Gm3 - Warpigs win 6-2. deGrom had a 1-hit shutout through 6 when he departed. Beltre homered. Lots of NetPlay glitches in this one.

Gm4 - Wahoos win 5-1. First of four at The Reservation. K.Davis homered, but Arrieta was the star.

Gm5 - Warpigs win 11-3. Corey Seager went 4-6 with 3 homers and 5 RBI.

Gm6 - Warpigs win 17-10. David Freese makes a rare start vs a RHP and goes 4-4 with 2 homers and 6 RBI. K.Davis hit a grand slam for the Hoos.

Gm7 - Warpigs win 10-3. Wainwright with a complete game. Pham hit 2 homers and drove in 4.

Weevils 3, Wahoos 2

Big news is the complete game shutout that Jake Arrieta threw. In a home game. Yeah, imagine that. Wahoos also won in a walkoff in game 5. 

The Weevils are now only 1 game in back of the Buckeyes in the MFD.

game 1 @ Weevils: Greinke goes 7IP allowing only 2 hits. 4 HR from the lineup powers a 9-1 victory

game 2 @ Weevils: Bundy is tagged for 8 ER on 3 Nads homers in the 9-3 loss. It's a Nad explosion!

game 3 @ Weevils: 7 solid innings from Hamels, with HR by Machado and McCutchen lead to a 6-2 Weevil win

game 4 @ the Ball Sack: Scherzer goes 8IP, with 8K and only 1 hit in the 1-0 duel

game 5 @ the Sack: Greinke likes pitching in KC again, going 7 innings and only surrendering 3 hits. Weevils win 7-2.

game 6 @ Weevils: Hamels goes 7IP allowing only 5 hits. Weevils rumble out 5 2B to keep everyone moving, winning 12-6

game 7 @ Weevils: Kluber Ks 14 Nads.....but allows 13 hits, taking the 9-4 loss.

game 8 @ the Sack: Kluber holds up better this time, K-ing 8 Nads. Weevils win 5-2

game 9 @ the Sack: Scherzer Ks 10, allowing only 2 hits. HR by Goldschmidt and McCutchen lead the Weevils to a 6-1 victory

Inmates 9, Nads 5

Inmates 9 – Nads 5 (via netplay)

Nads 4 – Inmates 3 (Ball Sack): The LDMF lost their fifth straight game in semi-dramatic fashion to the Testicularly Non-challenged. Dozier hit the first Inmate pitch of the game into orbit, and then Brad “No Taters Allowed In 2017” Morrow allowed a pair of jacks, including a walk-off by Morrison in the bottom of the 9^th. Morrow earned the well-deserved loss and blown save.

Nads 3 – Inmates 1 (Ball Sack): The LDMF continued their unwelcome appearance as only a Rizzo solo homer in the 2^nd prevented a shutout. Bradley continued his self-immolation technique by entering a tie game in the 7^th and allowing two runs on a hit a three walks. Chacin held the Beakless Wonders to four hits over eight and two-thirds for the win as the Inmate losing streak reached six.

Inmates 7 – Nads 2 (Ball Sack): Despite starter Salazar being incapable of lasting through the 5^th, everything else went the Inmate way. Altuve and Rosario tatered; Ramos pitched three innings for the win.

Inmates 6 – Nads 3 (Ball Sack): Another By-The-Book victory for the Beakless Chicken Gang, although the Nads managed to have the tying run at bat in the last of the 9^th. Hand earned the save; Dickey the loss.

Nads 5 – Inmates 1 (Baptist Bowl): The Inmates’ bats went flaccid against Brent Stroman, picking only four hits and one run on a solo homer by Martinez in the 9^th. The Nads left ten on base, preventing a blow-out.

Nads 4 – Inmates 2 (Baptist Bowl): Martinez and Altuve hit solo homers for the LDMF, but Kole Calhoun hit a pair and drove in three runs as the Nads continued to have their way over the Inmates. Chacin and three relievers allowed only three Inmate hits.

Inmates 5 – Nads 3 (Baptist Bowl): A tight game, with a two-run single in the 5^th by Martinez providing the ultimate winning run. Barnhart blasted a two-run moon-shot in the 9^th to get things close, but the Nads ran out of gas.

