Weevils 3, Wahoos 2

Big news is the complete game shutout that Jake Arrieta threw. In a home game. Yeah, imagine that. Wahoos also won in a walkoff in game 5.

The Weevils are now only 1 game in back of the Buckeyes in the MFD.

Weevils 8, Nads 2

game 1 @ Weevils: Greinke goes 7IP allowing only 2 hits. 4 HR from the lineup powers a 9-1 victory
game 2 @ Weevils: Bundy is tagged for 8 ER on 3 Nads homers in the 9-3 loss. It's a Nad explosion!
game 3 @ Weevils: 7 solid innings from Hamels, with HR by Machado and McCutchen lead to a 6-2 Weevil win

game 4 @ the Ball Sack: Scherzer goes 8IP, with 8K and only 1 hit in the 1-0 duel
game 5 @ the Sack: Greinke likes pitching in KC again, going 7 innings and only surrendering 3 hits. Weevils win 7-2.

game 6 @ Weevils: Hamels goes 7IP allowing only 5 hits. Weevils rumble out 5 2B to keep everyone moving, winning 12-6
game 7 @ Weevils: Kluber Ks 14 Nads.....but allows 13 hits, taking the 9-4 loss.

Inmates 6, Weevils 4

Inmates 6 – Weevils 4 (via netplay)

Hard-fought back-and-forth series.

Inmates 6 – Weevils 4 (10 innings - BabyArm Park): Let’s see, 4-1 lead, last of the 9th, the Inmates have Green on the hill. No worries, right? Uh-huh. A Dickerson three-run homer later and the game goes into extra-innings. Rizzo hit a two-run shot in the 10th that held up for the win, but the rest of the series was about the same way.

Weevils 5 – LDMF 0 (BabyArm Park): Scherzer and company dominated the LDMF, allowing just three hits, as the Weevil pitching staff owned the game. Simmons and McCutcheon tatered for the Weevils.

Weevils 3 – LDMF 2 (Baptist Bowl): Scherzer fanned 14 in seven innings, totally shutting down the continued presence of the LDMF on three hits. Goldschmidt homered for the winners. Scherzer sucks.

Inmates 5 – Weevils 1 (Baptist Bowl): Cespedes and Santana both homered in the 8th to break up a 1-1 tie for the Inmate victory. The Weevils managed just two hits off of Quintana through six before the bullpen closed things down.

Weevils 7 – Inmates 5 (12 innings – Baptist Bowl): Chad Green, continuing his self-immolating ways, allowed a 9th inning game-tying homer to Hoskins (his second of the game) to allow the Weevils to take the game into extra innings. The Inmate offense totally shut down, while Goldschmidt crushed a two-run spud off of Morrow in the 12th for the game-winner.

Inmates 12 – Weevils 2 (BabyArm Park): A two-run tater by Goldschmidt in the 1st was all Salazar allowed as the Inmate bats pounded Scherzer for the only lopsided win of the day. Salazar struck out 17 in a complete game effort; Shaw homered twice for the Inmates. Scherzer deserved this.

Weevils 5 – Inmates 3 (BabyArm Park): Madson allowed two runs on three hits, including a homer, as the Weevils came from behind to kick the Beakless Chicken Gang. Giles earned the save; Greinke the win.

Inmates 9 – Weevils 7 (BabyArm Park): Another seesaw game, with the winning run scoring for the Inmates in a five-run 7th (after the Weevils had scored four in the 6th). The Inmate bullpen stopped most of the bleeding after Morrow allowed his second homer of the series (he allowed 0 during the 2017 season).

Inmates 12 – Weevils 9 (Baptist Bowl): The teams combined for seven homers on the day, including a pinch grand salami by Olson in the Weevil 7th to close the Inmate lead to 9-8. Hoskins hit a pair of homers, Bregman hit a pair of homers and drove home five runs, and the wild and wooly series continued. Wood took the win despite allowing eight hits in 5 2/3.

Inmates 2 – Weevils 1 (Baptist Bowl): Kluber K’d 13 Inmates, but a two-run single by Altuve in the 3rd stood up for the Beakless Chicken Gang. The Weevils made it interesting in the 9th vs Green but Hoskins fanned to end the game.

Bohl Weevils 6, Warpigs 4

via Netplay.

May 5 @ BabyArm Park - Weevils win 6-2. Anthony Rendon and Corey Dickerson both homered to back the pitching of Cory Kluber.

May 6 @ BabyArm Park - Weevils win 6-5 in 11 innings. The Weevils scored 4 first inning runs, but the Pigs battled back to take a 5-4 lead. One out away from evening the series, Corey Seager made a 2-base error to tie the game. The Weevils won it in the bottom of the 10th.

May 7 @ BabyArm Park - Weevils win 5-4. This time it was the Warpigs with an early 4-run inning and the Weevils battling back. The home team took the lead for good in the bottom of the 8th with back to back solo shots from Goldschmidt and Machado. The Pigs had a chance to tie it in the top of the 9th, but missed a 1-15 double.

June 7 @ The BallPork - Weevils win 7-1. A change of scenery, but not a change of results. Dylan Bundy was masterful for 6 shutout innings. Only a rare Joe Mauer homer in the 8th kept the Pigs from being shut out.

June 8 @ The BallPork - Weevils win 3-0. Nothing kept the Pigs from being shut out this game. Cole Hamels allowed only 1 hit in 6 innings (although he did walk 7). The Weevils have won 5 straight. All is not well in Hooterville.

July 11 @ BabyArm Park - Warpigs win 12-2. Some frustrations were tended to. Mauer and Realmuto each had 3 hits and Ezekial Carrera went 2-2 with a homer. Rich Hill went 5.1 for the win.

July 12 @ BabyArm Park - Weevils win 4-1. The Pigs led 1-0 in the 8th when Rhys Hoskins pinch hit a grand slam for the home team.

August 27 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 4-3. The Pigs scored 4 in the first off of Hamels. The Weevils countered with a 3-spot in the 2nd... and neither team scored again. Pedro Strop was the surprising choice for the save. In the 9th inning, Matt Olson had a bat in his hands in the dugout, and Sean Doolittle was warm in the Pigpen, but neither made an appearance.

August 28 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 7-3. Aaron Judge, who had as quiet a series as is possible, doubled home the go ahead run in the 7th. Mauer and Seager each had 3 hits and Tommy Pham homered for the Pigs.

August 29 @ The BallPork - Warpigs win 2-1. The game was scoreless at the 7th inning stretch, but Corey Seager hit a 2-run double and the Pigpen somehow managed to hang on.

Manuel Margot Moves to Mansfield

All Manuel Margot, the young leadoff hitter for the Padres, wanted for Christmas was a team that wanted him. Enter the Buckeyes, who obtained the center fielder and pick 151 from the Weevils for pick 111.
Interestingly, when I chose this picture to accompany the post, the automatic title for it when I clicked save photo was "cut."

The Bohl Weevils Make Their First Trade

The Weevil cherry is broken.

In what basically amounts to a cut for a cut, the Bohl Weevils trade Steve Cishek to the Warpigs for pick 132.
