Probable Cuts
If you already know certain players who won't make your team, email me their names and I will move them to the bottom of the spreadsheet. I won't delete them yet, but it will separate them from your keepers, making it easier for everyone to see your roster. I've already done it for mine. Click here to see.
Uncarded Players
I changed the roster page. The highlighted players HAD been players who had been traded. The highlights now represent players without cards. You'll need a reserve pick for each of these you keep. Please check your roster and let me know of anyone I have overlooked.

You're the One!
As far as I can tell, there were 49 1's given this year (pitchers excluded). That's 44 different players, 40 of whom are already on teams in NASOMA. Mike Trout of the Fungoes and Ben Revere of the Nads received 1's in all three outfield spots. Hard to believe that the Drillers got a 1 at 3b and it WASN'T Longoria. Ditto with the Rhinos at ss (it wasn't Tulo) and cf (not Kemp).
This is how they break down...
Warpigs (7) - c, 1b, 2b, ss(2), cf(2)
Inmates (5) - 1b, 2b, 3b, lf, cf
Rhinos (5) - 1b, 2b, ss, lf, cf
Mavs (4) - 1b, ss, cf, rf
Drillers (3) - 3b, cf, rf
FFTs (2) - c, ss
Fungoes (2) - c, of
Nads (2) - 1b, of
Sidewinders (2) - 2b, cf
Wahoos (2) - 2b, rf
Goofs (2) - 2b, rf
Bees (2) - lf, cf
DVs (1) - ss
Zaps (1) - cf
Tweeners and Buckeyes did not have any 1's.
There were 4 players receiving 1's who will be in the draft:
Adam LaRoche, 1b
Freddy Galvis, 2b
Andrelton Simmons, ss (Really? With all the young ss's taken last year in the draft, and nobody took this guy?)
Gregor Blanco, lf/rf

Trades
They are repaving our alley and have been for a week. In the process, they have cut our AT&T U-verse WiFi twice. If I have failed to get your trade posted this week, that's why. Email me and remind me.
These two trades were made this week:
The Wahoos traded Nick Swisher, Justin Masterson, Trevor Bauer, a reserve spot, and pick 74 to the FFTs for Anibal Sanchez, pick 20, and pick 67.
The FFTs also traded Freddie Freeman back to the Warpigs for Jesus Montero.

Things I (the DVs) learned at this year's playoffs...
Check out the clown in the middle |
1.
The Rhinos
have very durable glasses – however he might want to consider contacts (and
throwing your hat on the floor is much more convenient)
2.
The Tweeners
could consider a second career as an opera singer – or at least a backup gig at
Silver Dollar City
3.
I really love
my dogs – but the Fungoes REALLY REALLY love their dogs – getting up at 3AM to
feed them ? Wow.
4.
It takes much
longer to unpucker your sphincter after navigating the Rhino lineup than it does
to pucker it when they roll on those cards
5.
“#” readings
on the fielding chart are a Godsend
6.
Whenever
there are more than 2 NASOMA managers together, there will be trade
talk
7.
As a
statistician, the Nads are a tremendous musician
8. The Tweeners can pose for a photo shoot with the best of 'em.
An even better Tweener pose |

World Series - Rhinos vs DVs
The 2012 NASOMA World Series features two teams looking for their first Higdon Award. The Series opens at Propeller Park.
Game 1 @ Propeller Park- Rhinos win 8-3. The Rhinos never trailed. Joey Votto homered twice. Tim Hudson got the win.
Game 2 @ Propeller Park - DVs win 6-4. Allen Craig, Aramis Ramirez, and Brian McCann all homer for the DVs, but it took a missed 1-10 homer by Ryan Braun in the 7th to get the win for the DVs.
Game 3 @ The Rhino Preservation - Rhinos win 1-0. With two amazing sets of hitters on both clubs - and playing in a hitter's park, the chances of a 1-0 game were almost non-existent. And yet... an 8th inning homer by Troy Tulowitzki provided the only run of the game. Earlier, J.J. Hardy missed a 1-15 ballpark homer chance with two men on. Just before the 20-sided roll, Colonel Rhino called out from across the table, "Roll the 20!" And of course, he did. Or, as the DVs said, "What do you expect from an ex-Mav?"
Game 4 @ The Rhino Preservation - DVs win 10-6. The Rhinos jumped out early with a 1st inning grand slam by Alex Rodriguez, but the DVs did the DV grind, inching their way back into the game. The go ahead runs scored in an exciting/frustrating 6th inning. The DVs loaded the bases on 3 walks. The Rhinos brought in Axford to face Granderson, and the DVs countered with Jesus Montero. Montero rolled a 2b-x. Cano is a 1, but with the infield in, the roll resulted in a 2-run single to put the DVs ahead. After another walk to re-load the bases, the DVs rolled 1b-x. Votto is also a 1, but again the infield was in and again the ball zipped past him for another 2-run single. Pandemonium ensued. J.J. Hardy, the ex-Mav, hit a 2-run dinger in the top of the 9th to seal the win. Series tied 2-2.
Game 5 @ The Rhino Preservation - DVs win 5-3. The crucial game 5 started with a leadoff homer by Granderson. Stanton added a 2-run homer in the 4th, but the Rhinos came back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th, the last 2 on a home run by Tulowitzki. The go ahead run scored in the top of the 5th on bases loaded walk by Alejandro De Aza. Blanco hit one out in the 8th for the 2-run cushion. The DVs lead 3 games to 2, heading home for game 6.
Game 6 @ Propeller Park - The DVs are the champs! Jered Weaver and Daniel Bard combined to throw a 1-hit shutout in the deciding game, and the only run of the game scored when Aramis Ramirez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The 1 Rhino hit was a single 1-6 on Braun's card.
Congratulations to the DVs on their first title!