Inmates 4 – Nads 2 (Ball Sack): Another nail-biter, another Inmate win. Ramos, Hand and Madson shut the Nads down to hang on to the lead and the victory.

Inmates 5 – Nads 4 (Ball Sack): Still another hard-fought victory for the Inmates. Heading into the 9^th nursing a 4-3 lead, the Nad bullpen combusted, allowing a two-run single to Altuve to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. Frazier and Morrison homered in a losing effort.

Inmates 7 – Nads 1 (Ball Sack): The Nads held a 1-0 lead until the spam hit the fan in the 6^th. Martinez hit a two-run blast to highlight the inning, followed immediately by a solo tater by Nunez. Four more runs scored in the 7^th, and Quintana and Ramos held the Nads to just two hits.

Inmates 7 – Nads 6 (Baptist Bowl): A seemingly safe 7-1 lead almost evaporated as the Nads stormed back to force Green in for the save. Inciarte, Rosario, Rizzo and Castro all homered for the Inmates. Chacin pitched a complete game for the loss, saving the Nad bullpen.

Inmates 4 – Nads 3 (Baptist Bowl): Brad Hand gave up a 9^th inning homer to Broxton but held on for the save as the Inmates and Nads played yet another close game. Weaver K’d twelve and earned the win.

Inmates 5 – Nads 3 (Baptist Bowl): For the second time in the series Dozier hit the first Inmate pitch out of the ballpark, but a pair of taters by Bregman led the Inmate to their seventh win in a row. Frazier also homered in the Nad 1^st, but the denizens of the Ball Sack were unable to score again until the 9^th.

Nads 9 – Inmates 5 (Baptist Bowl): The Nads blasted Wood for seven runs in the first two innings, including homers by Dozier (once again on the first Inmate pitch of the game), Frazier and Calhoun. Garcia allowed four homers to the Inmates (Martinez twice, Bregman again, and Ramos), but all of the Inmate spuds were solo shots. Salazar pitched five innings of two-hit relief for the Inmates, but it was already too late.

Tweeners 6, Nads 1

Netplay, with only a couple of freeze/restarts.  Nads have obviously done something in this or a former life to piss off the X-chart gods.

4/28 - Tweeners 17, Nads 3.  Kevin Pillar blasted Jaime Garcia's first pitch out of the Ball Sack (the first of his 2 homers), creating virtually unstoppable momentum for the Tweeners. Garcia was touched for 15 earned in 5.1. Arenado 4/5, HR, 3 rbi, Cozart 5 rbi, etc., etc.  W - Ray,, 3 inning save for Treinen. 

4/29 - Tweeners 8, Nads 4.  2 more taters and 5 rbi for Arenado.  Schebler hit a 3-run shot. Logan Morrison homered for the Nads.  W - Nova, L - Stroman.

Next 5 in the Hooverdome.

6/20 - Tweeners 7, Nads 4.  2 homers by Barnhart and 1 by Morrison were not enough for the Nads, sabotaged by 2 Morrison errors.  Henry Mancini III led the Tweeners offense with 2 HR and 4 rbi.  W - Anderson, S - Minor.  Stroman took another loss.

6/21 - Tweeners 4, Nads 1.  Charlie Morton took a no-hitter into the 6th, but Chacin was nearly as good, and it was tied at 1 when Arenado hit a 3-run walkoff.  Rosenthal gains the win in relief, Chacin gets the CG loss.

6/22 - Nads 5, Tweeners 3.  Nads break the spell behind a strong outing from Urena.  Almora had a 3-run first inning homer off MadBum and later tripled to drive in another.  Tweeners had the tying run at the plate in the 9th, but Kintzler saved it for Urena.

9/3 - Tweeners 12, Nads 11.  One crazy game.  Tweeners roared out to a "comfortable" 7-0 lead after 2 innings, only to see the Nads score 8 straight.  Tweeners then scored 5 in the 8th, and when Morrison hit a 3-run homer in the 9th everyone had to check their math to confirm that the Tweeners indeed had the most runs.  15 different players drove in runs, headed by Schoop's 4 rbi.  W - Petit, S - Rosenthal, L - Rondon.

