Buckeyes 3, DVs 2

Buckeyes take 3 of 5 via Net Play at the DV's. No technical issues!

Oh, there were a few technical issues- mainly how every one of my starters (except Hendriks) got hacked while having their hard drive formatted by the Buckeye hitters.

To wit – DVs throw a combined shutout in game 1, then surrender 7, 10, 8 and 9 runs- with the last game being a 12-9 DV win where the official scorer declined to give Stephen Strasburg a “win” as his 5 inning, 8 run gag fest hardly qualified as anything resembling a win.

Inmates 5, Buckeyes 5

Inmates 5 – Buckeyes 5 (via netplay)

THE KURSE OF KIERMAEIR

Very evenly played series, though the Buckeyes cheated by allowing Kiermaier to play even after he was declared “assassinated” by the umpires.

Inmates 2 – Buckeyes 1 (Baptist Bowl): A pitcher’s duel. Rizzo hit a solo homer in the 1st, and Inciarte scored on a groundout by Rosario to end the scoring for the game. Wood earned the win; Green picked up the save.

Buckeyes 6 – Inmates 5 (Baptist Bowl): A see-saw game that came down to the last of the 9th. With two outs and Altuve on second, Rizzo missed a 1-14 homer chance to end the game. Parker picked up the win.

Buckeyes 6 – Inmates 4 (14 innings – Baptist Bowl): Kiermaier hit two taters on HR 1/something else 2-20 and drove in five runs, including the eventual game-winning two-run jack in the 14th. The Inmates sent the game into extra-innings in the 9th when Inciarte squeezed home a run with the bases loaded to tie things at 4-4 (never mind the LDMF showed up and couldn’t score any more). Hernandez picked up the win; Kiermaier was tarred and feathered by the Baptist Bowl Choralaires, while everyone else tried to figure out what in hell HAL was doing.

Inmates 5 – Buckeyes 3 (BuckeyeDome): Kiermaier hit ANOTHER homer, and was then HBP-plus-fatality. Nonetheless, Clevenger tossed a no-hitter into the 7th and the Beakless Chicken Gang held on for the win.

Buckeyes 5 – Inmates 2 (BuckeyeDome): Manaea pitched a complete game six-hitter, but three of the hits are still orbiting the earth. Cespedes tatered for the Good Guys to account for both Inmate runs. Cruz, Kinsler, and Turner supplied the Buckeyes’ power.

Inmates 6 – Buckeyes 3 (Baptist Bowl): A five-run Inmate 1st was enough for the victory, despite the Buckeyes’ refusing to quit. A rarity: Rizzo was HBP three times.

Inmates 3 – Buckeyes 2 (Baptist Bowl): Despite HAL’s relationship with Kiermaier (who homered still again), the pitching staffs showed off in another duel. Clevinger earned the win while Green picked up another save.

Buckeyes 8 – Inmates 4 (BuckeyeDome): Allen Wood allowed three homers, including a grand salami by Justin Turner, and the Buckeyes broke out their hitting shoes to club the Inmates. Rosario and Martinez homered for the BCG, but it wasn’t enough.

Buckeyes 8 – Inmates 4 (BuckeyeDome): Enrique Hernandez (!?) jacked two taters and the game wasn’t as close as the score indicated. Santana earned the win; Manaea took the loss.

Inmates 6 – Buckeyes 2 (BuckeyeDome): Four Inmates homered and Gray pitched into the 7th to lead the Inmates. With the split of ten games, both the Inmates and Buckeyes decided that they’d rather not play each other in the playoffs.

Warpigs 5, Goofs 0

Pigs finish off the Goofs, going 9-1 for the season with the Disney gang. Both parks are 0/0,0/0, so offense was difficult to come by.

Game 1 - Pigs win 3-2. The Pigs scored 2 in the 7th to untie the game, and then held off the Goofs in the 9th. Jon Jay went 3-3.

Game 2 - Pigs win 6-0. Danny Duffy threw a 6-hit shutout. Adrian Beltre went 3-4 with a 2-run double (just missed the Grand Slam - and then the runner from first was thrown out at the plate.)

Game 3 - Pigs win 3-2. All five runs came via home run this game. Christian Yelich led off the game with a solo shot. In the 5th inning, Nomar Mazara and Adeiny Hechevarria homered for the Goofs. Joe Mauer hit a 2-run shot in the 6th.