Game 7 @ Propeller Park - A game 7 for the ages! An epic battle with D.Hudson starting for the Tweeners and Weaver taking the mound for the DVs. Both teams break out with 4-run first innings. Zobrist hits a Grand Slam for the Tweeners in the first while Ramirez hits a 3-run shot for the DVs! Hundley hits a 2-run blast for the Tweeners in the second inning, Hundley's 5th Homer of the series! The Tweeners plate another run in the third taking a 7-4 lead. Stanton homers for the DVs in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 7-5. It was still 7-5 entering the bottom of the ninth when Hanrahan allowed a lead off homer to McCann. Granderson walked and scored the tying run on a Holliday double. Oliver came in for the Tweeners and salvaged a tie, sending the game into extra innings. Curtis Granderson ended the series in historic fashion in the 11th inning with a walkoff 2-run blast off Oliver. Madson, the last available pitcher for the DVs, earned the win in relief for the DVs. Game 1 @ The Rhino Preservation - Fungoes won 6-1. The Rhinos struck early with a solo HR from Tulowitzki, but the Fungi exploded for 5 runs in the 4th. Playoffs Preview
This weekend at WTF Field in Waxahachie, the top six NASOMA teams will spend some time trying to remember how to roll dice and find the results on their cards. They've spent this past week trying to FIND their cards.
Here's the lowdown on the six playoff teams...
Seed 6 - The Fungoes. The Fungoes have won a title before (2006), so he's lost all the motivation to win again. And it's a good thing. To win this, the Fungoes would have to beat, in order, the Rhinos (105 wins), the DVs (112 wins), and most likely the Buckeyes (109 wins). Fat chance. The team had no one score 100 runs, no one drive in 100, no one hit 30 homers, and even no one hit 30 doubles. Apparently, Clayton Kershaw carried this team on his shoulders to the post season. He can set down that load now; the season ends with a first round loss to the Rhinos. It's probably for the best - he can spend his weekend being host and keeping the rest of us from rummaging through his collection of sex tapes.
Seed 5 - The Drillers. To answer the most frequently asked question, "Yes, the Drillers are still in the league." It's been more than a decade, but the Drillers have won two titles. And while the Tweeners are flying in from Kentucky, they will still get to WTF hours ahead of the Driller Dude. The Drillers are led on offense by Jacoby Ellsbury, Evan Longoria, and Yadier Molina. The Drillers open against the Tweeners, and actually won the season series 6-4, but at least half those games were played via the Quick Play option. Now he has to find that cheating white die.
Seed 4 - The Tweeners. The sentimental favorite to win it all. The Tweeners have finally reached year 30 of his 30 year plan. Michael Morse, Pablo Sandoval, and Victor Martinez lead the offense while King Felix is the top pitcher. The Tweener/Driller series might be the most entertaining of the weekend. The cheating white die vs the Mud Die. And while the Tweeners know the rules as well or better than anyone, there is sure to be a lot of, "Hey, does anybody know this... there's runners on the corners, he's back but holding, what happens on a gbA to the pitcher?"
Seed 3 - The Rhinos. Destined for greatness, the Rhinos have used the draft and the trade wires to put together the best lineup in NASOMA history and set the stage for their first title. The question at the beginning of the season was how many records would they break. But the Rhinos "only" won 105 games and didn't even get a bye. Does this mean doom for any team getting in his way now? Or do the Rhinos leave the weekend disappointed, overhwhelmed with questions about his game strategy and filled with self-doubt about his manhood and sexual preference?
Seed 2 - The Buckeyes. As 7 titles can attest, nobody can match wits with the Buckeyes and come out ahead. In the past, he's won with speed, he's won with pitching and defense, and now he's completely come full circle and returned to his overpowering, bandbox homer bashing strategy. Plus, Humber and Hamels both won 20, and Carpenter won 18. David Ortiz anchors (literally) the offense. But the real question is... How the hell is Hunter Pence a major league ballplayer? Have you ever watched him swing a bat? Or run? Or THROW? He throws like a girl! Or worse, he throws like John Wall!!! Anyway, a Buckeye/Rhino second round series would be fun to follow.
Seed 1 - The DVs. After years of spending playoff weekend either playing golf at home or playing with himself in the bathroom after getting spanked in the first round, the DVs are loaded for bear. Unfortunately, they won't be playing the bears. Still, he'll show up with stacks and stacks of every possible match-up involving every possible team. None of it will matter of course, but it WILL slow the game to a crawl, which works in the DVs' favor. They aren't strong on the boards, so transition offense is non-existent. If they're knocking down the 3's, they'll be fine. Otherwise... someone will need to ride back to Tulsa with him. Actually, you'll need to DO the driving. And you'll need to have the suicide hotline number saved on your phone... just in case.
Predictions...
Round 1
Rhinos beat the Fungoes 4-2
Tweeners beat the Drillers 4-3
Round 2

Rhinos beat the Buckeyes 4-3
World Series
Rhinos beat the DVs 4-1
Hope to see you there!

Inmates and Snakes trade
Inmates traded Ryan Howard to the SSWs for Michael Pineda. Given our propensity for
drafting/trading for pitchers and having them get injured, we decided to by-pass
the wait and get one already hurt.

19 Gold Gloves were awarded by MLB. In NASOMA, the Inmates led the way with 4 fielding winners, including LF, CF, 3b, and 2b. The teams with 1 representative are the Fungoes, DVs, Sidewinders, FFTs, and Zaps. One GG winner, Adam LaRoche, is currently not on a team in NASOMA.