9/4 - Tweeners 4, Nads 0.  MadBum threw 8 shutout innings, and was nearly matched by Stroman, but in the bottom of the 8th the game-winning rbi (is that still a stat?) came on a pinch-hit omega by Jorge Polanco, which further extended the inning for Mancini to hit a 3-run insurance homer.  Joe Smith finished up the combined shutout.

Buckeyes 3, DVs 2

Buckeyes take 3 of 5 via Net Play at the DV's. No technical issues!

Oh, there were a few technical issues- mainly how every one of my starters (except Hendriks) got hacked while having their hard drive formatted by the Buckeye hitters.

To wit – DVs throw a combined shutout in game 1, then surrender 7, 10, 8 and 9 runs- with the last game being a 12-9 DV win where the official scorer declined to give Stephen Strasburg a “win” as his 5 inning, 8 run gag fest hardly qualified as anything resembling a win.

DVs 4 – Inmates 0 (via netplay)

DVs 10 – Inmates 5 (Trump Towers): Both teams hit four homers, but all the Inmate taters were solo shots; all the DV taters had men on. DVs out-hit the Inmates 12-11, but the game was never close.

DVs 5 – LDMF 0 (Trump Towers): Pouting because of their lack of clutch hitting in the series opener, the LDMF put away their bats and sucked. Strasburg pitched seven shutout innings, while Stanton and MooseTacos both hit two-run homers.

DVs 12 – Inmates 6 (Baptist Bowl): For the third straight game the DVs jumped out to a lead in the 1^st, but the Inmates managed to gain a 5-1 lead after four. Then all shit hit the fan. Both teams had thirteen hits; both teams had two homers. That’s where the similarity ended. Once again, both Inmate homers were solo shots (Altuve, Rosario), while both of Bogaerts’ taters had men on. The Inmates hit into four double-plays; the DVs none. Bradley came in to keep the deficit to one run, but got torched for five runs in 1/3 of an inning. Shitfuck.

DVs 10 – Inmates 5 (Baptist Bowl): Inciarte and Santana hit solo homers for the Inmates, while Stanton (slammer), Castillo and Owings tatered with men on. The Inmates outhit the DVs 13-10, but couldn’t score. Bradley came in once again to keep the game close and once again was torched, this time for four runs in 1/3 inning. For the series, Bradley allowed nine runs (eight earned) on six hits, two homers and two walks, in 2/3 inning. Stellar 108.00 ERA.

Inmates 5 – Buckeyes 5 (via netplay)

THE KURSE OF KIERMAEIR

Very evenly played series, though the Buckeyes cheated by allowing Kiermaier to play even after he was declared “assassinated” by the umpires.

Inmates 2 – Buckeyes 1 (Baptist Bowl): A pitcher’s duel. Rizzo hit a solo homer in the 1^st, and Inciarte scored on a groundout by Rosario to end the scoring for the game. Wood earned the win; Green picked up the save.

Buckeyes 6 – Inmates 5 (Baptist Bowl): A see-saw game that came down to the last of the 9^th. With two outs and Altuve on second, Rizzo missed a 1-14 homer chance to end the game. Parker picked up the win.

Buckeyes 6 – Inmates 4 (14 innings – Baptist Bowl): Kiermaier hit two taters on HR 1/something else 2-20 and drove in five runs, including the eventual game-winning two-run jack in the 14^th. The Inmates sent the game into extra-innings in the 9^th when Inciarte squeezed home a run with the bases loaded to tie things at 4-4 (never mind the LDMF showed up and couldn’t score any more). Hernandez picked up the win; Kiermaier was tarred and feathered by the Baptist Bowl Choralaires, while everyone else tried to figure out what in hell HAL was doing.

Inmates 5 – Buckeyes 3 (BuckeyeDome): Kiermaier hit ANOTHER homer, and was then HBP-plus-fatality. Nonetheless, Clevenger tossed a no-hitter into the 7^th and the Beakless Chicken Gang held on for the win.

Buckeyes 5 – Inmates 2 (BuckeyeDome): Manaea pitched a complete game six-hitter, but three of the hits are still orbiting the earth. Cespedes tatered for the Good Guys to account for both Inmate runs. Cruz, Kinsler, and Turner supplied the Buckeyes’ power.

Inmates 6 – Buckeyes 3 (Baptist Bowl): A five-run Inmate 1^st was enough for the victory, despite the Buckeyes’ refusing to quit. A rarity: Rizzo was HBP three times.

