Mike Trout blasts a 2-run HR in the first inning.  Lance McCullers can't hold that early lead 

however as the FFTs come back to win it 3-2.  McCullers takes the loss while Samardzija gets the win for the FFT bunch.  Jake McGee collects another save.  

Mark Reynolds homers for the home team.  Fungoes pick up 4 hits on the afternoon.

June 13 at WTF:

Kershaw weaves some magic allowing only a leadoff single to Chris Taylor.  Fungoes score a solitary run in the 3rd when Sal Perez comes home 

on a sac fly.  Lindor gets the game winning RBI.  Drew Pomeranz is tagged with the hard luck loss while Kershaw, Leone and Robertson 

nail down the 1-hit shutout.  Robertson picks up the save for the Fungoes while Kershaw earns his first win.  Oh, and the Fungoes, yep 4 hits again.

June 14 at WTF:

This one is tied up at 2 after 9 innings.  Samardzija vs Straily turnes into Shreve vs Leone.  Shreve picks up the win in the 11th while Leone 

takes the loss.  Neris picks up the save.  The winning run scored when Yasiel Puig went "yard" in the top half of the 11th inning.  Fungoes finally 

surpass 4 hits in a game by smashing a grand total of 5!

June 15 at WTF:

All FFTs and Yu Darvish as he throws a complete game (you guessed it) 4-hit shutout!  Kennedy takes the loss for the Fungoes.  Harrison and 

Frazier both homer for the FFTs.  A lot of Fungoes didn't do very much in this one!

August 12 at The Grove in Dallas:

Fungoes manage 5 hits in this one but lose 6-5.  Yu Darvish goes 8 innings and collects the win.  Straily gets the loss.  Goody gets the save (goody goody).  Home runs 

for Daniel Murphy and Mark Reynolds.

August 13 at The Grove in Dallas:

Kershaw pitching for the Fungoes vs Mike Leake.  Kershaw allows 2 hits and 2 runs while the Fungoes collect 8 hits and win it 4-2.  Kershaw gets the win 

while Leake takes the loss.  David Robertson picks up the save.  Lindor homers for the Fungoes while Harrison takes Kershaw deep for the FFTs.

August 14 at The Grove in Dallas:

Fungoes win this one 7-3.  German Marquez gets the win for the Fungoes while Lance Lynn takes the loss.  Robertson picks up a 5 out save for the Fungi.  

Trout Homers for the Fungoes while Mark Reynolds goes deep again for the FFTs.

September 10 at WTF:

Straily gets banged around by the FFTs and earns the loss.  FFTs win it 8-2.  Mike Leake goes the distance allowing 12 hits and picking up the win.  Dejong 

goes deep for the FFTs.

September 11 at WTF:

Kershaw on the mound for the Fungoes equals a win for the good guys as the Fungoes win this one 6-1.  Will Harris gets the save while Lance Lynn takes 

the loss.  Peraza and Hosmer both homer.  Kershaw picked up 11 Ks and allowed 5 hits over 7 innings.

Fungoes are now 16-19.  Kershaw came into the series with the FFTs at 0-2 on the season with a 7.62 ERA.  He corrected that a bit going 3-0 vs the FFTs with a 1.29 ERA.  Overall the Fungoes hit .197 in the 10 games.

Warpigs 6, Drillers 4

Via Netplay - but with several glitches. For the most part, the game doesn't like it when you switch hosts. Close and re-open the game when you switch hosts, I guess. That seemed to work.

April 28 @ The BallPork - Drillers win 6-2. Michael Fulmer threw 6 shutout innings, and both Buster Posey and Josh Donaldson homered. The Pigs avoided the shutout with an 8th-inning home run from Aaron Judge. Danny Duffy (2-3) was mashed around a bit in the loss.

April 29 @ The BallPork - Drillers win 6-1. Everything is rosy in DrillerLand. Posey homered again. So did Jose Abreu. Hell, Michael Conforto homered twice. All while Lucas Giolito was taking his turn to shutout the Warpigs' pitiful offense. This time the Pigs needed a 9th inning, 2-out solo shot by Corey Seager to get on the board. Rich Hill (1-3) took the loss.

Through two games, the Driller SPs had given up zero runs on 8 hits in 13 innings.