Tweeners 2, DVs 1
Tweeners take 2 of 3 at home vs. DVs to finish the regular season for both teams. Game
#1 was a pitching duel, with Gio getting the win over Weaver. We inexplicably
failed to comply with instructions to pull Weaver after 7 innings, and he went 8
innings for the complete game loss. If the final stats show Weaver exceeding
his season limit by one inning, the penalty should be assessed to the Tweeners
on the ensuing kick-off. Gio and Romo fanned 14, Tweeners won 2-1.
Game #2 came straight from the "shit can happen" file. It began as another pitching duel, with Felix Hernandez taking a 3-2 lead into the 8th inning, when the DVs exploded for 6 runs off Felix, Romo, and Hanrahan. Tweeners began saving dwindling at-bats, pulling Sandoval and Morse in the bottom of the 8th. Then in the 9th Ogando, Madsen, and Elbert took their turn as The Three Stooges. Hal's re-cap said "The big moment was provided by Victorino who thrilled the crowd when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly'", but that was actually early in the inning. The final blow was a 3-run walk-off homer by Mark Reynolds, capping a 7 run 9th and a 10-8 Tweeners victory. Not quite as epic as the Randy Higdon belly-flop comeback, but epic nonetheless. Allen Craig had 5 singles, Madsen pitched a third of an inning, allowing 2 hits, a homerun, 2 earned runs, and was credited with a "hold". 'That was exciting!,' Victorino said. 'I would have paid money to watch this one.'
In game #162, Hal finally got it right when reporting that "Madison
Bumgarner(14-13) got hammered, allowing 6 hits and 4 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings." Tweeners actually out-hit the DVs 15-9, but Halladay and the DVs won the game by a score of 8-5. Shane Victorino hit his 24th triple, so maybe the league leaders listed in the yearbook will not be completely devoid of Tweeners.

Playoff Pairings Set
With the Drillers' 8-2 series win against the lowly Wahoos, the playoff match-ups are set.
In the first round, the Fungoes (6) will square off against their old friend (and future divisional foe), the Rhinos (3).
In the other first round series, the AWD champion Tweeners (4) will face the Drillers (5).
In the second round, the Buckeyes (2), who won the MFD, will face either the Rhinos or the winner of the LCT/OUD series.
The overall best record belongs to the DVs (1), who will face either the Fungoes or the winner of the LCT/OUD series.
The games will be played at WTF Field on December 1-2.
Could this finally be the Year of the Tweeners? Could the Rhinos finally find a way to win with THE GREATEST LINEUP IN THE HISTORY OF NASOMA? Could the Buckeyes somehow find a way to win another title? Could the Fungoes shock everyone by beating the Rhinos and Buckeyes back to back to reach the Series and win their second title? Could the Drillers add to their list of championship years? Could the DVs finally allow their bean to be flicked by someone else?
The answer to one of these six questions is YES. But which one?
Good luck to all. (Okay, that's a lie. Good luck to everyone except the Drillers and Buckeyes - they've won enough already.)

Killer Bees 4, Tweeners 3
With the Tweeners' magic number at 2, one win over the visiting Bees would
clinch the AWD title. We could not get it done in game #1, as Cueto allowed
only 4 hits, Motte got a 2-inning save, Bees won 4-1. The champagne was still
properly chilled for the clincher, which came in game #2. Hal was unimpressed,
reporting that Ivan Nova(9-4) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the
win. He went 5 and 1/3 innings surrendering 5 hits and 1 walk. For manager
George Brett and the Logan County faithful it was a thing of beauty. Victorino
homered, the Panda tripled, the 2-inning save went to Romo, and the Tweeners
rode 11 hits, 5 walks, and 3 HBPs to a 6-2 victory. Go crazy, Folks! Go
crazy!! The momentum carried over to wins in game #3 (Gio over Verlander 10-2)
and game #4 (MadBum over Cueto 6-2). We lost focus for games 5-6-7, losing by
scores of 3-1, 5-2, and 5-4. Tweeners will use the final 3 games vs. DVs to set
up the rotation for a round 1 series vs. the Fungrillers (or
Drillgoes).
We would also be remiss if we failed to acknowledge the accomplishments of several Giant Tweeners in the recently completed MLB World Series. Tweeners pitchers earned the win in 2 of the 4 games, along with 3 saves, including both win and save in the game 4 clincher. On the offensive side it was a Tweener who drove in the winning run in the final game (same guy who was NLCS MVP), and yet another Tweener named WS MVP. May their mojo propel us in the NASOMA playoffs. As the Giants have proven twice in 3 years, shit can happen.
(Editor's note: Along the "shit can happen" vein, there is still a chance that the Killer Bees could make the playoffs. Now THAT would be funny.)

Wahoos 3, Mavs 2
Nothing was reported (shock!), but I do know that this means at least THREE teams finished tied at 76-86. Our commissioner will have his hands full on the tiebreaker rules.

