June 13 - Buckeyes 5 Goofs 1 - Margot's 3 run homer is the main offense. Bridwell and 2 relievers combine on a 3 hitter

June 14 - Buckeyes 4 Goofs 0 - Gio and 2 relievers shut out Goofs again

June 15 - Buckeyes 7 Goofs 1 - Buckeyes get 7 in the first and that holds up.

Warpigs 4, SuperGoofs 1

To celebrate Opening Day, the Pigs and Goofs met up for 5 games. The Goofs haven't uploaded (or even bought) the game yet, so we resorted to TeamViewer. So with the Cubs/Marlins and Mets/Cardinals providing the backdrop...

Game 1 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 5-3. The first time thru the lineup, FIVE Goofs had HR opportunities. Two hit it out and another doubled. The Goofs led 3-0 early, but the Pigs fought back, scoring 2 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings. Joe Mauer singled and tripled, driving in 3 to lead the Pigs. Rich Hill (1-1) got the win, and Adam Warren got his 2nd save.

Game 2 @ The BallPork - Goofs win 3-1. Masahiro Tanaka threw a complete game 5-hitter for the win. Odubel Herrera went 3-5 with a triple and 3 runs batted in for the Goofs. Jacob deGrom struck out 12 for the Pigs.

Game 3 @ The Magic Kingdom - Warpigs win 4-3 in 15 innings. Sean Newcomb shut out the Pigs for 5.1 innings, but the Goof pen gave up a 3-run 8th inning to extend the game. J.T. Realmuto homered to lead off the top of the 15th for the winning run. Carl Edwards (1-0) was the winner, and Steve Cishek finished up for his 5th save.

Game 4 @ The Magic Kingdom - Warpigs win 5-1. Aaron Judge went 3-5 with a 3-run homer for the Warpigs. Jake Odorizzi (3-1) went 8.2 for the win, losing his shutout in the 9th. Carl Edwards recorded the final out to earn his 2nd save.

Game 5 @ The Magic Kingdom - Warpigs win 5-4 in 12 innings. The Pig bats were quiet again, not waking up until the 9th inning when they scored 3 times to tie the game. The Warpigs scored 2 more in the top of the 12th and withstood a Goof homer in the bottom of the inning for the win. Adam Warren (2-1) got the win, and Steve Cishek rescued Carl Edwards to get his 6th save.

D.J. Lemahieu went 12 for 23 in the 5-game series.

DVs 6, Wahoos 5

After taking 4 of the first 5 between the Wahoos and DVs, the Wahoos seemed to let their guard down and proceeded to lose 5 of the next 6.

Highlights of the day include:

Edwin Encarnacion hit 7 homers (4 in the first 2 games) and hit .366 with 15 RBI. 

Sean Rodriguez hit .412 with 6 homers and 10 RBI.

In 39 at-bats, Khris Davis hit 4 homers and drove in only 4 runs.

Zach Britton threw 11 scoreless innings.

Brian McCann, Mike Moustakas and Ryan Braun each hit 4 homers.

Mavs 6, Inmates 4

Inmates 19 – Mavs 2 (Baptist Bowl): Holy Shit, Batman! The Inmates had innings of seven and eight runs, hit four taters (including a grand-slammer by Castro) and had excellent pitching. The Mavs garnered four hits and had shitty pitching. All-in-all, a portent of things to come in a wacky and bizarre series.

Mavs 10 – Inmates 0 (Baptist Bowl): The LDMF made a return to the friendly confines, with crappy pitching by Davies and a total lack of offense. C. Martinez and the Mav bullpen combined on a five-hit shutout. Davis homered twice; only Upton of the Mav starters failed to get a hit.

Inmates 3 – Mavs 0 (Juan Gonzalez Field): A pitchers’ duel (!!), with the Mavs gaining only two hits as the Inmates returned the shutout favor. Hector Sanchez hit a pinch homer, but otherwise not too much happened.