June 20 @ Driller Park - Warpigs win 5-4 in 10 innings. For awhile there, it appeared the day's trend was going to be All Drillers, All the Time... but thanks to some late inning heroics, the trend has become Home Teams Suck. Trailing 4-1 in the 7th, the Warpigs' Tommy Pham hit a 2-out, 2-run homer to close the gap to 1. In the top of the 9th, after the first two Pigs made outs, the next four Pigs went: walk, HBP, walk, walk. The last one, to DJ Lemahieu, forced in the tying run. Another 2-out rally in the top of the 10th gave the Pigs the lead. Corey Seager doubled home Aaron Judge, who had walked to open the inning. Sean Doolittle (1-0) got the win in relief. Steve Cishek nailed down the final out for his 8th save.

June 21 @ Driller Park - Warpigs win 8-5. The Pigs trailed 4-3 in the 6th when they exploded for a 5-spot capped off by a 3-run homer by Tommy Pham. Adrian Beltre and David Freese also homered for the Pigs. Josh Donaldson and Lonnie Chisenhall homered for the Drillers. Raisel Iglesias (2-0) got the win in relief while Adam Warren notched his 3rd save.

June 22 @ Driller Park - Warpigs win 6-4. Five games, five road wins. Jake Lamb homered in the 6th inning, turning a 4-3 lead into a 6-3 lead. Luis Severino (4-2) wasn't great, but pitched just well enough over 8.2 innings to win. Doolittle got the final out for his 3rd save.

July 13 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 3-2. It was the first home win of the series for either team, and also the first blown save by a Warpig reliever in their first 36 games. Luis Severino was cruising along with a shutout into the 9th inning, but a leadoff walk and a 1-out triple by Eric Thames sent him to the showers. Warren came on to try and strand the game-tying run at third. He did his job, striking out Abreu, bringing up CarGo as the last hope. Sean Doolittle was a little weary, but was called in for the final out. He couldn't get it. Pinch hitter Howie Kendrick blooped a single to tie the game. The Drillers went on to load the bases, but Carl Edwards struck out Robinson Cano to keep the game tied going to the bottom of the 9th. In their half, the Pigs rallied after two were out. Joe Mauer doubled, and Pirela singled him to 3rd. Corey Seager was intentionally walked to bring up J.T. Realmuto in the clutch. Ryan Tepera was tapped to get him out, but Jon Jay grabbed a bat instead and grounded a single up the middle to end the game in dramatic fashion. Edwards (2-0) was the winner as the Pigs take their fourth in a row.

July 14 @ The BallPork - Drillers win 4-3. The Drillbits put an end to the 4-game losing streak with a wild 9th inning. Tied 1-1 into the final frame, the visiting Drillers scored 3 times, the final 2 on a triple by Kendrick. Corey Seager hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the inning, but it wasn't enough. Lucas Giolito got the win, Corey Knebel the save, and Adam Warren (2-2) took the loss.

July 15 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 4-3 in 11 innings. In my favorite game of the series, there were a combined 26 runners left on base. Aaron Judge homered in the 4th, and Christian Yelich hit one in the 7th, but when the Drillers scored 2 in the 8th, the game was tied at 3. In the top of the 10th, Charlie Blackmon tripled with 1 out. Raisel Iglesias was brought on to face Josh Donaldson, who lifted a flyball to right. With Blackmon tagging at 3rd, Judge came up firing and nailed him at the plate. Judge was denied his chance to finish his Hero's Journey in the bottom of the inning because he was intentionally walked. In fact, the bottom of the 10th went like this for the Pigs: double, IBB, sac, IBB, gbDP. Grrr. But in the bottom of the 11th, the Pigs loaded the bases again, and this time the Driller Dude had to pitch to Judge. It wasn't intentional, but Judge walked again to give the Pigs the win. Iglesias (3-0) was the winner.

September 3 @ Driller Park - Drillers win 4-3. In my least favorite game of the series, Asdrubal Cabrera's walk off BP HR off of Doolittle's card sent the home folks away happy.

September 4 @ Driller Park - Warpigs win 3-0. Lemme tell ya, the Driller lineup is scary good. And the right side of Danny Duffy's card is scary bad. But somehow, Duffy managed to twirl some magic for 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The bullpen finished up the Duffy (3-3) shutout, with Cishek earning his 9th save. Corey Seager and Roberto Perez both homered in the 2nd inning for the only runs of the game.