Inmates 3 – Buckeyes 2 (Baptist Bowl): Despite HAL’s relationship with Kiermaier (who homered still again), the pitching staffs showed off in another duel. Clevinger earned the win while Green picked up another save.

Buckeyes 8 – Inmates 4 (BuckeyeDome): Allen Wood allowed three homers, including a grand salami by Justin Turner, and the Buckeyes broke out their hitting shoes to club the Inmates. Rosario and Martinez homered for the BCG, but it wasn’t enough.

Buckeyes 8 – Inmates 4 (BuckeyeDome): Enrique Hernandez (!?) jacked two taters and the game wasn’t as close as the score indicated. Santana earned the win; Manaea took the loss.

Inmates 6 – Buckeyes 2 (BuckeyeDome): Four Inmates homered and Gray pitched into the 7^th to lead the Inmates. With the split of ten games, both the Inmates and Buckeyes decided that they’d rather not play each other in the playoffs.

May 2 - Buckeyes 6 DVs 5 - David Hernandez throws 2 1/3 scoreless relief. Kiemaeir and Galvis both homer.

July 26 - Buckeyes 9 DVs 8 (10 Innings) - Justin Turner with a 2 out ninth inning homer to send it to extras. Santana, Margot and Hernandez all homer as well.

July 27 - Buckeyes 6 DVs 5 - Third straight one run game. Vincent and Hernandez combine for 4 1/3 scoreless relief. Cruz, Joyce, and Bour all homer.

July 28 - Buckeyes 4 DVs 0 - Santana and Otero combine for 4 hit shutout. Turner's 3 run homer the big blow.

Rhinos 6, DVs 4

For all the great statisticians out there – here is a quiz:

Over a 10 game series, one team hit .300, outhomered their opponent by 8 and had an ERA of 3.29; while the other team hit .224 with a team ERA of 6.65- what would you guess the series results were ???

Well the DVs were the second team and ended up actually winning 4 of the 10, with the Rhinos having only 6 wins to show for their overall domination and beatdown of the hapless DVs. The capstone was game 9, when the Rhinos hit 8 homers while winning 21-2 after scoring 8 in the second inning off alleged DV ace Stephen Strasburg.

First 3 games at the Rhino Reserve.

August 12 - Warpigs win 10-3. Aaron Judge hit a 3-run homer in the first inning and a grand slam in the second inning. Adrian Beltre added a 2-run homer later, but the damage was done. Kris Bryant homered for the home team.

August 13 - Warpigs win 6-3. Judge hit two more homers, driving in 4.

August 14 - Warpigs win 8-4. Yes, Aaron Judge hit two MORE homers. He also doubled on a HR 1-9 split roll (he rolled 10). He went 4-5 with 4 rbi. Adam Duvall homered twice for the Rhinos.

Last 2 games at The BallPork.

September 10 - Rhinos win 9-6. The Rhinos were rolling angry. Having lost 8 straight to the Warpigs this season, they got mad and took it out on Jacob deGrom. Six different Rhinos homered - 5 of them before deGrom could exit the field. The Pigs tried to make it interesting when, with almost all the starters having already exited, the subs scored 4 in the bottom of the 9th. Jose Pirela pinch hit a 3-run triple. Oh, and Judge homered again, giving him 7 in 4 games and 43 in 97 games.

September 11 - Warpigs win 3-2 in 16 innings. For the second time this season, the Pigs and Rhinos take 16 innings to decide a game. Earlier this year, the Pigs won a 1-0 game in 16. With Gerritt Cole in control and the Pigs using up more valuable Pigpen innings, the two teams traded out after out after out. In the top of the 16th, Teoscar Hernandez went deep, giving the Rhinos a 2-1 lead. With an extremely tired Cole still on the mound, the Pigs started the inning with two quick outs, bringing up Aaron Judge. Visibly trembling on the mound, both out of fear and the fact that he had thrown 273 pitches, Cole walked Judge. The roll was 1-7; both 1-8 & 1-9 were homers. The steady and reliable Joe Mauer was due, but steady and reliable gave way to someone with N-power just in case we finally rolled 6-9. Jeremy Hazelbaker was called on. He rolled 6-9. Two run, walk off homer. Pigs win! Pigs win! Pigs win! Cole officially went 15.2 innings in the complete game loss, allowing 10 hits and 10 walks while striking out 13.