Mavs 3 – Inmates 2 (Juan Gonzalez Field): The Mavs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three, then hung on as the lack of offense by both teams continued. Bush earned the save despite allowing a 612-foot homer to Cespedes in the top of the 9^th.

Inmates 10 – Mavs 0 (Juan Gonzalez Field): Quintana pitched a no-hitter into the 8^th and the Inmates pounded Odorizzi for the third shutout in five games between the two teams. The only Mav hit came when Gyorko hit a 5-8 off of Quintana’s card (he missed the 1-18 double and settled for a single). Four Mav errors compounded the misery.

Mavs 6 – Inmates 1 (Baptist Bowl): Holding a 1-0 lead into the 5^th, Manaea ran out of innings and hit the floor. After the Inmate Arson Squad took over all hell broke loose - the Inmates stopped hitting, and rolled over to play dead. C. Martinez earned the W for the Mavs.

Mavs 7 – Inmates 6 (13 innings – Baptist Bowl): In a game where Inmate starter Gray hit the floor at the end of the third inning, both teams decided this would be the perfect time to have an extra-inning marathon to drain the bullpens and try to run out of ABs and IPs. Compounding the “duh-ness,” the Mavs’ winning scored in the 13^th on a Gyorko double-play ball.

Inmates 8 – Mavs 7 (Baptist Bowl): The wind was blowing out at gale-force strength, giving most of the 90 Inmate attendees a souvenir baseball. The Inmates hit three homers on the day, while the Mavs managed SEVEN solo shots. An impressive, if futile, power display in a game that was to be the last Inmate regular-season victory. Quintana won his 19^th of the year despite allowing four bombs.

Mavs 7 – Inmates 1 (Juan Gonzalez Field): Can you say roll-over and surrender? The Mavs totally out-pitched and out-hit the LDMF. ‘Nuff said.

Mavs 2 – Inmates 1 (Juan Gonzalez Field): Quintana, in a bid for his 20^th win, held the Mavs scoreless through six when he ran out of innings and left the game leading 1-0. Never fear, Mav fans. AJ Ramos allowed two runs on two hits and a walk in 1/3 inning for a stellar Blown Save/Loss/Eat Me stat line.

Inmates 5, Tweeners 0

Inmates 4 – Tweeners 3 (Baptist Bowl): JD Martinez hit a two-run double in the Inmate 4^th giving the Beakless Chicken Gang a 4-3 lead that stood up for the rest of the game.

Inmates 4 – Tweeners 2 (Baptist Bowl): Quintana pitched six shutout innings while the Inmate Arson Squad allowed solo taters to Schoop and Villar to make the game interesting. All the Tweeners could do was get close, however.

Inmates 7 – Tweeners 2 (Baptist Bowl): Wilson Ramos homered twice and drove in five runs off of MadBum for all the runs the Good Guys would need. Arenado padded his stats by homering for the Tweeners in a losing cause.

Inmates 8 – Tweeners 5 (HooverDome): A closer game than what the final score indicated. The Inmates scored three in the 9^th to put the game away, capped by Altuve’s two-run single.

Inmates 7 – Tweeners 4 (HooverDome): Naquin finished a double shy of the cycle in a losing cause as the Inmates helped their playoff chances by clubbing the Tweeners 7-4. Pineda, unbelievably, got the win despite allowing hits to everyone in the bleachers.

May 20 @ WTF:

Fungoes outlast the Drillers winning an often tied game 6-4.  Kennedy takes the loss for the Drillers while Santiago improves to 9-4 

winning it for the Fungoes.  Harris picks up save number 24.  Blackmon homered for the visitors while Brett Gardner homered and 

drove in 3 runs for the Fungoes.

May 21 @ WTF:

Fungoes hold on to win a close one 3-2.  Shoemaker takes the loss for the Drillers while Shawn Kelley picks up the win in relief for 

the Fungoes.  Daniel Robertson picks up his 4th save of the season.  