Warpigs 4, Tweeners 1

Game 1 (BallPork) - Warpigs win 9-5. Aaron Judge had 2 homers and 4 RBI to lead the Pigs. Jake Odorizzi (4-1) pitched just well enough over 8 innings to get the win.

Game 2 (BallPork) - Warpigs win 3-1. Tommy Pham got a bases loaded hit in the 2nd to score 2 runs. Then Christian Yelich plated another run with a 2-out single in the same inning. It was all the runs the Pigs would get or need, as Jacob deGrom (3-1) went 7 innings for the win. Raisel Iglesias pitched the 9th for his 2nd save.

Game 3 (BallPork) - Tweeners win 5-3. Ivan Nova (7 innings) and Yusmeiro Petit (2 innings) held the Pigs to 6 hits in the getaway win. Adam Wainwright (1-1) provided the batting practice for the Tweeners. Aaron Judge homered for the home team.

Game 4 (Hoover Dome) - Warpigs win 12-7. The Warpigs led 3-2 into the 6th when they exploded for an 8-run inning. Jose Pirela and Corey Seager both went 2-2 in the big inning, and Aaron Judge unloaded the bases with a Grand Slam. For the game, the Pigs had 20 hits, including 6 doubles, a triple, and 5 homers. Seager and Judge both homered twice. Adam Wainwright (2-1) was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion.

Game 5 (Hoover Dome) - Warpigs win 6-3. A surprising trio of Pigs led the offense, with Jake Lamb, Jose Pirela, and Christian Yelich all homering. Jacob deGrom (4-1) took a 1-hitter into the 9th before surrendering a single and homer and then giving way to Steve Cishek, who got the last 3 outs for his 7th save.

Game 1 - Warpigs win 3-0. Jacob deGrom (2-1) scattered 3 hits over 8 innings for the shutout win. Raisel Iglesias pitched the 9th inning for his first save. Jake Lamb homered for the Pigs.

Game 2 - FFTs win 3-2. Yu Darvish struck out 11 in 6.2 shutout innings. Yadier Molina hit a 2-run homer for the FFTs. Aaron Judge homered for the Warpigs.

Game 3 - FFTs win 6-1. A close game was broken open by a 5-run 7th inning for the FFTs which included TWO errors by D.J. Lemahieu resulting in 3 unearned runs. Molina (again) and Mark Reynolds went deep for the FFTs. J.T. Realmuto homered for the only Pig run. Mike Leake went 7 innings for the win.

Inmates 4, Killer Bees 1

Via Netplay:

Bees 6 – Inmates 5 (Baptist Bowl): A close game that shouldn’t have been this close, as the Bees missed three 1-14 BP homer rolls. Still, the Insect Horde collected three taters off of J. Gray in his first start of the year as Turner, Zimmerman and Sano all went yard. The most bizarre occurrence of the game was in the bottom of the 9^th with two outs, when HAL froze things up and prevented the game from continuing. A restart, however, allowed Albers to grab the save.

Inmates 2 – Bees 0 (Baptist Bowl): A total offensive desert as Clevinger and the Inmate bullpen shut out the visitors from the Hive. A close game with no excitement (except the Inmates won!).

Inmates 4 – Bees 3 (The Hive): A three-run homer by Inciarte off of Verlander’s card held up as the winning hit as the Beakless Chicken Gang’s bullpen once again held the Bees at bay after they’d had their way with starter Davies. Chad Green struck out the side in the 9^th for the save.

Inmates 4 – Bees 0 (The Hive): See above (“A total offensive desert as Clevinger and the Inmate bullpen shut out the visitors from the Hive “). Lots of base-running in this one as the Inmates stole four bases and the Bees three. A Santana + hit through the pulled-in infield in the 4^th inning pretty much iced the game.

Inmates 6 – Bees 4 (The Hive): The Bees scored all of their runs in the 3^rd off of J. Gray (including a three-run tater by Zimmerman), then put the bats away. The Inmates clawed back to take the lead in the 6^th; Green once again struck out the side in the 9^th for the save.

First Demerits of the Year

...go to the Bees and Wahoos. Let the whining begin.