Also, for the record, the Pigs have, in 98 games, played 10 extra inning games, including games of 15-innings, 16-innings (twice), and 25-innings. Save the Pigs for the end of the season and you might get yourself a forfeit or two. Or even better, a mandatory complete game from Adam Wainwright.

July 20 at the Reserve:

Dan Straily went 6 strong innings at The Rhino Reserve where the Waxahachie

Fungoes beat the McDale Rhinos in 10 innings by the score of 1 to 0.This one was a scoreless tie after nine.  Finally, Waxahachie pulled the gameout in the 10th inning.  Salvador Perez drew a walk.  Mondesi pinch ran and stolesecond base.  Mondesi was a wild man on the base paths as he quickly stole third base. 

Francisco Lindor came up and he worked the squeeze play to perfectionscoring the run.  Waxahachie had only 3 hits for the game. The victory went to Dominic Leone(2-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing noruns. Leone got help from David Robertson who was credited with his 26thsave.  Chris Devenski(2-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.

 

July 21 at the Reserve:

Left fielder Cody Bellinger went yard as the McDale Rhinos beat the Waxahachie

Fungoes by a score of 3 to 1.

Waxahachie found themselves trailing quickly as the McDale bats came through

in the first inning plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits.  McDale

had only 5 hits for the night. 

The victory was credited to Kevin Gausman, who went 6 and 2/3 innings,

allowing 1 run. Tanner Roark recorded the save, his 7th.  Joe Musgrove(2-5)

was tagged with the loss.  

July 22 at the Reserve:

At The Rhino Reserve the Waxahachie Fungoes offense put up 6 runs on the

scoreboard in the 4th inning and outscored the McDale Rhinos in 12 innings 10

to 7.
Both teams had scored 7 runs after nine full innings.  Waxahachie came out the
victor in the 12th inning.  After an out was recorded, Eric Hosmer opened up
the rally as he smacked a single.  Mike Trout next to the plate and he banged
out a single.  Mookie Betts then hit a deep fly bringing in a run.  Salvador
Perez came up and he popped a two-run clout over the fence.  McDale out-hit
Waxahachie 14 to 11, but Waxahachie ended up with more runs.
Pedro Baez(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no
runs. Baez got help from David Robertson who earned his 27th save.  Tanner
Roark took the loss in relief. 

September 6 at WTF:

Kevin Gausman had an impressive outing and Wil Myers hit 2 doubles and had 2

RBI at WTF Field where the McDale Rhinos beat the Waxahachie Fungoes 9 to

1.  

Waxahachie fell behind quickly as the McDale offense came through in the first

inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits.  That early run support was

enough for Gausman(5-4) and McDale.  McDale had a total of 8 hits for the

game. 

The losing pitcher was Clayton Kershaw(6-5).  'I thought it was my best

performance in a long time,' said Gausman. 'I had good command early in the

game. I had my control and composure and everything went well.'

September 7 at WTF:

The Waxahachie Fungoes and the McDale Rhinos locked up in an exciting one-run

game at WTF Field.  The final score was the Waxahachie Fungoes 2, the McDale

Rhinos 1 in 10 innings.

Both teams had scored 1 run after nine full innings.  Waxahachie won it in

the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Gregory Polanco ripped a solo

home run giving Waxahachie the win as 47,393 happy fans joyfully celebrated.

McDale had 6 hits in the game while Waxahachie had 2, but Waxahachie had the

more timely hits. 

Josh Hader(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no

runs. Arodys Vizcaino(0-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He pitched 1

inning and surrendered 1 hit and no walks.

September 8 at WTF:

Matt Carpenter hit 2 doubles as the Waxahachie Fungoes beat the McDale Rhinos

by a score of 4 to 3.

McDale lost it in the 8th inning when Waxahachie did all their damage scoring

4 runners on 3 hits.  The key at-bat was by Mookie Betts who elicited a roar

from the hometown fans when he electrified the crowd with a Grand Slam home

run.  McDale had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

Pedro Baez(3-1) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Tanner

Roark was hit with the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 1 hit

in 1/3 of an inning. 