DVs 3, Tweeners 0
Tweeners don’t
let a starter go past 5 innings as the DVs sweep the last 3 games at home. In scores not to be
confused with tennis, the DVs win 6-5, 6-5 and 6-4.
The DVs have clinched the #1 seed for the playoffs.
Rhinos 7, Drillers 3... Rhinos 3, Sidewinders 2
The Rhinos finish up their season today!!!
Rhinos go 7-3 vs the Drillers
Rhinos go 3-2 vs the SSW's
Rhinos go 3-2 vs the Fungoes
I played the games at Fungoville and was short on time so I don't have any
write-ups or game-by-game scores.
Rhinos 3, Fungoes 2
Fungoes and Rhinos
completed the season today with a five game set. All games were played at
WTF.
Game 1:
Fungoes win game 1, 5-3 behind
Price and a strong bullpen. Price gets the win and Papelbon picks up his 32nd
save of the season. Cecil takes the loss for the Rhinos.
Game 2:
Fungoes win again 3-1. Myers picks up the win. The loss goes to Matt
Garza. Papelbon picks up his 33rd save of the season. Zimmerman drives in all
3 runs for the Fungoes.
Game 3:
Kershaw takes a no-hitter into the 8th inning but allows a run and that
turns out to be the lone run of the game as the Rhinos win it 1-0. Beckett gets
the win and Jansen picks up the save. Kershaw is the hard luck loser for the
Fungoes.
Game 4:
Rhinos score a run in the 10th to win another close one 2-1. Beckett picks
up the win while Chisek loses it in relief.
Game 5:
Rhinos close out the season with a 6-0 win over the Fungi. Cecil gets the
complete game shutout while Kershaw takes the loss for the Fungoes.
Fungoes finish out the season 81-81.

Let me know if there is a mistake.
And trading away a 3rd for J.D. Martinez is not the kind of mistake I'm talking about.

Have you been missing Joe Morgan? Well, try a little Tim McCarver...
(following the Brandon Belt single in the San Francisco 4th)
"First pitch hitting. He fell into that bad habit of taking too many pitches, like, uh, with that pitch count stuff going up... That's what a lot of young hitters do today. They take too many pitches early in the count. Brandon didn't then."

Inmates 4, Nads 3
All games at the Baptist Bowl:
INMATES 6 – NADS 5: The Inmates scored all of their runs in
the 4th and held on for an uninspiring win. Bastard-o K’s the side in
the 9th for the save (sandwiched around a walk and a hit…).
NADS 6 – INMATES 2: Marcum tosses a
complete game and Willingham taters twice to ice the game. Wells homered for the
LDMF.
NADS 6 – INMATES 3: Wells homers
twice more, but Inmates suck. Nads manage only one single for the entire
game…but also have 7 doubles and another Willingham homer.
INMATES 7 – NADS 4: Largest crowd of
the series to date, as 434 drunken and mentally handicapped weirdos show up to
watch a ho-hum affair won by the Inmates, only because the Nads weren’t
interested enough to play with much intensity.
NADS 4 – INMATES 3: Marcum pitched a
no-hitter for 6 2/3 innings, when Willingham fell on his ass chasing a routine
fly ball and allowed Jones to triple. Inmates don’t score until the
9th when Howard homers.
INMATES 6 – NADS 5 (11 innings):
Hanigan gets 10th-inning bases-loaded single with everyone in to put
the game into the win column for the Inmates. Billingsley held the Nads hitless
until Weeks homered on the first pitch of the game.
INMATES 6 – NADS 2: Good pitching by
De la Rosa and a homer by Pennington (!?!) and the Inmates win.

Extra Reserve Pick Contest Update
It's come down to the final day. The Snakes lead the Zaps by 1 win going into today, and they also own the tie-breaker. For the Zaps to win, this has to happen...
Win by Pittsburgh over Atlanta
Win by Minnesota over Toronto
Win by Arizona over Colorado
Win by Milwaukee over San Diego
All four wins are needed for the Zaps to win. If any of them don't happen, the Snakes are the winners.

Killer Bees 3, Wahoos 2
Wahoos win Game 1, 11-8.
Bees jumped to an 8-1 lead but the bullpen fell apart giving up homers to Werth
and Tex. Paulino threw 3 spotless innings of relief for the win.
Bees win Game 2, 10-7. Wahoos blew the lead this time as Samardjiza and
Mujica coughed up a 6-run 8th inning. After highlighting pregame festivities
with a tantalizing rendition of the national anthem, Carlos Santana hit a grand
slam.
Bees win Game 3, 16-6. Lots of runs early. 18 more hits for the Bees. How
does anybody consistently get this team out?
Wahoos win Game 4, 6-4. Chris Ianetta broke a 4-4 tie with a walk-off 2-run
homer off Farnsworth. Wahoos led most of the way until the Bees tied it in the
top of the ninth.

strike outs.
Bees outscore the Wahoos, 47-33, in the series. Bees hit .378 with 10
homers. But the 6.91 ERA wasn't so great. Wahoos hit .278 with 9 homers. And a
9.40 ERA.

Wahoos 7, Inmates 3
WAHOOS 9 – INMATES 2 (Baptist Bowl): Buehrle
throws a complete game, losing the shutout in the 9th when he decides
the Inmates have been humiliated enough and allows a pair of meaningless runs to
score.
WAHOOS 14 – LDMF 0 (Baptist Bowl):
No shit, this was really ugly. Morel (!?!) goes 4 for 6 with a bases-loaded
triple, Jurrjens throws a 5-hitter, and the LDMF sucks.
WAHOOS 4 – LDMF 0 (Baptist Bowl):
Inmates have yet to see the Wahoo bullpen. Masterson allows 3 hits and no walks;
the ‘Hoos turn 2 DPs, and face only one Inmate beyond the minimum.
WAHOOS 3 – INMATES 2 (Baptist
Bowl): Perez self-immolates in the 8th, blowing a save (and
himself) as -7 fans show up to the Baptist Bowl (really – that’s what the box
score says…).
INMATES 7 – WAHOOS 5 (Baptist
Bowl): WE CAN”T BELIEVE IT – THE INMATES WIN! The Wahoos score all their
runs in the 3rd. Perez gets the save.
INMATES 4 – WAHOOS 0 (The