Warpigs 4, SuperGoofs 1

To celebrate Opening Day, the Pigs and Goofs met up for 5 games. The Goofs haven't uploaded (or even bought) the game yet, so we resorted to TeamViewer. So with the Cubs/Marlins and Mets/Cardinals providing the backdrop...

Game 1 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 5-3. The first time thru the lineup, FIVE Goofs had HR opportunities. Two hit it out and another doubled. The Goofs led 3-0 early, but the Pigs fought back, scoring 2 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings. Joe Mauer singled and tripled, driving in 3 to lead the Pigs. Rich Hill (1-1) got the win, and Adam Warren got his 2nd save.

Game 2 @ The BallPork - Goofs win 3-1. Masahiro Tanaka threw a complete game 5-hitter for the win. Odubel Herrera went 3-5 with a triple and 3 runs batted in for the Goofs. Jacob deGrom struck out 12 for the Pigs.

Game 3 @ The Magic Kingdom - Warpigs win 4-3 in 15 innings. Sean Newcomb shut out the Pigs for 5.1 innings, but the Goof pen gave up a 3-run 8th inning to extend the game. J.T. Realmuto homered to lead off the top of the 15th for the winning run. Carl Edwards (1-0) was the winner, and Steve Cishek finished up for his 5th save.

Game 4 @ The Magic Kingdom - Warpigs win 5-1. Aaron Judge went 3-5 with a 3-run homer for the Warpigs. Jake Odorizzi (3-1) went 8.2 for the win, losing his shutout in the 9th. Carl Edwards recorded the final out to earn his 2nd save.

Game 5 @ The Magic Kingdom - Warpigs win 5-4 in 12 innings. The Pig bats were quiet again, not waking up until the 9th inning when they scored 3 times to tie the game. The Warpigs scored 2 more in the top of the 12th and withstood a Goof homer in the bottom of the inning for the win. Adam Warren (2-1) got the win, and Steve Cishek rescued Carl Edwards to get his 6th save.

D.J. Lemahieu went 12 for 23 in the 5-game series.

Warpigs 2, Killer Bees 1

Game 1 - Warpigs 4, Killer Bees 3 - Aaron Judge hit a 2-run homer in the first inning to give the Pigs the early lead. Jake Odorizzi made it stand up with no hits allowed into the 4th, but when the Bees finally did get a hit, it was a 3-run home run by Andrew Benintendi. The Pigs tied it on a single by J.T. Realmuto in the 5th and took the lead on a 2-out double by D.J. Lemahieu in the 6th. Five Pig relievers held onto the lead, giving the win to Odorizzi (2-1). Steve Cishek pitched the last third of an inning for his 4th save.

Game 2 - Killer Bees 3, Warpigs 1 - Six Bee pitchers scattered 9 Pig hits for the win. It might have been worse, but Andrew Benintendi is, for some reason, weak vs LHP, turning what would have been a grand slam into a 2-run single. Jimmy Nelson earned the win, with Fernando Rodney getting the save. Danny Duffy (2-2) pitched well but took the loss.

Game 3 - Warpigs 4, Killer Bees 1 - Aaron Judge hammered his 9th and 10th homers of the young season for the Pigs, and Luis Severino (3-1) went 8.2 innings for the win. Sean Doolittle came on for the final out to earn his 2nd save.

Mavs 5, Fungoes 5

The Mavs and Fungoes played ten games side by side today that were far too ugly for either team to comment on so we’ll leave it to Hal.

4/7:  Dan Straily went 7 strong innings as the Waxahachie Fungoes beat the Midlothian Mavs by a score of 4 to 0.  Straily(1-0) escaped virtually unscathed against the Midlothian hitters.  He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.  Waxahachie ended up with 10 hits for the game while Midlothian had 3.  Jason Hammel(2-7) was hit with the loss.  He surrendered 7 hits and no walks in 6 innings.

4/8:  Matt Harvey delivered 7 solid innings and Eric Hosmer went yard and had 3 RBI as the Waxahachie Fungoes bested the dreadful Midlothian Mavs 4 to 2 at WTF Field.  Waxahachie tallied 2 runs in the 6th inning.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Hosmer who made the crowd happy when he clubbed a two-run home run. Midlothian was set down quietly in the 9th.   Harvey(1-0) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. David Robertson gained credit for his 1st save.  Carlos Carrasco(3-5) took the loss.  He surrendered only 3 runs and 4 hits in 7 innings.  