September 9 at WTF:
In a one-sided affiar at WTF Field the final score was the McDale Rhinos 8,
the Waxahachie Fungoes 2.
Willson Contreras enjoyed a fine evening at the plate.  He belted a three-run
homer in the 2nd inning and doubled scoring a run in the 5th inning.  For the
game McDale out-hit Waxahachie 10 to 4.
The victory was credited to Aaron Nola(7-3) who went 8 innings, allowing 2
runs. The losing pitcher was Matt Harvey(1-2).  He allowed 8 runs and 10 hits
in 9 innings. 

Fungoes are now 43-43.

May 27 (Game 1 of the doubleheader) - Warpigs win 5-0. Luis Severino (8-5) tossed a complete game 1-hitter, striking out 11 in the shutout. Aaron Judge hit his 31st homer.

May 27 (Game 2) - Warpigs win 12-4. Jeremy Hazelbaker had a pinch hit, 2-run single, and Jose Pirela had a pinch hit, 3-run double. Tommy Pham went 3-5 with a homer. Jacob deGrom (9-3) went 5 innings to get the win.

May 28 - Warpigs win 5-2. Aaron Judge hit 2 homers and knocked in 3. D.J. Lemahieu drove in the other 2 runs. Rich Hill (3-7) earned the win. Raisel Iglesias got the final out for his 3rd save.

May 29 - FFTs win 7-4. Steven Souza, Miguel Cabrera, and Evan Longoria went deep for the visitors. Pham hit one for the Pigs. The FFTs led 6-0 before the Pigs mounted a minor comeback. The Pigs mounting something from behind is not unheard of.

Next four at The Grove

July 16 - FFTs win 3-2. Chris Taylor went 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Jeff Smardzija held the Pig bats down. Jake Lamb homered to lead off the 9th and get the Pigs within 1, but three FFT relievers came on for a third of an inning each, with Jake McGee earning the save by striking out Jose Pirela.

July 17 - Warpigs win 8-4 in 15 innings. In a bizarre game, the teams were tied 4-4 after the top of the 3rd. Then, for the next 11 and a half innings, no one scored. There were plenty of opportunities, though. The Warpigs made a team record 6 errors in the game, including 2 by the 2e14 shortstop on back to back batters, a 2-base error by the 2e1 in LF, and the rare SINGLE and ERROR by the 1e3 at 1b. In the bottom of the 13th, for example, the FFT inning went like this: out, walk, error, error (to load the bases), line out DP. The Pigs finally came thru in the 15th, with Joe Mauer and Jose Pirela both hitting 2-run homers. Kenta Maeda went 14.1 innings for the FFTs, striking out 18, but took the loss. Judge homered in his first two at bats, going 4-6. Pham also homered for the Pigs, and Souza hit another one for the FFTs.

July 18 - FFTs win 8-5. Souza homered twice more, driving in 5. The home team trailed 4-2 in the 6th, but then scored 1 in the 6th before putting a 5-spot on the board in the 7th. Yasiel Puig also homered for the FFTs. Joe Mauer hit one for the Pigs. Both Puig and Mauer had 3-hit days, as did Warpig Adrian Beltre.

July 19 - Warpigs win 4-2. Rich Hill (4-7) went 7 strong innings, striking out 10. Judge hit another long ball. Sean Doolittle earned the save.

September 12 - Warpigs win 3-2. Aaron Judge broke a 2-2 tie in the 8th inning with a run-scoring single. Jake Odorizzi (8-5) outdueled Trevor Williams, allowing only 4 hits over 8 innings. Jose Peraza homered for the FFTs. Ezequiel Carrera led off the 1st with a solo shot for the Pigs. Doolittle got another save.

September 13 - Warpigs win 6-3. Jeremy Hazelbaker tripled in 2 runs, and Christian Yelich tacked on a 2-run homer late in the game to salt away the victory. Danny Duffy (5-5) did just enough to earn the win. Souza hit yet another bomb for the FFTs.

September 14 - FFTs win 2-0. Kenta Maeda tossed a complete game, 4-hit shutout, walking only 1 and striking out 9. Steven Souza hit his 6th home run in the last 8 games to account for all the scoring. Note of interest... Ichiro Suzuki led off the game with a single and was immediately replaced with a pinch runner to a long standing ovation from the appreciative BallPork patrons. This was Ichiro's final appearance, having already announced his retirement. He spent all 17 of his NASOMA years with the FFTs, who took him as an uncarded player in 2001.