INMATES 9 – WAHOOS 4 (The
Reservation): Six Inmates homer in this game to extend the Beakless
Chicken Gang’s winning streak to three games.
WAHOOS 16 – INMATES 8 (The
Reservation): The Wahoos score 9 in the first and torch the LDMF
pitching staff, settling with 22 hits. Shit.
WAHOOS 9 – INMATES 4 (The
Reservation): Youklis tattered twice and Buehrle wins again. Sigh…
WAHOOS 8 – INMATES 6 (The
Reservation): Some asshole hits a walk-off homer in the 9th
to make the LDMF look even worse. Shit again. Diarrhea, actually…

Extra Reserve Contest Update
They're neck and neck! With seven days left in the regular season, the Zaps and Sidewinders are tied for the lead in the Extra Reserve Contest. For those of you scoring along at home, it comes down to this: the Zaps and Snakes have 8 common teams. The difference makers are the Blue Jays and Braves (SSW) vs the Brewers and Diamondbacks (Zaps). The Snakes would win if they tie due to Albert Pujols having already served as the Angels' DH 30 times.
I will try to update the standings daily for this last week of the season.

Pennant Race Update
Could it be that a team with a losing record makes the playoffs AS A WILDCARD? It's certainly possible. Right now, there are only 5 teams with records over .500. The DVs, Buckeyes, and Rhinos are running away with their divisions, and will all win 100+ games. The AWD leader is the Tweeners, who are 8 games over .500. The only other team with a winning record is the Drillers, and they are only 69-68.
The Fungoes would earn the last wildcard spot right now. They are 76-76 with 10 games to play. Right behind the Fungoes: the Mavs, the Zaps, and the Bees. Even the Inmates or Nads could be a surprise playoff contender.
No, really. The Inmates and Nads are only 4 games in back of the Fungoes. Stranger things have happened.
I've added a link on the website that ranks all the teams with their records and GB status.
Oh, and in the Extra Reserve Contest, the Mavs have fallen out of contention. The Zaps have come on strong, but the Sidewinders still hold the lead.

Tweeners 6, Zaps 1
With the AWD up for grabs, and the NASOMA 2-time defending champs VivaZapastas
strutting into town, the Logan County Tweeners rise to the occasion and take 6
of 7 games from the Zaps at the Hooverdome.
Game #1 the Tweeners jump on Niese early for a 4-0 lead, Nova gives a quality start, Tweeners get 14 hits including homers by Victorino, Hart, and Morse, 7-4 Tweeners win.
Game #2 Zaps take the early 3-0 lead on a McCutcheon tater, but the Tweeners hang tough, and Jose Tabata nails the only pitch thrown by Benoit in the bottom of the 9th for a walk-off 6-5 win.
Game #3 Tweeners get homers from Sandoval, Zobrist, Venable, and Victorino; MadBum fans 12; all for naught as Zaps win 10-4. Andruw Jones and Joses Reyes and Bautista combine to go 7 for 13 with 2 doubles, 2 homers, 7 runs scored and 8 RBIs.
Game #4 was a tight affair until Tweeners plate 6 in the 5th, King Felix wins his 16th, final score 11-6. Zaps waste 2 more homers and 5 RBIs by Bautista. A true team attack by the Tweeners as all 9 starters plus the Lone(y) pinch-hitter all hit safely and 7 different Tweeners drive in runs.
Game #5 we go to expanded rosters, but Dan Hudson needs little help with a complete game 5-1 victory. Carl Crawford's leadoff homer was all the Zaps could muster. Tweeners get homers from Cozart and Venable, along with 2-out ribbies from Morse and Sandoval.
Zap bats remained quiet in game #6 as Will Venable had 2 base hits and the NORM TWEENERS beat the TRISTAN VIVAZAPASTAS by a score of 6 to 1.
NORM came up with 3 runs in the 2nd inning. James Loney kicked off the action when he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Venable stepped in and he tripled. Shane Victorino then worked the squeeze play to perfection. Victorino then stole second base. Alex Presley stepped into the box and doubled. After another out, Pablo Sandoval came to the plate and drew a walk. That early run support was enough for Gio Gonzalez(10-11) and NORM. TRISTAN was out-hit by NORM, 8 hits to 4.
Joel Hanrahan recorded his 9th save. Josh Johnson(0-1) took the loss. He
allowed 4 runs and 7 hits in 7 innings.
In the finale Tweeners pull away with a run in the 7th and 3 in the 8th to win 8-4, thanks in large part to the servings of reliever Nathan Eovaldi. Felix improves his record to 17-8. 2 RBIs each for Zobrist, Scutaro, Venable, and Victorino.
Bring on the Bees.