4/9:  At WTF Field, the Waxahachie fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.  Carlos Martinez(2-4) finally bested his Waxahachie opposite, Joe Musgrove(0-1), by the score of 3 to 0.  Martinez contributed a very nicely pitched game.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk in 7 and 1/3 innings.  Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 3rd inning with no runs scored after that point.  Musgrove was charged with the loss.  He pitched 6 innings giving up 5 hits and 2 walks.

5/19:  At Juan Gonzalez Field the Midlothian Mavs outscored the Waxahachie Fungoes 6 to 3.  Waxahachie never recovered after Midlothian took the lead in the 2nd inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits.  Waxahachie was set down quietly in the 9th.  Dinelson Lamet(2-2) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Lamet got help from Mychal Givens who was credited with his 4th save.  Ian Kennedy(0-1) suffered the loss.  He surrendered 4 homeruns in his 5 innings.  The win by Midlothian is a very welcome one as they have been struggling in recent days.  Their record now stands at 16-44 - only 2-8 in their last ten games.  With the loss Waxahachie now has a record of 2-2.

5/20:  In a close game the Waxahachie Fungoes got by the pathetic Midlothian Mavs by the score of 10 to 8.  Will Harris(1-0) slammed the door shut in an excellent relief performance.  He did not allow a baserunner in his 1 inning.  A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.  David Robertson gained credit for his 2nd save.  The losing pitcher was Joakim Soria(0-3) in relief.  His ERA ballooned from 3.93 to 4.58 as he allowed 3 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.  

6/16:  In a good matchup it was the Waxahachie Fungoes 6, the lifeless [oh really?  This is the best we’ve played all year] Midlothian Mavs 3 at WTF Field.   Waxahachie wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits.  David Robertson pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 3rd save.  German Marquez(1-0) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Jason Hammel(2-8) took the loss.  He allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.  

6/17:  Left fielder Starling Marte had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Midlothian Mavs beat the Waxahachie Fungoes by a score of 2 to 1.  Waxahachie found themselves trailing quickly as the Midlothian bats came through in the first inning when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits.  That was all the runs Carlos Carrasco(4-5) needed.  Midlothian finished with 7 hits in the victory.  Carrasco was helped out by Mychal Givens who recorded his 5th save.  Lance McCullers(0-1) was tagged with the loss.  He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 6 innings and not allowing an earned run.  

8/9:  In a close game the Midlothian Mavs got by the Waxahachie Fungoes by the score of 4 to 2. Midlothian had 3 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning when they came up with 4 base hits.  It was enough scoring to earn the victory. Waxahachie threatened in the 9th but Midlothian was able to put down the rally.  The win was credited to Jason Hammel(3-8) who went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run. Mychal Givens recorded his 6th save.  The losing pitcher was German Marquez(1-1).   Despite losing Waxahachie's manager was optimistic after the game.  'We'll get over this one.  Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't.  Any one of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'  Midlothian now has a record of 17-46.  With the loss, Waxahachie has a record of 4-3 lately, 4-3 overall.

8/10:  Bryce Harper homered and had 3 RBI at Juan Gonzalez Field as the Midlothian Mavs beat the Waxahachie Fungoes 8 to 3.  Waxahachie was unable to recover after Midlothian went ahead in the 2nd inning when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits.  Midlothian had 10 hits for the night.  Carlos Carrasco(5-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and allowing 3 runs. Ian Kennedy(0-2) ended up with the loss.  Midlothian scored big getting 7 runs off him in 4 innings.  With this win, Midlothian has a 19-46 record.  They have been 5-5 lately. With the loss, Waxahachie has a record of 4-5 lately, 4-5 overall.

8/11:  Lance McCullers mowed down 11 Midlothian batters as the Waxahachie Fungoes beat the woeful [there just aren’t enough adjectives for this] Midlothian Mavs by a score of 2 to 0.  McCullers(1-1) was tremendous on the mound for Waxahachie.  He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and no walks in 7 innings.  Waxahachie had only 6 hits for the game.  McCullers was helped out by David Robertson who recorded his 4th save.  Carlos Martinez(2-5) ended up with the loss.  He allowed 2 runs and 5 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings.  'Everything felt great' McCullers said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody today.'