The FFTs complete their season, going 83-79.

Warpigs 6, Nads 4

Game 1 - Nads win 5-0. R.A. Dickey with the shutout. Starlin Castro homered.

Game 2 - Warpigs win 1-0. Aaron Judge singles in a 1st inning run and Adam Wainwright does the rest, earning a rare shutout.

Game 3 - Warpigs win 5-2. Jacob deGrom gets the win. Joe Mauer had 3 hits, scored 2, and drove in 2.

Game 4 - Nads win 4-0. Another shutout, this one by Jose Urena and five Nad relievers.

Game 5 - Warpigs win 6-1. A Tommy Pham 3-run homer helped Waino to another win.

Game 6 - Warpigs win 4-2. The Pigs scored 4 in the 4th, thanks in part to a 2-run shot from Christian Yelich. Jacob deGrom threw 8 shutout innings before calling it a day.

Game 7 - Warpigs win 6-2. Roberto Perez hit a 2nd inning Grand Slam.

Game 8 - Nads win 5-3. The Nads scored 3 runs in the 9th inning for the come from behind win.

Game 9 - Warpigs win 6-5 in 25 innings. Yep, that's not a typo. 25 innings. A new league record for the longest game, and it was epic. Actually, it was mostly epic failure. The Nads and Pigs traded leads early, but finished the 9th tied at 3. The Nads scored a run in the 12th on a walk, a "runner held" single, and a sac fly. But the Warpigs tied it in the bottom of the inning when pinch hitter Jeremy Hazelbaker doubled with 2 out to score Joe Mauer. Many many outs later, Jose Ramirez led off the 25th inning with a solo homer to put the Nads back up. In the bottom of the 25th, Roberto Perez singled and Christian Yelich followed with a double (just missing the walkoff homer roll). With Pham due up and nobody out, the Nads turned to Jhoulys Chacin (despite his SP-only status). Looking back on it now, maybe the Nads intended to bring in Urena, who was still available. Anyway, Chacin strikes out Pham, but Ezequiel Carrerra dumps a single into left-center to score both runners and end the game, sending the remaining 14 fans home happy.

Notables from the game...

• The Nads had 20 hits in 92 official at bats. They struck out 26 times and left 24 men on base. The ABs, the Ks, and the LOB are most likely all NASOMA records. Besides Stroman's 8 innings of work to start the game, Brandon McCarthy tossed 6.1 no hit innings, and Joe Biagini followed him with 6 innings of 2-hit shutout ball. The two of them combined for 12.1 straight innings of 2-hit shutout ball before Brandon Kintzler was aroused from a deep sleep and promptly shat the bed.
• The Warpigs only managed 10 hits in their 25 innings, with Corey Seager (0-10), Pham (0-8), Lemahieu (1-9), and Judge (1-8) all deciding to suck at the same time. The Pigs used 7 different batters in the 5-hole during the game, including 3 SPs to pinch bunt. The other 4 all played 3b, with Jose Pirela ready to make it 5 third basemen - but he never got into the game. Severino threw the first 7 innings, but of the 7 relievers, Adam Warren threw 5, and Ryan Buchter - the star of the game and the last pitcher available - threw the final 7.1, the last two tired, to earn the much deserved win.
• The BallPork in Hooterville has no lights, but some of the players pulled their cars around to shine a little light on the field. There were a lot of dead car batteries after the game.
• Innings 16 thru 22 were played despite a torrential downpour, with neither team refusing to postpone. It's okay, though. We really needed the rain.

Game 10 - Nads win 4-0. The third Nad shutout of the day was fairly anti-climactic after the marathon, except for the fact that the guy throwing the shutout (Chacin) had just blown a save the day before. Another NASOMA first.

Weevils 5, Wahoos 0

Spread over a couple nights. 4 of the 5 were whippings. The other game the Wahoos lost in extra innings.

Inmates 6 – Weevils 4 (10 innings - BabyArm Park): Let’s see, 4-1 lead, last of the 9^th, the Inmates have Green on the hill. No worries, right? Uh-huh. A Dickerson three-run homer later and the game goes into extra-innings. Rizzo hit a two-run shot in the 10^th that held up for the win, but the rest of the series was about the same way.