DVs 4, Buckeyes 1
DiamondVision and the Buckeyes netplayed the
last 5 games of their season series at the Buckeye Palace. By winning 4 of 5 the
DVs inch ahead of the Bucks for
the #1 seed, with a one game overall lead and two ahead in the loss column.
Game 1 – Giancarlo Stanton homers and has 2
doubles while Helton and Granderson add solo blasts in a 7-1 DV win that moves
Jared Weaver to 20-6.
Game 2 – Buckeyes ride Aceves 7 and 1/3 innings
of 6 hit, 8 strikeout pitching to win 11-3. Giancarlo opened the flood gates in
the 2nd with the dreaded “Double and two base error – all runners
score” result that ultimately leads to 3 runs in that frame and the Bucks pile
on 5 runs in the 3rd.
Game 3 – DVs score 5 in the 5th and
coast to a 10-2 win- nothing notable here as even Wrigley and Shea showed little
interest.
Game 4 – Ogando turns in a stellar effort in a
combined shutout as the DVs score 8 runs on 10 hits in an 8-0 win.
Game 5 –
Finally a close game. DVs lead 2-0 after 2, Bucks tie it in the 3rd,
then push ahead 6-2 through 4 as Chipper homers off of Halladay. Undaunted, the
DVs answer with Granderson (38th) and Giancarlo (48th) HRs
and score 3 in both the 5th and 6th to go ahead 8-6. Of
course the DV bullpen hacks up a fur ball behind Clippard and Bard, allowing 2
in the 8th, the second run coming on a Shelley Duncan (the baseball
player, not the actress – she was “Sandy”) ground ball X chance that Hardy can’t
corral. In the 10th Holliday singles home Granderson and Drew Storen
saves the day in the DV 9-8 win.
DVs have 16 games left, Buckeyes 14. Stay tuned
for the ultimate DV collapse.
Fungoes 5, Wahoos 5
Fungoes outscored the Wahoos in the series 34-24 and shut
the Wahoos out three times. But the Wahoos still managed 5 wins. All five games
at WTF were pitchers duels. No team scored more than 3 in those games.
Sidewinders 3, Wahoos 2
Game 1: Wahoos squander a
6-run inning as the Snakes rally against Mujica for the 7-6 win.
Game 2: Snakes jump out to a 3-0 lead after two. Tex hit a grand slam in
the third. But the Snakes use a 6-run inning to come back and win 10-8. Danks
went all the way. Struck out a dozen. Gave up 13 hits.
Game 3: Wahoos win, 8-5. Guess what. Another big inning. This time the
Wahoos were powered by a Youkilis homer and scored 4 in the seventh.

The Run for the Playoffs
The DVs have clinched their division and are within striking distance of the Buckeyes for the best record in the league. Congrats to the DVs. Sorry about your unexpected early exit from the post season again. (I just wanted to be the first to say it. And there was nothing unexpected about it - I was just being nice.)
The Buckeyes and Rhinos are on the verge of clinching their divisions.
Among the DVs, Buckeyes, and Rhinos, it appears two will get first round byes and the other will have to play a first round series.
The AWD has the only race going on. The Tweeners lead the Zaps by a game and a half. Even the Bees are only 4.5 back, but they're the Bees, so who cares?
Looks like the Snakeman picked a bad time to give up alcohol.
The battle for the two wild card spots will be interesting. The AWD runner up, the Fungoes, and the Drillers are neck and neck and neck for the two spots. The Mavs and Bees are close as well.
Technically, the Wahoos could still work their way into the playoff talk, but they'd have to actually play some games... and win. Don't hold your breath.
Should be fun. Well, if you're IN the race. For the rest of us, there's the battle for draft positioning.

An Email Exchange
Would you keep Pineda? Man that Lincecum trade sucks. I traded away my favorite
Red for 2 unusable pitchers. Other than the Albert Belle trade (I think he was
still called Joey then) this is worst trade I have ever made. Holla.

We all make bad trades. Giving up on Pineda now would just compound it.Pigman
I know but Pineda showed up overweight to camp
and recently was arrested for DUI. If I wanted a fat drunk guy on my team I'd
draft my brother.

DVs 8, SuperGoofs 2
DiamondVision and SuperGoofs hooked up via
netplay to play their season series. DV’s take 8 of 10 as they await their first
round playoff disposal.
Since I’m continually tired of typing it, and in
the interest of saving kilobytes on the server, wherever you see “*” – simply
insert the following verbiage : “DVs hit a bunch of solo homeruns on the way to
a ”
G1 – “*” 11-5 victory
G2 – “*” 10-3 victory
G3 - “*” 7-2 victory
G4 – “*” 6-5 victory in 11 innings as Mike Adams
finally gets tired after pitching something like 7+ innings
G5 – “*” 5-2 victory
G6 – “*” 10- 6 LOSS after the SuperGoofs
management lamblast their players in the press in the game 5 post game press
conference
G7 – “*” 6-0 victory
G8 – “*” 10-6 victory
G9 – “*” 8-4 victory
G10 – Fearing they would miss their team plane
home after the marathon series, Daniel Bard serves up a bottom of the
9th , walk off grand slam to Ryan Roberts as the Goofs win 6-2.
DVs 6, Fungoes 1
The DVs spend an evening as they wait on their inevitable
first round playoff loss with a 6-1 beatdown of the formerly playoff bound
Fungoes. There were some games that were closer than the previous 7, and the
Fungoes had horrible rolls and luck with very few BP HR’s even attempted.
The details:
G1 – (first 4 in the DV bandbox) Hardy singles in
the 8th to key a 5-4 win. Fungoes had broke on top 2-0, with the DVs
hitting back to back solo shots to tie it. DVs had taken a 4-2 lead, only for
the Fungoes to hit 2 homers in the 7th to tie it at 4 before Hardy’s
heroics.
G2- DVs hit 7 solo homers in a 8-5 win. Stanton
and Trumbo were heard after the game bitching about the lack of runners on base
keeping their RBI totals down.
G3 – Hardy and McCann (and maybe a few others)
hit home runs in a 8-1 DV win
G4 – DVs complete the sweep with a 15-2 win
Last 3 are September games from WTF
Fungoe-land
G5 – Holliday homers in the 10th off
Papelbon in a 3-2 DV win. Fungoes had rallied in the 9th to tie it,
only to see Papelbon’s first appearance in the series dashed.
G6 – Fungoes get off the deck with an Orlando
Hudson grand slam walk off in the 10th in a 7-3 win
G7 – DVs ride Halladay and 3 relievers to a 5-0
win

Wahoos 3, Tweeners 0
Game 1: Wahoos win, 2-1. All
the runs were scored in the 3rd inning. Jimmy Rollins had a 2-run homer. Wade
Davis went all the way while scattering 8 singles. Daniel Hudson was the tough
luck loser.
Game 2: Wahoos win, 8-7. Bumgarner was wild and ineffective. Wahoos scored
5 in the third but had to get a little lucky to hang on after giving up 15 hits
to the Tweeners.
Game 3: Randy Wolf pitches a masterpiece. Wahoos win, 5-0. Wolf allowed
four hits. Gio Gonzalez walked
8 in his 7 innings.