The Fungoes traded picks 13, 29, and 76 to the Tweeners for picks 5, 69, and 85.

Your Draft Primer

As if the fact that the draft is less than 4 days away isn't enough, here's some additional good news. It appears NetPlay may have finally been improved enough to use on a regular basis. This falls under the "I'll believe it when I see it" category, but I've played home and home games vs the Wahoos and home and home games vs the DVs over the last couple of days without a single problem. You should try it out before Friday just to see if you have any issues.

Glenn asked me to pass on a couple of notes about the draft...

We had some issues last season with teams running out of innings or at bats at certain positions.

For pitchers, it is a good idea to have a MINIMUM of 1,000 SP innings and 500 RP innings. That's a minimum. MIN-I-MUM! Any fewer than that, and you're going to have trouble making it to the end of the season. In addition, be aware that just because you have a player who is SP/RP and has 120 innings doesn't mean you should count him for BOTH your starter and relief innings. It doesn't work like that.

And honestly, the teams that had players run over typically had plenty of unused innings by their other players - it was just that one or two of the pitchers were being used way too often (usually by Hal). First, draft enough innings. Then, check constantly throughout the season to make sure no one is being overused. And if they are, put them on the taxi for awhile - especially for road games being managed by CM.

For hitters, figure around 600-650 AB or 680-700 plate appearances per position. Last year, the 16 teams averaged 5583 ABs, 516 walks, 67 HBPs, and 23 Sac Bunts (why does almost no one keep SFs?). Where they bat in the order will affect the totals, of course. I still remember the first time I played the Bandits. Ab had Kal Daniels batting 9th every game, and I couldn't figure out why a stud card like that was buried at the bottom of the order until he explained to me that he would last longer batting there. Just make sure you have everything covered before playing your first game.

We have always worked on the honor system with regards to ABs, IPs, and your pitching rotation, and it's pretty much always worked. Just be aware and take care of your shit. If you're going to carry that 30-inning pitcher or 50-AB prospect (I don't wanna name names, but you know who you are - and RHI KNOW who you are), just make sure you're covered by the other players on your team.

2018 Zits

Time for the eagerly-awaited unveiling of the 2018 Zit roster, the only available review of the most inept team possible with the available cards. While some of the choices can be (master)debated, the possibility of 150+ losses is irrefutable.

Starting with the Arson Squad:

SP – JERED WEAVER -Ya gotta have an ace, and who better to lead the staff than this grizzled veteran? Not only can’t he keep the ball in the park, but in the event that someone doesn’t homer he can’t hold, either.

SP – BRETT ANDERSON – What staff can function without a lefty? Especially one who can’t get lefties out – or hold baserunners when they get on.

SP – CESAR VALDEZ – A young fire-baller who epitomizes the incendiary meltdown tendencies of a prototypical Zit, every “7” on his card is a hit. He does have a -2 hold, but no one ever hits singles against this guy.

SP – DREW VERHAGEN – Every “9” is a homer chance. Need more be said?

Long Relief – BRADEN SHIPLEY – When Zit starters inevitably tire from tossing BP, Shipley can come in for the long-haul and keep fanning the flames.

Setup – FRANKIE MONTAS – This guy can really set the table with over 15 points of taters vs lefties (not including the 8 points of BP). Spud City here we come!

CL – SHAWN KELLEY – With a closer rating of 3, this card makes you wonder what it takes to get a 6. Ever seen a 6-7 N-HR before? Check out his righty side.

On to the hitters:

C – LUKE MAILE – OK, defensively he’s actually very non-Zit-like. Too bad it didn’t transfer to his offensive capabilities.

1B – CHASE D’ARNAUD – He can actually get a (rare) hit against righties, but he makes up for it by showing flaccid-bat syndrome against lefties and having digit-less hands defensively.

2B – MIKE FREEMAN – How does a “3” at 2B get an e59? Oh yeah, the only chance for a hit on his card is on the right side, with a 3-4 HR-1/flyout 2-20. This is a clean-up hitter extraordinaire.

3B – JAE-GYUN HWANG – Good thing there’s a Hwang in his name, ‘cause he doesn’t show one in his hitting.

SS – RAUL MONDESI – The team speed-demon who’s so fast he outruns groundballs to earn an e56. He’s a * stealer, but how he earned this is a mystery since he’s never on base to steal.