Weevils 5 – LDMF 0 (BabyArm Park): Scherzer and company dominated the LDMF, allowing just three hits, as the Weevil pitching staff owned the game. Simmons and McCutcheon tatered for the Weevils.

Weevils 3 – LDMF 2 (Baptist Bowl): Scherzer fanned 14 in seven innings, totally shutting down the continued presence of the LDMF on three hits. Goldschmidt homered for the winners. Scherzer sucks.

Inmates 5 – Weevils 1 (Baptist Bowl): Cespedes and Santana both homered in the 8^th to break up a 1-1 tie for the Inmate victory. The Weevils managed just two hits off of Quintana through six before the bullpen closed things down.

Weevils 7 – Inmates 5 (12 innings – Baptist Bowl): Chad Green, continuing his self-immolating ways, allowed a 9^th inning game-tying homer to Hoskins (his second of the game) to allow the Weevils to take the game into extra innings. The Inmate offense totally shut down, while Goldschmidt crushed a two-run spud off of Morrow in the 12^th for the game-winner.

Inmates 12 – Weevils 2 (BabyArm Park): A two-run tater by Goldschmidt in the 1^st was all Salazar allowed as the Inmate bats pounded Scherzer for the only lopsided win of the day. Salazar struck out 17 in a complete game effort; Shaw homered twice for the Inmates. Scherzer deserved this.

Weevils 5 – Inmates 3 (BabyArm Park): Madson allowed two runs on three hits, including a homer, as the Weevils came from behind to kick the Beakless Chicken Gang. Giles earned the save; Greinke the win.

Inmates 9 – Weevils 7 (BabyArm Park): Another seesaw game, with the winning run scoring for the Inmates in a five-run 7^th (after the Weevils had scored four in the 6^th). The Inmate bullpen stopped most of the bleeding after Morrow allowed his second homer of the series (he allowed 0 during the 2017 season).

Inmates 12 – Weevils 9 (Baptist Bowl): The teams combined for seven homers on the day, including a pinch grand salami by Olson in the Weevil 7^th to close the Inmate lead to 9-8. Hoskins hit a pair of homers, Bregman hit a pair of homers and drove home five runs, and the wild and wooly series continued. Wood took the win despite allowing eight hits in 5 2/3.

Inmates 2 – Weevils 1 (Baptist Bowl): Kluber K’d 13 Inmates, but a two-run single by Altuve in the 3^rd stood up for the Beakless Chicken Gang. The Weevils made it interesting in the 9^th vs Green but Hoskins fanned to end the game.

Wahoos 2, Warpigs 2

Game 1 - Wahoos win 8-2. Severino gets blasted for 7 runs in 3 innings. Homers by K.Seager, Gallo, Wieters, and Pedroia for the Hoos. Judge hits one for the Warpigs. Mengden gets the win.

Game 2 - Warpigs win 7-4. Four more homers by the Hoos (all solo shots) by N.Williams, K.Davis, Ozuna, and K.Seager (again). Judge hits another for the Pigs. But the star of the game was little used David Freese. Making a rare start vs a RHP, Freese went 3-3 with 2 homers and a walk. Jacob deGrom went a quick 7 for the win, with the bullpen just barely avoiding implosion for the last two.

Game 3 - Wahoos win 8-6. The Wahoos hit ANOTHER four homers (Rupp, K.Seager (fuck him) and N.Williams, who hit 2). The 8-1 early lead resulted in the Warpigs pulling some guys for rest. And, of course, THEN we have a 5-run inning to make it interesting. Jacob deGrom, who entered as an AB-saving DH, led the way, going 2-2 with an RBI. But thanks to some crappy hitting with runners on, the rally fell short.

Game 4 - Warpigs win 4-3. Let me just tell you, Kyle Seager is a bitch. He homered for the 4th straight game, going 3-5 off of Danny Duffy, who (supposedly) allows NOTHING to left-handed batters. Tell that to Seager, though, who was just showing little brother how it's done. Little brother did nothing except striking out three times, grounding into a double play, and continuously letting ground balls roll past him untouched. Somehow, though, the Warpigs, thanks to a 2-run shot from Yelich, evened up the series. Duffy got the win; Doolittle the save.