May 22 @ WTF:

Drillers take a 2-0 lead into the 6th but Fungoes score 6 over the next two innings and win it 6-2.  David Price improves his record to 13-10 

with the win while Taillon takes the loss for the Drillers.  Cabrera and Beckham homer for the Drillers while Carpenter and Sal Perez homer for 

the home team.  

July 2 @ OUD:

Shoemaker shuts out the Fungoes allowing 6 hits and the Drillers win it 8-0.  Blackmon homers twice for the Drillers.  Straily takes the loss 

for the Fungoes falling to 9-10 on the season.

July 3 @ OUD:

Fungoes break out to a 6-0 lead and then hold on to win it 6-5.  Santiago gets the win improving to 10-6 while Taillon takes the loss.  Harris 

collects his 25th save.  Blackmon goes yard for the Drillers.

July 28 @ WTF:

Drillers win this one 4-3.  Taillon picks up the win while Straily gets the loss.  Drillers were held to just 3 hits but its enough for the Visitors as 

Donaldson and Yelich each homer and Blackmon tosses in a triple.  Bryan Shaw picks up the save.

July 29 @ WTF:

Drillers unleash the big sticks in this one winning it 12-4.  Shoemaker picks up the win while Santiago earns the loss.  Andriese picks up the 4 

inning save in relief.  Buster Posey hits the only home run.

August 8 @ OUD:

Fungoes win this one 4-1 behind the strong effort of Santiago.  He improves his record to 11-5.  Will Harris collects his 26th save while Shoemaker

takes the loss for the Drillers.  Betts, Hosmer and Blackmon all homer.  Santiago hits the floor during this game for the Fungoes.

August 9 @ OUD:

Fungoes win this one 6-3 behind David Price.  Price improves to 14-10 on the season.  Will Harris collects save number 27.  Taillon takes the loss.

Betts, Trout and Blackmon hit homers. 

August 10 @ OUD:

Fungoes win the finale 6-1 behind a fine 5 inning effort by Clayton Kershaw.  Kershaw improves his record to 17-4.  Fullmer takes the loss for the 

Drillers.  Homer runs are hit by Trout, Hosmer and (YEP) Blackmon.  Blackmon is on quite the tear for the Drillers having hit 10 home runs in the 

10 games vs the Fungoes this season driving in 12!

Fungoes are now 87 - 62 on the season.

DVs 6 – Inmates 3 (Baptist Bowl): Jansen got a two-inning save while the Inmates forgot how to hit. 16 Inmate faithful showed up for Fake Vomit night, only to fill their puke pots with the real stuff after watching Inmate ineptitude.

Inmates 5 – DVs 1 (Baptist Bowl): Despite the best efforts of the Inmate bullpen to give the game away the Good Guys won. The DVs outhit the Inmates 9-8, but Rizzo and Jones both homered. All DV hits were singles.

Inmates 4 – DVs 3 (DV-ville): The Beakless Chicken Gang jumped to a 4-0 lead, then held on. The DVs threatened in the last of the 9^th, but Hand came on for the save.

DVs 5 – Inmates 4 (DV-ville): DVs sweep a twinbill 5-4, 5-4. Two unearned runs on an error by Quintana proved to be the game winners in the opener. Jansen saved both halves of the doubleheader.

DVs 5 – Inmates 4 (DV-ville): Back-to-back homers by Seager and Bogaerts in the 8^th erased a 2-1 Inmate lead. The Inmates came back with a two-run homer by Altuve in the 9^th off of Jansen, but it wasn’t enough.

Tweeners 1, Wahoos 1

Game 1

King Felix and some bullpen help outdueled Verlander and Co. on the way to a 2-1 victory. Wahoos couldn't hit. Gave up a run in the first after walking the bases loaded. Just one of those games that everything goes wrong.

Game 2

The opposite of Game 1. Sean Rodriguez hit a 3-run homer before we even made an out. MadBum gave up a bunch of stuff. Edwin homered. Khris Davis hit a pair. Ozuna went deep. Wahoos win, 9-1. Jose Fernandez goes 5 for the win. Familia finishes for the save.