LF – CODY ASHE – The Zit team captain, with only HBPs on his card and a 5(+1)e3 in left.

CF – ALEJANDRO DE AZA – What team is complete without a veteran presence in the clubhouse? Showing e21 (in)capabilities in all three outfield positions as well as a total inability to get on base, young Zits have the opportunity to observe full-fledged acne.

RF – TYLER WADE – The poster boy for the Cancer Bat Society. Power rankings don’t read “W,” they read “WTF?”

DH – STUART TURNER – Also functions as the back-up catcher. The only Zit with “N” power on both sides, which is good, because there’s almost no other way he can get a hit.

Pigs and Hoos Swap Picks

The Warpigs traded picks 97, 98, and 100 to the Wahoos for picks 30, 160, and 180.

At pick 96, the Sidewinders make their final selection. At pick 97, the Wahoos make their first.

Bohl Weevils Pick a Ball Park

The Brantford Bohl Weevils will play their home games this year in Arizona. Singles are 15 both ways; homers are 11.

Pre-Draft Rosters Are Set

After a flurry of last minute (and fairly meaningless) deals, the 2018 NASOMA pre-draft rosters are set.

The draft picks at the end of the draft have been adjusted to fit everyone's roster size. Several teams lost their 11th and 12th round picks (two teams lost late 10th rounders), and the Goofs, Mavs, and Wahoos gained tag-on picks at the end of the draft. If you had a pick numbered 155 or later, that pick is either gone from your list or it has a new (better) number after the adjustments.

The last official pick of the regular draft belongs to the Wahoos, and it is pick 181. There will, of course, be a Lightning Round following the regular draft for anyone wanting to participate.

Goofs and Pigs Trade

The Goofs traded Andrew Toles to the Warpigs for Brandon Drury and the Pigs' 2019 10th round pick.

Martin Prado Traded to Fungoes

The DVs traded Martin Prado and pick 137 to the Fungoes for pick 125.

Wilmer Flores to the Buckeyes

The Rhinos traded Wilmer Flores to the Buckeyes for pick 159.

Bees Trade Two Relievers to the Buckeyes

The Killer Bees traded Dan Jennings and Dan Otero to the Buckeyes for their 7th round pick in 2019.

Buchter to the Pigs

The DVs traded left-handed reliever Ryan Buchter to the Warpigs for pick 61.

Adam Jones to the DVs

The Inmates parted with their long-time center fielder Adam Jones today, sending him to the DVs. The DVs also receive picks 116 and 137. The Inmates get the 2019 3rd round pick of the DVs.

The plan is for Jones, 32, to man CF for the DVs until Victor Robles is ready to take over.

Warpigs and Drillers Swap Hitters

The Drillers traded Jake Lamb and Tim Beckham to the Warpigs for Carlos Gonzalez and Asdrubal Cabrera.

CarGo will be part of a RF platoon for Oklahoma, while Lamb returns to Hooterville as the lefty side of the DH platoon.

The two utility infielders provide the Drillers and Warpigs with the same role, but Cabrera excels vs LHP and Beckham is a little better vs righties.

Fungoes Raid the Cut Piles for Pitching

The Drillers traded Ian Kennedy and Pedro Baez to the Fungoes for pick 109.

The Nads traded Michael Feliz and pick 82 to the Fungoes for pick 77.

DVs and Bees Trade Pitchers

The DVs traded relievers Alex Claudio and Alex Colome to the Killer Bees for starting pitchers Luis Perdomo and Julio Teheran, infielder Chris Owings, and future considerations.

The Bees are the winner of the much-coveted Claudio sweepstakes, and all it took was a couple of washed-up starters and a utility infielder - none of whom was going to make the Bee roster. The future considerations will probably be draft picks that the Bees would otherwise lose at cutdown. Said the DV manager, "Our goal, as always, is to achieve mediocrity. I believe we are almost there."

Drury to the Pigs

The DVs traded Brandon Drury to the Warpigs for pick 148.

Drury, who was already on the DV cut list, is 25 and penciled in to be the starting third baseman for the Yankees. He may still be a Pig cut - either before or after the draft - but for now he has hopes of serving an apprenticeship under Adrian Beltre before taking over the reins at the hot corner.