DVs 4, Fungoes 3
DVs and Fungoes hooked up via netplay in 7 unremarkable,
rather mundane games as none were closer than 3 runs. The Fungoes “Spay and
Neuter Your Pets” campaign was put to good use as the DV big dogs- Holliday,
Stanton, Kinsler and Granderson were a combined 14 for 100 with only one homer
(which was wind aided). The Warpig advance scout in the press box was overheard
remarking that “the DVs must think this is the first round of the playoffs.
Just a matter of time before he starts regaling us with tales of past DV
lore”.
Regardless, the DVs avoid a losing season (can
YOU say that Pigman?) as they move to 81-43, while the Fungoes hold on to a wild
card spot at 70-65.
The rather plain results –
Game 1 (first 3 at DVs): DVs ride a 3 run Blanco
HR in the 7th to win 6-3
2 = David Price
is awesome – and Nelson Cruz goes 4 for 5 in a 6-2 Fungoes win
3 = DVs rough
up Kershaw with 5 in the third and a total of 14 hits in a 14-6 win
4 (at Fungoes WTF Cavern) = Weaver and Storen
combine on a 5 hitter in a 4-1 DV win
5 = Latos, Luebke and Clippard combine on a 2
hitter in a 3-0 DV win
6 = Fungoes get pissed as Myers and Papelbon
hold the DVs to 4 hits in a 6-2 win
7 = Fungoes really get pissed as they pound out
16 hits on Ogando and crush the DVs 10-1
Killer Bees 2, Sidewinders 1
3 words - Lonnie Fuckin Chisenhall! Smashes 2 Taters off the guy
that ripped the heart out of Texas. BTW...remarkably, there were no pitcher
errors or hit batsmen this game.

Games Remaining
There is a new link on the home page that shows how many games you have left with each team. I think it is up-to-date, but not 100% sure. It is highlighted to reflect the probability that the games are played FTF, Netplay, or CM.
Many teams are way ahead of schedule, as always. Good job there. But there are a few teams needing to get games played. Make sure they aren't waiting on instructions from you.
For games that are going to be played with CMs, those instructions should have already been sent out. If you haven't heard from the other team, give them a call or an email. Worst case, let Glenn know.
Please continue to update the Input W/L Records google doc when you play games, and then send me an email with the results so I can post them. A big thanks to all of you who are doing such great game stories of your games. Those are fun to read.
It should be an interesting post season. Hey, Fungoes, will you be hosting? Even though the Pigs won't be playing, I'm looking forward to the DV antics when he gets ousted in the first round. That never gets old.

FFTs 7, Wahoos 3
2 clutch singles in 7th inning of game 1. FFTs win, 4-3.
Recently traded to the FFTS, J-Ro homered off Rivera in Game 2. Seemed innocent enough until Quintero singled and Swisher walked. Then Dustin Pedroia hit a BP homer 1-16 and got the 16 for a walkoff 7-6 win.
Game 3 at the FFTs seemed innocent enough. FFTs jumped to a 12-5 lead. Wahoos got back in the game and had 2 men on in the 9th after J-Ro homered off RIvera (again). Pedroia popped up to end the game this time. FFTs win 12-11. FFTs win Game 6, 14-0. To show the game isn't all that realistic, Michael Young had 4 hits. Albert Pooholes managed just 1 hit in the onslaught.
Wahoos win 3 of 7 overall.

Rhinos 4, Fungoes 1
Fungoes and Rhinos squared
off today and played five games at Rhino Uni-Horn Stadium. Here are the
results:
Game one:
April 23, at Rhinos.
Fungoes jump out to an 8-0 lead and hold on to win 8-4. Tulowitzki hits an
8th inning Grand Salami in a losing effort for the Rhinos. Myers gets the win
for the Fungoes with Papelbon claiming the save. Jackson takes the loss for the
Rhinos.
Game two:
April 24, at Rhinos.
Hudson and Janson combine for the shutout as the Rhinoids (gross) win 5-0.
Derek Holland takes the loss. 3 RBIs for Votto.
Game three:
July 17, at Rhinos.
Rhinos erase a 4-2 Fungo lead with a six spot in the bottom of the 7th.
Fungoes score one in the 8th and one in the 9th, but find themselves on the
short end of an 8-6 Rhino win. Friery takes the loss for the Fungoes. Hudson
picks up the win for the Rhinos and Jansen gets the save.
Game four:
July 18, at Rhinos (game one).
Rhinos cruise to a 5-1 win. Sabathia picks up the win for the Rhinos and
while Porcello takes the loss for the Fungi.
Game five:
July 18, at Rhinos (game two).
Rhinos sprint out to a 7-0 lead and hold on to win 10-7. Garza gets the
win while Holland takes the loss. Blah blah blah Rhinos kicked some Fungo ASS,
blah blah blah! Fun fun fun!