2017 Midlothian Mavs At 2017 Belldale Rhinos              7/26/2017

Right fielder Wil Myers smashed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Belldale

Rhinos outscored the Midlothian Mavs 9 to 3.

 

Myers had a great day at the plate.  He had the crowd cheering his every move.

He lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 4th inning and lofted

a three-run bomb in the 5th inning.  Belldale totaled 9 hits on the

afternoon. 

 

Alex Reyes(1-1) allowed 1 run in 6 innings, and picked up the victory. Julio

Urias was credited with his 1st save.  Jason Hammel(2-7) absorbed the loss.

He surrended 4 homeruns in his 5 and 2/3 innings. 

 

2017 Midlothian Mavs At 2017 Belldale Rhinos              7/27/2017

The Belldale Rhinos bested the Midlothian Mavs by a 6 to 2 score at The Rhino

Reserve.

 

Midlothian never recovered after Belldale took the lead in the bottom of the

3rd inning when they tallied 3 runs on 2 hits.  That early scoring was all

that Aaron Nola(2-1) needed.  Belldale and Midlothian each finished the

afternoon with 6 hits. 

 

Nate Jones recorded the save, his 7th.  Jeremy Hellickson(2-7) was the loser.

He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings and not allowing an

earned run. 

 

The Belldale ballclub's record now stands at 18-9.  With this loss, Midlothian

has a 4-6 record of late, 39-36 overall.

Nick Castellanos slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI at Juan Gonzalez Field where

the Midlothian Mavs beat the Belldale Rhinos by the score of 10 to 6.

 

In the bottom of the 4th inning Midlothian went on top for good when they came

up with 2 runs on 1 hit.  The critical plate appearance was by Jonathan

Lucroy who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he smashed a two-run

homer.  Belldale was out-hit by Midlothian, 15 hits to 9. 

 

Pedro Strop(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.

Matt Bush earned the save, his 11th.  Noah Syndergaard(7-2) ended up with the

loss.  He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 5 and 1/3 innings of work.

Shortstop Javier Baez left the yard and had 4 RBI as the Belldale Rhinos

defeated the Midlothian Mavs by the score of 14 to 8 at Juan Gonzalez

Field.

 

Baez was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at

their team's expense.  He singled in the 3rd inning, belted a three-run homer

in the 4th inning and laced a one-base hit in the 6th inning.  Belldale

finished with 17 hits while Midlothian ended up with 12. 

 

Aaron Sanchez(5-2) got the win allowing 8 runs in 7 innings. Jason Hammel(2-8)

was tagged with the loss.  He surrended 3 homeruns in his 5 innings.

Alex Reyes(2-1) delivered a fine performance for Belldale.  He was reached for

2 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.  After the 4th inning, neither team was able

to score. 

 

Chris Devenski recorded his 2nd save.  Jeremy Hellickson(2-8) ended up with

the loss.  He gave up 10 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.

DVs 4, Warpigs 3

First 4 games at The BallPork

Game 1 - Warpigs win 5-1. Adam Wainwright (10-15) made the most of his last 6.2 innings to become the first (and only) Pig pitcher to reach 10 wins. Jake Lamb had a triple and a homer, and drove in 3.

Game 2 - Warpigs win 4-1. Kendall Graveman (4-15) went 7 innings for the win. Raisel Iglesias earned his 21st save.

Game 3 - DVs win 11-1. Anthony DeSclafani (9-6) pitched well for 5 innings, but hit the floor trailing 2-1. The Pigpen then imploded, thanks mostly to 2 more errors by Starlin Castro. 7 of the 11 DV runs were unearned. Brandon Moss went 4-5 with 2 doubles and a homer. He drove in 3. Bartolo Colon went 5 innings for the win. He and a couple of relievers held the Pigs to 3 hits.

Game 4 - Warpigs win 7-4. J.T. Realmuto had a triple and a homer, and Carlos Rodon (6-11) somehow managed to not get killed in 5 innings work. The highlight of the game came late. After the DVs had crawled within 6-4, Francisco Liriano was called on to pinch hit, and smacked a long solo HR into Mr. Douglas's corn field. It was Liriano's 2nd homer of the year, and the 5th by Warpig pitchers this year. Iglesias earned save 22.