Cards We Don't Use

When you start sorting your cards, there will be some you'll need to remove. For one thing, there are 42 pitcher batting cards to eliminate. Also, there are a number of split cards for guys who were traded between leagues during the 2017 season. Below is a list of those cards, with the number of ABs or IPs on the card to help identify them. Some have one extra card; some have two. I put this together hurriedly, so I wouldn't be surprised to find I left somebody off or messed up. If you see a mistake, let me know and I'll fix it.

Warpigs Acquire First Overall Pick

The Warpigs traded David Peralta, Guillermo Heredia, and Jose Iglesias to the Nads for picks 1, 97, and 100.

For the Nads, filling three holes instead of one with the first pick makes the rest of the draft easier. Peralta will play LF. Heredia can platoon with him in left while serving as the backup in CF and RF. But the big addition for the Nads was getting Jose Iglesias and his ss-1e8 and +13 clutch points.

The Pigs move into the #1 spot in the draft. Who they have targeted there has not been announced, but with LF now completely empty, there's a good chance pick 1 will be used to fill the void.

The New and Improved Mocktastic Draft

There are people out there who have cards in their hands right. I am not one of them, of course. To honor Opening Day 2018, here's the latest Mock Draft.

1. Nads - Tommy Pham. In the first Mock Draft, I had the Nads taking Devers here, but Pham has probably the best card in the draft, he's balanced, and he has 444 ABs. He's very deserving of the first pick in the draft. If I had the first pick in the draft, I wouldn't hesitate before picking Pham. (Note: After typing this, I looked at MLB's Top 100 Players Right Now, and Pham is #59, the highest ranked player not already on a NASOMA roster.)

2. Killer Bees - Avisail Garcia. The Bees still think they can win this year. This delusion will lead to the first mistake of the draft.

3. SuperGoofs - Shohei Ohtani. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

4. Inmates - Chad Green. Smart owners don't take relievers with the 4th pick of the draft. But winning managers do. The HEAD INMATE fights off every one of his natural instincts and grabs the best relief card available.

5. Tweeners - Luis Castillo. The Tweeners have a good rotation already, but they're all left-handed. Castillo only has 89 innings and cannot relieve, but he's the best combination of useful card and prospect among the available pitchers.

6. Drillers - Zack Godley. It's gotta be killing DD to take a 28-year old starting pitcher here instead of, say, Vlad's kid, but the Drillers are about to kick off their most promising season since Bonds was applying the clear every day. Godley makes them better right now.

7. Weevils - Austin Barnes. Why not? Somebody has to catch that stable of aces. And Barnes can also help the offense although in a limited role.

8. FFTs - Chris Taylor. Another pick that's consistent with Mock1, but that's only because it's such a perfect pick.

9. DVs - Brad Peacock. The head DV said about Peacock, "His name makes me giggle."

10. Mavs - Rafael Devers. The Mavman will be beside himself with glee when the young but unproven Devers slips this far. It's unusual for the Mavman to be beside himself; he is usually beside the Buckeyes.

11. Rhinos - Ronald Acuna. And all the bettors who put money on a Rhino run through the playoffs tear up their ticket stubs simultaneously while muttering, "Knew it."

12. Inmates - Tucker Barnhart. The Barnhart pick brings out the first "good pick" of the draft. But since it was the HEAD INMATE who said it, I don't think it counts.

13. Fungoes - Chase Anderson. The Fungoes need pitching. After this pick, they'll still need pitching, but this is a great start.

14. Mavs - Rhys Hoskins. Meanwhile, the Head Buckeye, who was holding the Hoskins card, reconsiders seating arrangements for future drafts.

15. Buckeyes - Matt Olson. In his 189 AB at Buckeye Park, he'll hit around 45 homers.

16. Tweeners - Eddie Rosario. Big slide for Rosario, and it makes no sense. He's one of the best full-time hitters in the draft. Tweeners catch a break.

17. Killer Bees - Jordan Montgomery. Nice starting pitcher to get in the 2nd round - especially when facing the Snakes. Like the Bees can beat the Snakes. Ha!

18. Nads - Alcides Escobar. Same as last mock draft. The Nads get their ss-1.

19. SuperGoofs - Jhoulys Chacin. There aren't many decent SPs with a good amount of innings remaining. Chacin isn't a sexy pick, but he's a good one.

20. Inmates - Paul DeJong. It's the Year of the Inmates.