Rhinos 6, Inmates 4
Col. Rhino made the trip to the Baptist Bowl for
a bizarre series (“Keep Waco Wacko”). Among the weirdness:
“Cut the throw,” uttered by the Head Inmate when
confronted with a Rhino 1-19 steal attempt with a runners on first and third and
a catcher with a 1-7 T-rating. Col. Rhino was just a temporal shade behind this
managerial gem and rolled a 20…shitfuck.
“I guess you’ll throw,” uttered by the Head
Inmate several games later when the situation was reversed and the Inmates were
stealing with 1-19 odds. Not giving the Colonel an opportunity to respond, a 20
was rolled, followed immediately by “I was gonna let you have it.” Shitfuck
again.
RHINOS 8 – INMATES 2 (Rhinodome): Ugly
game in which the Inmates turned four double-plays, both teams made two errors
(has anyone noticed the farcically good Rhino defense?), and the Inmates won
2-1. Except for the 5th inning, when the Rhinos blasted Billingsley
for seven runs.
INMATES 5 – RHINOS 1 (Rhinodome): Inmates
get two triples on Tr-1 chances, Chacin Ks 10, and Sabathia takes the loss.
RHINOS 8 – INMATES 7 (Rhinodome): Inmates
score six in the 1st, then grease up and roll over as there was no
stopping the Pointy Schnozzola Gang’s offense.
RHINOS 5 – INMATES 3 (Baptist Bowl):
Inmates hit three homers and turn three double-plays and get the same number of
hits as the Rhinos. And lose anyway.
RHINOS 1 – LDMF 0 (Baptist Bowl): Floyd
Ks 11 and allows only three hits, but an error by Hanigan on an overthrow in the
1st allows an unearned Rhino run. Inmates get three hits in the
8th with nobody out - and don’t score. We hate this %$!^%^!@ Rhino
defense. Always X-chance die roll followed by “he’s a one with an e-0” or some
such tripe and then the 1-6-7-3-5-6-3 double-motherfucking-play. Or the rare
play ball-bounces-out-of-his-asshole-into-the-glove-DOUBLE-PLAY! roll…
RHINOS 4 – LDMF 1 (Rhinodome): LDMF
extend their inability to score streak to 16 innings as Garza and Axford keep
things in check.
INMATES 7 – RHINOS 3 (15
innings)(Rhinodome): Both teams empty their benches and bullpens in this
15-inning yawner that featured a total lack of ability to hit in the clutch.
Taters by Cargo and Beltre in the top of the 15th helped put
everyone out of their misery.
INMATES 5 – RHINOS 4 (Baptist Bowl): It
took three singles, a double, a sac bunt, and a safety squeeze to do it, but the
Inmates push across two in the 8th to ice this one. Venters and Salas
consider ritual disembowelment for the embarrassment.
RHINOS 5 – INMATES 2 (Baptist Bowl): In
game one of a doubleheader Garza tosses a complete game victory. Three Rhino
homers provide more than enough offense to best the LDMF.
INMATES 5 – RHINOS 1 (Baptist Bowl): Only
two of the Baptist Bowl Choralaires stayed for this one, but they witnessed de
la Rosa striking out 14 and throwing a complete game. Woohoo!
The HEAD INMATE

The score was knotted at 10 after nine innings. PHIL -SG won it in the
11th inning. After two were out Quentin kicked off the action when he blasted
a
solo shot. Jesus Guzman stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Melky Cabrera then doubled. Alexei Ramirez dug into the batters box next,
but he struck out. The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times. Mike Adams went 3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Steve Cishek was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 walk.

played well together as a team.'
September 7:
Designated hitter Daniel Murphy had 2 base hits and Tim Stauffer pitched 8
strong innings as the FUNGOES topped the SUPER GOOFS by a score of 2 to 1 at Pac
Bell Park.
The Fungoes tallied 1 run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Orlando Hudson
drew a walk. Hudson took his lead and swiped second. Jason Bourgeois then laid
down a sacrifice bunt. Murphy came up and he delivered a one-base hit. Lance
Berkman stepped into the box and drew a walk. Bobby Cassevah then threw a pitch
that the catcher muffed. The Super Goofs threatened in the 9th but Papelbon was
able to put down the rally and pick up the save. Stauffer was the winner
allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Kyle Lohse ended up with the loss.
September 8:
The SUPER GOOFS had an easy time of it at Pac Bell Park defeating
the FUNGOES by a score of 6 to 1. With the Fungoes batting and bases loaded trailing 2-1 in the 7th Eric
Hosmer hit into a TRIPLE PLAY!! That pretty much says it all!!!

Fungoes 2, Tweeners 0
Fungoes take two from the Tweeners at home!
August 26:
Five Fungo hurlers throw a
shutout at the Tweeners while Fungo batters find some timely hitting as the
Fungi gang wins it 3-0. Porcello picks up the win whild Hudson takes the
hard-luck loss. Hudson only allowed 3 hits in 6 1/3 innings. Porcello delivered a fine performance
for the Fungoes. He was reached for 4 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings. Fungoes

Gm2 @ DV Brothel - DVs win 3-2 in 10. DVs get a walk off win in the 10th after the Pigs missed a 1-15 ballpark homer in the 8th.
Gm3 @ DV Glory Hole Field - DVs win 8-7. DVs get a walk off win in the 9th after the Pigs missed a 1-15 ballpark homer in the 9th.
Gm4 @ The BallPork - DVs win 13-3. DVs get a walk off win in the 1st with a 4 spot off of Volquez. Fun stuff.
Gm5 @ The BallPork - DVs win 11-4. DVs get a walk off win in the 1st with a 7 spot off of Hellickson, including back to back 5-2 homer rolls to start the game (they'd get another 5-2 homer later on).
The DVs hit 10 homers in the two games at The BallPork and 16 overall. This is such a good team. It'll almost be sad when they lose in the 1st round of the playoffs.