Game 4 - Pigs win 3-1. Adam Wainwright went the distance, scattering 6 hits. Corey Seager hit a 2-run double.

Game 5 - Pigs win 3-1. Duffy and two relievers held the Goofs to 4 hits.

Tweeners 2, Goofs 2

Last 4 games, expanded rosters, at the Hooverdome.

9/15 #1 - Goofs 5, Tweeners 1.  Tweeners couldn't figure out Tanaka, whereas Robbie Ray was an open book.  Homers by Herrera, Bell, and Leon.  A 9th inning homer by Mancini merely avoided the shutout.

9/15 #2 - Goofs 3, Tweeners 2.  Goofs sweep the double-header as Ivan Nova finally ran out of goofy magic dust.  Goofs go 0-9 with runners in scoring position, but homers by Bell, Mazara, and Maldonado are sufficient.  W - Rodriguez, S - Rusin.

9/16 - Tweeners 3, Goofs 2 (11 inn.).  Goofs' 2-run 1st looked like it would hold up, but Tweeners score single runs in the 8th and 9th to send it to extra innings.  In the 11th, Arenado drove in Schebler from 1st on a H&R double.  W - Montgomery, L - Stephenson.

9/17 - Tweeners 6, Goofs 5 (11 inn.).  Duda's second HR of the game highlighted a 4-run Goof 8th for a 5-2 lead, but Tweeners get 3 in the bottom half with homers by Smoak and Schoop.  In the 11th Grandal doubled, Pillar pinch-ran, Nova pinch-hit and sacrificed, Cozart pinch-hit a comebacker, Pillar out at home, but then the winning run again scored from 1st on an 11th inning double as Polanco drove in Cozart.  Joe Smith pitched 3.1 scoreless for the win, L- Faria.

Tweeners 9, Goofs 1

We knocked out 10 vs. Goofs, winning 9.  A step ahead of Demerit Man once again.

At The Magic Kingdom:

4/3 - Goofs 4, Tweeners 0.  W - Graveman, S - Stephenson, L - MadBum.  HR and 3 RBI for Bell.  Thereafter, overconfident Goofs begin phoning it in.

4/4 - Tweeners 2-1 (13 inn).  Mancini drove in both runs with doubles in the 6th & 13th.  W - Tuivailala, S - Minor, L - Stephenson.

4/5 - Tweeners 8-3.  W - Montgomery, L - Newcomb.  Homers for Pillar and Parra, 4 RBI for Smoak.

4/6 - Tweeners 4-1.  2-hitter CG for Nova, who allowed only a Duda dinger.  L - Wheeler.  HR and 2 more RBI for Smoak.

At The Hooverdome:

5/21 - Tweeners 18-2.  Another CG win for Nova.  L - Rodriguez.  Tweeners hitters who failed to drive in any runs were fined in kangaroo court.

5/22 - Tweeners 6-1.  W - Morton, L - Graveman.  Homers by Smoak and Schebler, and by Herrera for the Goofs only run.

5/23 - Tweeners 7-5.  W - Anderson, S - Petit, L - Cobb.  Goofs actually jumped out to a 4 run lead, but Tweeners strike for 2 in the 3rd and 5 in the 5th.  Homers for Suarez, Choo, Cozart, Springer, and Schebler (3-run shot).

Back to Orlando:

7/2 - Tweeners 9-7.  Goofs led early, but the had to score 3 in the 9th to make it look respectable.  W - Hernandez, S - Minor, L - Rodriguez.  Jorge Polanco's 2-out, 3-run, pinch-hit double in the 8th was yuge.

7/3 - Tweeners 8-0.  In something akin to the Twilight Zone, another CG victory for Ivan Nova, this a 5 hit shutout.  L - Graveman.  It was actually a competitive contest until Tweeners plated 5 in the 9th.  Springer homered.

7/4 - Tweeners 5-0.  Following the Nova humiliation, Goofs again fail to score.  A 3-hitter for MadBum.  Alex Cobb was the loser.  When questioned about his counterpart after the
game, Cobb was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Bumgarner brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!  At least the Independence Day post-game fireworks lived up to the hype.
