Game 1 - Warpigs win 8-2. Yoenis Cespedes goes 4-4 to lead the Pig offense. Zack Wheeler gets an early hook (because he sucks), and Casey Fien is awarded the win in relief. Jon Niese takes the loss.
Game 2 - Zaps win 9-1. The Zaps had 13 hits: a homer (by Russell Martin) and 12 singles. They also walked 9 times. News flash: Max Scherzer is pretty good. Wily Peralta is not. Here's an interesting look at a pitcher's progression thru the Zap batting order.
- Peralta's 1st time thru the lineup: Zap hitters go 0-8 with 1 walk. They can't figure him out.
- Peralta's 2nd time thru the lineup: Zap hitters go 5-8 with a homer and 1 walk. They figured him out.
- Peralta's 3rd time thru the lineup: Zap hitters go 1-3 with FOUR walks. Wily learns his lesson and stops throwing strikes.
Game 4 - Zaps win 3-2. Wheeler had his best game of the year, going 8 innings and giving up only 6 hits and a walk. But another Zack - Greinke - outpitched him and won the game.
Game 5 - Warpigs win 13-3. Francisco Liriano took one for the team, going the distance but allowing 13 hits. Adam Wainwright (9-3) went 5 innings to get the win. Milone threw the last 3 for his first save. Cody Ross and Cespedes both homered for the Pigs. And as this was the first day of full rosters, Nick Castellanos made his MLB debut with a pinch-hit, RBI single.
