All games played at The BallPork via NetPlay (which, by the way, went off without a hitch).
Game 1 - DVs win 6-4. The DVs start a 4-game stretch of hitting EVERY SINGLE CHANCE OF 1-7 OR LESS. NEVER MISSED ONE. I SHIT YOU NOT. Each team hit 3 homers, with the DVs getting the long ball from Matt Holliday, Mike Moustakas, and Ian Kinsler; and the Pigs getting a homer from Yadier Molina and two from Yoenis Cespedes, who didn't even enter the game until the 7th inning. Andrew Cashner went 6 innings for the win, easily outdueling Steven Strasburg (2-2).
Game 2 - Warpigs win 6-4. The DVs picked right up where they left off with two homers off of Jose Fernandez in the first two innings to go up 4-1, but a rare Pig offensive explosion in the bottom of the 2nd gave the good guys the lead for good. Austin Jackson did the honors with a 2-out, 3-run homer off of Jered Weaver. D.J. Lemahieu added an insurance homer in the 7th. Fernandez (5-1) got last inning help from Casey Fien, who induced a double play from the only batter he faced - pinch hitter Ramiro Pena - to end the game.
Game 3 - DVs win 1-0. Mat Latos, who can't possibly be this good, took a perfect game into the 5th and a no-hitter into the 7th. He allowed only a solid double to Yadier Molina in the complete game shutout. For the Warpigs, Adam Wainwright was busy throwing a different kind of shutout. When J.J. Hardy homered in the 7th (on a BP 1-4 roll!), it was the 10th hit for the DVs, but the first (and only) run. An example of Wainwright's night: With the game still scoreless in the 5th inning, Ian Kinsler led off with a ballpark single (1-2, of course). Hardy was called on to bunt him over, and beat it out for a hit. So now Leonys Martin tried to bunt, and he ALSO beat it out for a hit, loading the bases with no outs. Wainwright then strikes out both Allen Craig and Justin Morneau before getting Matt Holliday to pop up to end the inning. It was that kind of night.
Game 4 - Warpigs win 4-3. Coming into this game, Pig starter Wily Peralta had made 5 starts, going 0-5, and had had 7 total runs scored behind him. So when Michael Bourn tripled and scored in the first, Peralta was pretty pumped. So much so, that he flirted with a no-hitter/perfect game of his own for a few innings. J.J. Hardy, the 17th batter Peralta faced ended the quest for perfection with another home run (HR 1-7, fly). And when Justin Morneau clubbed a 2-run shot the following inning, the DVs had tied the game at 3 and put Peralta's bid for his first win in jeopardy. But a rare homer by Alejandro De Aza in the bottom of the 7th reclaimed the lead for the Pigs. Michael Wacha got the last out for his first ever save.