Last 3 games at DV Park by Viagra

Game 5 - DVs win 11-5. Archie Bradley (innings 1-2) and Michael Wacha (innings 3-4) combined to allow 11 runs (all earned) on 12 hits, 6 walks, and 3 homers in just 4 innings. After that it was just a matter of making sure everybody got to play. The Warpigs also hit 3 homers.

Game 6 - DVs win 6-4. Corey Seager homered twice and the DV pen held off a Warpig rally.

Game 7 - DVs win 5-3. A desperate attempt by the Warpigs to avoid 100 losses collapsed in vain. Reliever Raisel Iglesias entered the game with 2 outs in the 1st inning and pitched valiantly for 6.2 innings, keeping the game close. The DVs tied the game in the 7th on a Mike Moutakas homer; then scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th to wrap it up. Yasmany Tomas homered twice for the Pigs to wrest the team HR title away from Logan Forsythe. Unfortunately, he missed a 1-17 chance in the 9th that ended the game - and the season.

FFTs 2, Wahoos 1

FFTs win the first 2 games of the day. 

Leake baffles the Wahoos, 8-0. Then, after leading most of Game 2, they blew a 5-2 lead vs. the Wahoos with the tying run coming in the ninth. Then an HBP, walk and single and error ended it quickly and the FFTs won, 6-5.

The Wahoos used a pair of 2-run homers from Khris Davis and ran off from the FFts in the finale, 5-1.

Holy Double-fucking-play, Batman! The two teams combined to hit into 28 (18 by the Inmates)!

Inmates 1 – Goofs 0 (Magical Kingdom): A pitchers’ duel with Quintana prevailing over Wright. The only run of the game scored off of a Jones sac fly in the 2^nd. The Goofs managed only two hits.

Goofs 6 – Inmates 5 (Magical Kingdom): Given a 2-0 lead in the 7^th, Brad Hand proceeded to hand (get it? Hand job!...) the game to the Goofsters as the Magical Ones scored six in the inning for the win. Kang hit the first of what would be many homers on the day. The Inmates left the winning run on in the 9^th.

Goofs 1 – LDMF 0 (Baptist Bowl): Another pitching duel. Jankowski’s triple in the 8^th plated Escobar for the only run of the game. Roark got the CG victory.

Inmates 10 – Goofs 9 (14 innings – Baptist Bowl): A see-saw game for the ages. The Goofs jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the 5^th when both Escobar and Kang hit two-run taters (his second homer of the game). The Inmates came storming back in the bottom of the 9^th to tie the game at 5, sending things into extra-innings. The bullpens held things in check until Kang led off the 12^th with his third homer of the game to give the Goofs a 6-5 lead. That lasted for one pitch in the bottom of the inning as Altuve led off with a solo crank to tie things again. In the 13^th, the Goofs again took the lead on a pair of singles and a Jankowski sac fly. Once again, the Inmates came back in the bottom of the inning when Valbuena hit a solo blast with one out to tie the score 7-7. Not to be outdone, Ruiz hit a solo shot in the top of the 14^th, and Ramos walked Escobar with the bases loaded to add another run. Score: Goofs 9 – Inmates 7. In the bottom of the inning Altuve led off with a single and Segura followed with a two-run tater to tie the score. One out later Rizzo homered to end the game and put everyone out of their misery.

Inmates 9 – Goofs 0 (Magical Kingdom): An eight-run 7^th blew the game open for the Inmates, as the Goofs managed only three hits. Nothing else exciting.

Goofs 5 – Inmates 4 (10 innings – Magical Kingdom): Tanaka went the distance despite giving up four runs in the Inmate 2^nd, while the Inmates couldn’t muster any more offense. Brandon Phillips hit a walk-off single in the 10^th to end the game.

Inmates 3 – Goofs 2 (Magical Kingdom): A close well-played game. The Goofs put a runner on in the 9^th but couldn’t score. Quintana got the win; Degrom the loss.

Inmates 6 – Goofs 4 (Baptist Bowl): The Inmates jumped out to a 5-0 lead and then held on the rest of the way. Tanaka pitched another CG, this time in a losing effort. Segura had three hits, including a homer, for the Inmates.

Inmates 7 – Goofs 3 (Baptist Bowl): A four-run 1^st put the Beakless Chicken Gang on top for good as the good guys coasted for the victory. Cargo tatered while Quintana picked up his third win of the series.

Inmates 4 – Goofs 3 (Baptist Bowl): A two-run home by Valbuena in the Inmate 7^th proved to be the game-winner. Wright took the loss; Madson got credit for a long save.

Fungoes and DVs all even after 9 innings, 2-2.  Fungoes walk it off in the bottom half of

the 10th when Mike Trout slashes a bases loaded single into center field, winning it 3-2.  

Ryan Braun homers for the DVS.  Addison Reed takes the loss in relief while Will Harris 

(4-8) collects the win.  DVs outhit the Fungi 9-6.

June 22:

DVs score early and often and win it 9-4.  Joe Musgrove falls to 0-3 for the Fungoes while 

Bartolo Colon wins it for the DVs.  Cory Seagar and Martin Prado both homer for the DVs.

August 28:

Fungoes take an early 3-0 lead.  DVs even the score with a 3 run 5th inning.  Fungoes push

across a run in the bottom of the 6th and then hold on to win it 4-3.  David Price improves to

11-7.  Will Harris collects save number 21.  Miguel Gonzalez takes the loss for the DVs.

August 29:

Fungoes score 2 first inning runs and that is all of the scoring in this one, Fungoes win 2-0.  

Joe Musgrove collects his first win of the season improving his record to 1-3.  Seth Lugo 

takes the loss for the DVs.  Will Harris notches save number 22.  

August 30:

Fungoes jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.  DVs tie it up at 3 with 2 runs in the 3rd

inning and a single run in the 5th.  Fungoes score 1 in the bottom of the 5th and 1 more 

in the bottom of the 6th to take a 5-3 lead into the 6th.  DVs promptly tie it up at 5 when

they push accross 2 runs in the top of the 6th.  This game stays tied until the bottom half 

of the 14th inning when a whole lot of Bullshit fell directly onto the DVs and the Fungoes 

walk it off on a Rougned Odor ballpark single (1-7) when he rolled a 2.  Before that, Greg

Garcia led off the home half of the 14th with a single.  Sal Perez followed with a single (on 

an open triangle single 1-3 GBA 4-20).  Fungoes won it on bullshit but got there because the 

Fungo bullpen no-hit the DVs for the last 7 and 1/3 innings.  Win goes too Daniel Robertson

as he improves to 8-0.  Loss goes to Addison Reed.

Rhinos 5, Sidewinders 5

#1 Rhinos and Snakes trade runs in the first but it is all Sidewinders after that. SSWs win 9-1.   Dahl goes 3 for 4 and Ortiz and Belt hit 2 run HRs

#2 Again single runs are traded in the 1st and again it is all snakes after that. We win 9-4. Marte goes 5 for 5 and Lemahieu has a pair of RBI

#3 Rhinos stomp Moore and Wisler throws 8 shutout innings. I forgot to write down the score.

#4  Bryant and Votto go yard, Thor shuts down the snakes. I again forget to record the final score

#5 Rhinos win again. Sanchez is the winner and Diaz gets the save.Votto and Myers go deep.

#6 Rhinos win again. Fucking Joey Votto

#7  Moore beats Sanchez. A bunch of snakes hit a lot. Votto homers again

#8 Rhinos  win in bottom of 13th. Lemahieau turns 463 4-6-3 double plays

#9 Cueto beats sanchez.  A LOT of stuff happened. Trust me.

#10  SSWs win 9-1. Lester goes the distance
